The reason why little Luffy's wearing a t-shirt is because One Piece doesn't really have a set time period. That's because it doesn't follow our world's history. It's its own world, with its own history, geology, cultures, and innovations. For example, the world of One Piece has telepathic snails that can communicate with one another across long distances, because of that they never needed to develop telephone technology, they could just modify these snails. The countless islands in this world are disconnected and their cultures develop separate from one another, so there can be islands as modern as our world, islands more advanced than ours, or islands left behind in ancient times.

Just some context about One Piece. Both the original manga and the anime adaptation started in the 90s (97 and 99 respectively) and still ongoing with weekly chapters/episodes being released, and as just any fan will tell there are not enough of it. Also the manga is the second most sold comic book in the world, only behind Superman (so yes, it did sold more than Batman and Spider-man) which is why all they had to do is to not suck to have a good audience. Also the story can go dark and emotional but in the end is about dreams and freedom so I hope you enjoy your journey

Alot of the clothes like "child Luffy's" shirt are actually based of the actual manga and even concept arts he made. The guy who talked to Buggy the clown at the end is actually seen in the bar where Zoro fights the marines.

⁠@@NyanNyan-gs3ihI think the miss conception comes from Luffy being able to deflect bullets. Most people wouldn’t consider a bullet as blunt but piercing, so Luffy being invulnerable to those gives the impression he would survive much more things that what he is actually able to.

One thing to remember us one piece is not set in our world... they have telepathic snails, t-shirts and electricity. Basically Oda the author just created the world as he wanted it to be.... also things vary a lot island by island some are primitive some are from like 1000 years in the future. Most of the world building in the show is lore around various key features of the world like the devil fruits.

Is a unique world with demi humans. Fun little story, Oda sensei was asked while making the live action, whether or not this world had electricity. He said until now he hadn't really thought about it... lol

Not a spoiler at all but, his entire body is made of rubber, so everything that could damage a ruber band could hurt luffy like anything sharp, fire, or if you stretch it too far, the only reason bullets don't work is because they are old time round bullets without a sharp end

My favorite thing about someone's first reaction to the One Piece world is the immediate confusion over how some characters are wearing modern shoes/clothes or old timey pirate clothing, having advanced steel battleships but using snails for phones, some places have torches and candles for light while others have full on modern electricity, etc... The worldbuilding of One Piece is VAST and kinda insane.

Amazing production quality. I love your sense of humor. However, I wasn't ready for 10:02. Originally, the fruit was right next to Luffy as he was arguing with Shanks, so he ate that in fustruation, just like you did (tell us more about what power did you gain). Which makes more sense, because I also think as well, LA rewritting was od‌d. 5:40 You're one of the first reactor I saw didn't went "eWWW". Feel the same, what's EXTREME within that! Originally he's literally a daily-bea‌ting sl‌ave, much wor‌se; which obviously wasn't shown- could've develop the character more. Anyway, think it's a weak line, but surprisingly people reacts HIGHLY over it; but you catched, instead. 8:27 Congratulation! You catched the detail. Let me quote the ille‌gally published Episode 1 script for you: “Then, in shadow play, the TOP HALF of Mr. 7's body slides off from the bottom. ZORO CUT THE MOTH‌ERF‌UCK‌ER CLEAN IN HALF. The candle lit for Mr. 7 BLOWS OUT.” 12:36 When the girl I like makes a joke over a boy she likes making a joke... (_I had to say it, sorry if it's cr‌inge_) 19:51 It's from a meme where Zoro carries FOUR swords! And the fourth one goes to... ahm... "back muscle". The writer literally picked that obs‌cure reddit meme into this million dollar adaptation, lmao! 23:23 So! There's two styles in One Piece, either 'exaggerated extreme', or 'exaggerated mainstream', and nothing 'normal' in between. She was the first one in Manga, but they had to take the second route here, due to ‘160M$ safety security’ and such reasons. So, how's the first Episode? I think it was the best in the series. One Piece was a comic (manga) first and the anime is an adaptation too. Not sure why you have #pixar and #Dreamworks as a tag since they aren’t involved. I personally believe the live action adapted the East Blue Saga better than the anime. The Toei anime didn’t even faithfully adapt Luffy’s flashback for instance. Excited to see your reactions! Mandy should try and play the original Special Edition "Monkey Island" games. They have a lot of this style humor. The first words the main character say is "Hi. My name's Guybrush Threepwood, I want to be a pirate!" He later introduces himself as "Guybrush Threepwood mighty pirate", the first game came out in 1990, and the first One Piece comic came out in 1997.

Its my no. 1 anime because its light humor but deep at the same time, and a satire to the whole hero journey inside the anime genre in general or the thing with bad guys and their monologues. ^^ The same author that created One-Punch Man, aka. "ONE" also wrote Mob Psycho 100, which is also very good. Another very good (deep) anime is Parasyte: The Maxim. (U will see why.)

One piece is amazing storytelling is been for 25 years the creador ODA is really amazing writer to keep us for all those years reading the manga and watching the Anime. Luffy is a kid with a dream he is only 17 years old now and decided to fullfil his dream becoming King of the Pirates. You saw Buggy the Clown 🤡 Captain Buggy is my Favorite character from one piece. Also the Snail phone o snail transponder are called Den Den Mushi in one piece world they are the communication systems they can communicate telepathically by voice with other Den Den Mushi the can be use as Cameras aldo alarms they have the ability to copy and resemble the face and accessories of anyone they talk through them is funny because the also copy the mannerism of the owners enjoy the one piece world 👍

Just some feedback, take it or leave it. - Beep/white noise cuts seem completely unnecessary and frequent. What is even being achieved by adding it. - You're swiveling your head to the camera or someone off screen super often causing you to miss out on iconic scenes and dialogue. The best solution would be to reduce the gap between monitor and camera or just reduce the amount of direct camera stare downs.

Alvida in the live action is a little too attractive. In the manga/anime she is a grotesque toad woman who makes her crew tell her she is the most beautiful. The ship design is suppose to be ironic. The t-shirts you will learn is very intentional. One piece is not a period piece. It is it’s own world and will have costume designs from all of human history. Almost as if to suggest the same tales of freedom vs oppression ring through time. Over and over. And as the ages turn, inherited will reassures the cycles rebirth.
