The original ending was that the Le Domas' succeding in killing Grace but the directors changed right before filming because it was too much of a downer ending and didn't vibe with the comedic tone of the film

I have a theory that the reason why they exploded wasn’t because it was delayed there was because they tried to cheat the aunt tried to cheat and declared that Grace still must die, then went to go attack her and then and only then did she explode and everyone else died because they were willing to let it happen and no one tried to stop her❤❤ but either way whatever the reason why they died that’s karma

There is a theory that they only exploded because they technically ‘cheated’. They had until dawn to kill her and lost the game. They would have been allowed to live but Aunt Helene still tried to kill her and then they exploded😅 Also interesting to think whether Grace would have exploded too had she not said she wants a divorce, because she would have still been ‘part of the family’ then
