Before Star Wars futuristic sci-fi looked like "Logan's Run" and "Rollerball." Star Wars also fast-tracked the revival of Star Trek starting with "The Motion Picture" and continuing with "The Next Generation." Sci-fi was exclusively a niche genre for nerds, but Star Wars was consumed by everyone; the jocks, the suits, your grandmother. For a generation, it was modern myth being added to cultural canon. There's all sorts of documentaries you can look up about the impact Star Wars had, it was something EVERYONE saw and it changed movies forever. It was the first movie with heavy merchandising tie-ins. Lucas notoriously took a half-million dollar salary cut in favor of keeping merchandising rights and Fox thought they were pulling one over on him. Merchandising tie-ins had happened before but no one had ever seen the massive proliferation of toys, clothes, board games, video games, comic books, comic strips, cartoons, children's books, novels, etc, etc, etc...It was EVERYWHERE for a while. Variety shows and live comedy shows had Star Wars sketches constantly. Spoofs, parodies, references, were everywhere. There's a line in a Queen song where Freddy Mercury declares "I don't like Star Wars" to express his malaise. They nicknamed Ronald Reagan's proposed SDI orbital missile defense system "Star Wars." You couldn't escape it for a few years. Ironically, the rebel sensibilities of Lucas and his contemporaries which made the 70's have such a gritty, indie-movie feel, eventually culminated with Star Wars, which immediately kicked off the FX-heavy, family friendly sci-fi/fantasy era that dominated the 80's on through to today.

Do watch 1. RRR is available in telugu in "zee5" streaming platform. If you cant access it then only option is hindi dubbed version in netflix as Netflix purchased Hindi rights and zee5 bought telugu and tamil rights. so there is no chance that netflix releasing telugu/tamil version. You can try getting zee5 if possible. 2. KGF 2 started streaming in amazon prime for free from june 3 so check it now. 3. Do check out Drishyam 1 and 2 ( malayalam) IMDB 8.3 and 8.4. part 1 available in Disney+ and part 2 inAmazon prime. Opt for original malayala version. I have a guhbillion things to add but nothing comes close to this: I just gotta say, this was by far the most surreal watch out of all the SW reaction vids out there, lol. To think you've seen it all EXCEPT the two movies that cemented/anchored the entire franchise(!). I enjoyed this thoroughly. Looking forward to the Empire watch with you, hopefully soon.

1. Sir Alec Guinness/Obi-Wan didn't want the part. Being a Shakespearian actor, he thought the entire idea was silly and was beneath him but his wife talked him into taking the part. 2. The smirk Chewy gives Luke after he scares the tiny black droid is 🤣 3. These movies were put out in a certain order because there was limited technology and Lucas used and pushed forward the images needed to make a quality product. The best way to watch the is in the order they came out. We had to wait years for the next one. There was no internet where we had access to them whenever we wanted. 4. The storm trooper that bumps his head was a goof and missed the cutting room floor. 5. No need to go into anything after VI. Disney took over and the quality dropped. I'm aware you have to because it's what you do. 6. The only CGI in this film are the critters the stormtroopers were riding at the beginning of the search for the robots, a couple of the huge critters outside the pub and the scene with Jabba the Hutt. Those were put in later after CGI was available. Otherwise, everything is what we had in 1977. 7. Right after this came out Carrie Fisher was on Johnny Carson and was told at her screening that one of her castmates was a 300 year old Wookie Named Chubacca. 8. Obi-Wan sacrificed himself after he told Vader he would be stronger than ever. He went back into the force. He knows it's Luke's job to take over. 9. The awkwardness in the detention space is because Ford forgot his lines. It was kept in the movie anyway because it worked. 10. The next two are the best of the series. Enjoy! 11. Two movies where Harrison Ford is not Han Solo or Indiana Jones that get little notice but would be great first time/shares are "Witness" and "Force 10 From Naverone".

Luke is such a beautiful boy but for some reason I was way more interested in Harrison. Carrie is such a badass in these and the following films. I had forgotten that about the character. My whole family, my dad, brother, uncle, aunt and me watched this as one of the very first films we saw in the VHS machine. It was like a dream come true. My aunt was paralyzed on one side so watching it at home versus a theater was a huge help. We loved it. We love star trek and this.

What the hell?! Can't believe Jack had not seen it. I was 5 when this came out and I saw it in the cinema. It was amazing. There had been nothing like it before. I agree that this is pretty much the perfect film. Must be a bit weird seeing this after the prequels. A little bit of info you may not know - Wedge is played by Dennis Lawson i.e. Ewan McGregor's uncle.

Re: stormtrooper banging his head; if you watch Obi-Wan's fight with Django Fett in Attack Of The Clones, when Django is getting in his ship to escape, he bangs his head as he enters it. As all Stormtroopers were cloned from him, that's why he hit the door. The Empire must have spent a fortune on Paracetamol!!🤕

As some one born in 78 Star Wars to me was a movie about a Wampa and a Tauntaun and then some other stuff happened and Episode IV was a story I saw after. but moving Forward from that From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga showed me how the movie was made and made me want to make movies , with no understanding of how hard it would be to obtain materials and actors etc. Then after getting past that we had a lot of movies that jumped on "Imitate Star Wars" Space 1999 Buck Rogers in the 25th Century Flash Gordon (which existed both before and after Star Wars) Galactica 1980 Hardware Wars The Muppet Show The Star Wars Holliday Special The Ewoks Movies The Ewoks and Droids TV series Dark Crystal Labyrinth Howard the Duck ET Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind 2001 a space odyssey (came out before it) Star Trek (before and after Star Wars with Wrath of Kahn impacting Return of the Jedi) The Last Star Fighter Tron The Black Hole The Explores Flight of the Navigator The NeverEnding Story Enemy Mine Ronald Regan's Star Wars project Superman Dune Space Balls Masters of the Universe ]Maniac Mansion Sam and Max Indiana Jones Jurassic Park Willow and many others all took inspiration from Star wars and Star Wars took inspiration from Yojimbo Ran Seven Samurai The Hidden Fortress Metropolis Tora tora tora WWII footage of dog fights and War Propaganda films so you can add any of those to your list too Some time After The Ewok movies Star Wars cooled down and we shifted to Ghostbusters, He-Man, Transformers, Go-Bots, Voltron, Back to the Future, Thundercats, Beast Master, Robocop, Rambo, Rocky, Jaws, and even some of those still has the Star Wars Vibe. after that set we moved on to Cartoons for every toy line any one could come up with till we landed on Nija Turtles and then we got on a Nija kick. Dinosaurs were big too then. The next shift that killed Turtles was Power Rangers, the Batman, Rodger Rabit and Anime After Jurassic Park, The Abyss, T2, Young Sherlock Holms CGI was showing it could do impressive things and that's when George brought back Star Wars Look to Oprah Winfrey and Conan O'brien for the Special Edition Hype and Rosie for the Prequel coverage. Genndy Tartakovsky steps things up with his animation brining Star Wars back to TV then we go threw Fanboys , Trekies, and some of those other Fan Con documentaries. I read a review of this long after I saw it and they said that the film did so well with younger people because obviously the cast is young, idealistic people trying to oust a corrupt government and that's what the 60s and 70s were all about. That sense of the younger generation taking over.

I'm sorry you're stuck with Lucas' 'remaster'. Petty schmuck went and destroyed the original masters because they were made without his complete control. He may have come up with the idea for Star Wars, but other people made it what it was. A shame also that Disney doesn't seem to understand it, either.

So, as we all know, in the context of this film the force is God, using the force for evil is the devil. The devil is strong but God is stronger. Its also the Hero's Journey but I figure you guys know that. Have you ever seen Clerks? Its the best film in the world.
