That’s how committed they were to keeping the twist a secret

Only a few movies came out then with that type of 3D and then the fad faded out quickly, the effect wasn't all that great for the day. LOL You guys. "When I think of an old film, I think of it being bad quality...' As if 1980 was "Old". Film have been capable of being extremely high quality for nearly 100 YEARS now. But for early high quality it came down to how much money you wanted to spend. If you gentlemen would like to see what the Best of the Best could do nearly 90 years ago, then I highly recommend you watch 1938's "The Adventures of Robin Hood" That movie cost a fortune when it was made and it shows. Not only that, it's a fun fantasy action movief and a landmark of film history. But even so, 1980 is NOT old! :D Believe it or not, the standard 35mm film stock at that era had resolution *better* than 4k Blu-Ray. Not standard 1080p, it's roughly equivalent to 2160p. It was usually just the transfer to Home Viewing that made them look poor.

In regards to your reaction to Vader revealing he was Luke's Father, I know you guys didn't mean anything by it, but to mock it by bringing up 'White Privilege' & that nonsense... Really? I'm White, my Father was also White, he also got married when he was in the Vietnam war, to a Vietnamese Woman, had two kids with her, then abandoned her when his tour was up, without divorcing her. Then he married my Mother, and had My Older Brother and myself. He was abusive to them both and my Mother finally left him when he threw his 4-year-old Son through a Wall. He fled the State without paying any child support, then remarried again. In 1989 he molested his 10-year-old Daughter. Luke's reaction to finding out his Father was a Monster was perfectly appropriate and thinking 'Race' had anything to do with it is beyond absurd.
