Hei Badd Medicine sorry I'm late to the party. Netflix is working on making a reboot tv series cinematic universe of every book in the series. (It was going to be the game of thrones show for netflix). Plus spin off movies between the books. The first one will be the creation of Narnia. But netflix has been silent about it for half a year now. 🤔

I would not mind a reboot, but I think it might be better as a series with seasons and 8-12 episodes a book they are not huge books though so movies with really good timing and editing might be good as well.

There have been various attempts at doing the books. The Silver Chair was done as a BBC series back in the 90s with none other than Tom Baker, everyone’s favorite Doctor Who, playing Puddleglum. Trying to do the entire series of books as a movie series presents the problems of the Harry Potter books without characters who conveniently age along with the series. With the Chronicles of Narnia you need almost every character around for the final movie. You could film that early on but then it would have to stay in the can until the other six movies finish. Since Aslan is not human he is probably the easiest to manage.

Even though they changed quite a bit from the book to this movie adaptation, and so they're not super closely connected, I want to give some credit to the book here because its opening line is one of my favorite opening lines of any book. If I remember correctly, the scene where Aslan helps Eustace become a boy again, it is so much more important in the book, because the process was very very painful. The whole point of Eustace becoming a dragon was because he was a dragon on the inside: selfish, ignorant, and rude. In order to become a boy again, he had to physically remove the dragon skin, which was symbolic of his heart changing as well. Ripping away the dragon flesh was painful, but staying as a dragon was much too lonesome and miserable. He would rather go through the pain to change into a human again than to remain a dragon. And Eustace did in fact change, heart and all. He would be there for _The Silver Chair_ and _The Last Battle_ , _The Last Battle_ being the final book, which shows the end of Narnia and its renewal.

This movie had the saddest goodbye out of all, made me sob because of Lucy’s relationship with Aslan, her faith in him never faltered once. Definitely that hardest goodbye for now
@kotamundaca33982 жыл бұрын
The end of this movie always make me cry, the way Aslan says he's always going to watch over them, sayin he's known by another name in their world (it's a clear religious reference) I'm not really religious but it felt really nice and warm to have him saying it. I imagine the 4 siblings may start to feel that Narnia becomes more and more of a distant memory, a dream even, but to have that reminder through the years, I'm sure it would bring them comfort. Reep is the real MVP, and it was so bittersweet to see him lay his sword down to go to Aslan's lands and just go in peace. I loved this saga growing up, and I'm so happy you guys enjoyed too!

These were the ways to enter Narnia: In the first film, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (TLTWTW), the children enter Narnia thru a wardrobe made from a tree grown from a seed Digory Kirke brought from Narnia after he entered there with rings made from his uncle that allowed for traveling into other worlds in The Magician’s Nephew. In Prince Caspian, the Pevensies returned to Narnia by Susan’s horn. When they returned to their world, it was instantaneous; therefore, those around them felt and saw nothing except the affected children. Here in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the painting is a Narnian artifact. In The Silver Chair, Aslan personally called Eustace Scrubb and his friend Jill Pole to Narnia. In the Horse and His Boy, the story takes place in Narnia during the time the Pevensies were Kings and Queens when they first entered TLTWTW. Therefore there was no interdimensional traveling. Finally, for The Last Battle, all those who had experienced Narnia except for Susan Pevensie return to Narnia with a grim entrance by death in a train accident. All the victims in the accident did not realize that they had died because Aslan had summoned them into the new Narnia after he destroyed the old one.
@ryttyr14 Жыл бұрын
Oh. So that's why The Horse And His Boy felt so weird to me when I read it. It STARTS OUT in Narnia. I thought it started out in London like the others and I was so confused when there suddenly were talking animals and I just could not follow the plot anymore and put the book down, but that makes so much more sense now. Maybe I should give it another shot after I finish reading the Pern series?
@Mangolite Жыл бұрын
@@ryttyr14 There are two ways to read the series. One is to read according to the publication of each book, starting with The Lion, The Witch, and Wardrobe (which is scattered between timelines), and the other is the chronological narrative order starting with The Magician's Nephew (streamlined timeline from the beginning to end of the series).

Also in the Magicians Nephew Polly and Diggory (who is actually the professor) got to Narnia by putting on magic rings that transported them to the Wood Between the Worlds, which is this never ending wood that has a bunch of different pools in it, and each pool leads to a different world. Polly and Diggory actually first went into a pool that lead them to a world called Charn (where Jadis is from), and then they went into the pool that let them into Narnia, where they saw it being created.

Read these books religiously as a kid and have to agree about Will Poulter. Totally PERFECT casting. Almost better than I would've imagined Eustace myself. Actually all of the cast was spot on. Liam Neeson as well. The films do feel like they could be longer, but they're definitely faithful to the books and the ages they were designed for. Squeaky clean, almost perfect kids stories for Western culture. 👑
@lyds63822 жыл бұрын
Eustace’s arc is SO great in the book, it is a bit different and much more developed. I always try to appreciate the reasons why changes are made from books to movies so I understand why it would’ve been difficult to portray it the same way in film. I get them adding the seven swords storyline too, it didn’t really mess anything up and I see them needing a clear goal besides finding the lords. I HATE the green mist addition though…it messes up an important truth Lewis intended to portray. The evil and temptation on Deathwater Island (with the water that turns the items to gold) did not come from a magical external source, it came from within. Lewis was trying to demonstrate that all humans have this capacity for sin/evil, not just obvious evil villains.
@Mudge0001 Жыл бұрын
the 7 swords was always part of the book .. The 7 swords are meant to reprent the 7 trupets of the Herlds of God - aka Calling forth Aslan 7 being a very important number in Christain teachings - such as 27 books to the The New Testiment .. 7 books to the Chronicles of Narnia themselves - it was the morning of the 7th day in Chapter 7 that (in the books) Eustace sees Aslan and returns to a boy And ofcourse "On the Seventh Day the Lord rested, and said "It is good"

To The Oak: The third movie is my favorite also! I loved the first two, but third always spoke to me in terms of Lucy's arc and her struggles with herself and her worth. Plus Eustace's arc is awesome, and the actor really captures how I imagined Eustace in the book. And of course Reep, who is one of my all time favorite characters. It broke my heart in the movie and in the book when he left to go to Aslan's country, but was profoundly lovely at the same time, because you know he is joyfully going on to his best adventure. I do wish they would finish out the movies but it might be odd having a whole new cast. If you guys haven't read the books, you definitely should... they are wonderful. The book was originally just an adventure story without any major villain, so the green mist was just added for this movie. Aside from the green mist thing, I love Eustace in this film. Will Poulter captures the horrible, greedy, obnoxious side of the character, which makes his redemption feel very earned. I love his portrayal of Eustace, which makes me sad that Silver Chair was never made. One of my favorite parts of this movie (as a middle child & growing up as the "wallflower/odd one out" in a large class), is the 1st time I watched the movie & how they emphasized with both Lucy & Edmund - battle with your weaknesses but don't run & the lesson of you do have something to contribute by being you. You are valuable in a unique way & you bring a lot to the team (family, class, work, friend group etc). I had to learn & embrace that lesson the hard way on my own after graduating from school. But if I kept chasing after what I THOUGHT people expected me to be like or not be into - I wouldn't have gotten into self-defense (I'm a shrimp). I wouldn't have pursued a counseling degree to help people fight their demons. I wouldn't have met the man who is now my husband. I wouldn't have started working out for my mental sanity & joint health. I wouldn't have learned to love the people in my circle so fiercely & be the fighter in my family. I wouldn't be in the career I am now which I love & thrive in (early childhood - teaching the kids that we don't run from new/tricky things - being their biggest cheerleader). (Didn't mean to write a book but yeah.)

Thanks guys..if there is a 4th film..we all would be interested in your reactions... Have a great Thanksgiving...even in these uncertain times..there are many things we can and should be thankful for...🙏... 🌿🌿🌿

Late to the party but I just wanted to say what a JOY it was to watch you guys react to these three movies-especially the first one, what with you having no prior knowledge of the story (which is quite rare, at least here in the UK where LWW is almost essential reading as a kid 😂) it was enormous fun to see your reactions to Lucy finding Narnia in the back of the wardrobe. I loved seeing the genuine enjoyment these movies gave you, and the depth of meaning you took away from them. Keep keeping it real, fellas!

It's a shame that there was no 4th and now the actor who played Eustace is too old to play a child that could be allowed back into Narnia. At the same time though, trilogies always seems to make a classic. On top of all that, the four children had their moment and their ends, so it makes for a good close. As always, I look forward to whatever we watch next!

after rewatching this as an adult, i'm assuming Aslan's country is actually the afterlife, but the good kind, since aslan is almost like the god of narnia

He’s Jesus. The whole story is Bible analogies and Christian symbolism. His country is most likely heaven

Nice reaction guys! This film caused an uproar for many things showed didn't happen like that in the book. The original story it's one of my favourites, but I liked this adaptation as well (mind you, there are some tiny issues with the plot but it's ok). Sadly, though Disney didn't finish the series, The Silver Chair was made by the BBC in 1990 as a miniseries and it was really pretty done! Finally, I seriously recommend you to read The Last Battle, you're in for a treat with this one. Saludos desde Lima. :)

8:18 When this movie was announced, there were so many crossover fan trailers that fans made, LOL. Also, the fandom created a lot of crossover fanfiction where many of the characters met up with Captain Jack Sparrow. There are plenty of those fan trailers on KZbin.

The sad thing is, that my favourite part of Narnia, the third one, wasnt even filmed! You gotta read the the whole Chronicles of Narnia!

They left all my favorite bits of the book out. I truly hope some other production does it justice, and then continues with Eustace.

Seven books. Only 3 movies. I really like The Silver Chair book, but I think one of my favorites will always be "The Magician's Nephew" as it tells all about Narnia's beginnings, how the "sons of Adam and Daughter's of Eve" first arrived there, it tell who the "White Witch" is and how she came into her powers...

I wish they would turn the books into a TV show. The only downside to that would be not having the same cast in the show. The first one is still my favorite. ❤

Reepicheep !!!!! Eustace ! Great reaction and commentaries, thanks for sharing the Narnia series with us. The interactions between Reepicheep and Eustace is what I love about this movie (disappointed by some of the changes from the book and the "green mist" addition). Gary Sweet (Drinian) is a fine Aussie tv actor, many great roles as hero and villain, sad his VotDT role was limited. The set for the Dawn Treader deck at in a parking lot near SeaWorld, Brisbane, Australia. For a period it was visible on the google maps street view until updated. When Queen Luck asked if Caspian had gotten married, it's more detailed in the book. Drinian mentioned he was to marry the Duke of Galma's daughter. Caspian replied she squints and has freckles (always think of Anna Popplewell reading that LOL). Also, Queen Lucy's Book of Incantations scene was more detailed and better in the book. For "The Silver Chair" highly recommend the 1990 BBC 6 episode series with Tom Baker as Puddleglum (4th Dr Who). Thank you Badd Medicine team, excellent commentaries and scoring. Happy Holiday Season. For Narnia and for Aslan!

With regards to normal life vs narnia in relation to your comment the series is interesting in how its handled and I would recommend the books. There's also another novel out there I just can't recall the title but its about kids who went to magical worlds and came back broken. Their minds having essentially grown up in a world of magical beasts and killing simply can't handle the normal world and now someone is killing them.

I watched your narnia reactions and it was very enjoyable to watch! I wish they do a series and they cover the book the Boy and his horse which happens in the same era as the Pevensies reign in Narnia. The first one is also my favorite. I think this one's was meant to be a call back to the first one, adding more magic and less wars like in the second one- which was the complain they got. It's sad that the Pevensies only return until the last book though. The ending always made me feel sad and empty because I knew it was the end of the original 4. It's like just like they went back to their world leaving Narnia behind it felt like that for the fans too as the future of the saga was uncertain... Thank you for watching it!

Very cool to see Eyebrows in this film as a child. He now plays Adam Warlock in Guardians 3, he’s the perfect actor to take on that job too. I love how Narnia is Christian based. Love how the Lion mentions that He is known by another name in the child’s world. If this where all real, them 4 would have met Jesus himself, but as a lion. Very cool. Many references to the Holy Bible in all 3 movies.

I really liked this movie, one of the first times i had seen eyebrows in a movie and his performance put him on my list actors who ill pretty much watch anything they do the movies for this one and prince caspian actually add a lot of details of things that lewis didnt mention or just inferred, his books are written for kids so a lot of stuff is mentioned but not a lot of details given, this book had it where each island was a different adventure there really wasnt any overarching plot, the movie expanded the mist to give the movie more urgency to their travels there was a lot of talk about magicians nephew and horse and his boy getting movies after the silver chair fell apart, since those movies wouldnt require getting any of the previous cast members back, kind of hope that happens, and its been a perfect amount of time for them to bring it back and then do the last battle

Regardless of what others think.. I love this movie so much. It will never compare to the first movie, but it was still really good! I love Eustace's evolution the most. Will really did a great job at portraying his character. I love his friendship with Reep, and that just made it very funny, yet wholesome. 😊

The BBC actually made the Silver Chair in their versions of Narnia TV films. Sadly they only went that far but its still an option if u wanted to have a gander at some visualisation of the silver chair I guess?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but I did hear a theory that the green mist was also connected to what would have been the next movie the silver chair. As the main villain in that one was known for her green "coloring" and also trying to build an army. Maybe if they had a chance to make the fourth it would have been better. Overall still a great movie. So disappointed they never got a "horse and his boy" or "the last battle" in live action as those were my favourites. But I do recommend the audio dramas. I'm sure they are on KZbin. And are hosted by c.s.lewis stepson Doug Gresham.

I loved part 3! I still don't think it was as good as part 1, to me it was definitely better than part 2. I guess that's because Eustace is my 3rd favorite protagonist I loved seeing the slow change in his personality from being annoying to an actual decent person. Plus I love the friendship bond between Reep and Eustace.

Love this movie (like all the movies and books) but one HUGE peeve with one scene that i have to close my eyes every time. Edmund being my favorite character of all time, i hate that scene when they are in the cave and arguing about the gold water, because in the BOOKS, CASPIAN was the one who wanted to use it and EDMUND was the one who didn’t. I feel like in the books Edmund already went through his character development in the LWW, and Caspian has his turn (to a much lesser degree than Edmund) in VDT. I wish they didn’t change that in the movies. But over all, i still love these movies, and Narnia in general ❤

The need to give an overarching plot and threat to what was (in the book) a loose series of unlinked adventures on the ship searching for the missing seven lords led to some incongruities. In Prince Caspian, Aslan had been absent from Narnia for a 1000 years, but this movie says that Aslan gave Caspian's father, a Telmarine king, the swords. (Which didn't protect Narnia from Miraz).

Thanks for the reaction - it’s been so good re-exploring Narnia with you. I grew up with the books and loved seeing these adaptations when I was in my late twenties/early thirties. I love The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, but I found Prince Caspian lacking a little. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, I adored - probably because of the dragon, because I have a soft spot for dragons. And if you enjoyed Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian, do check out Shadow and Bone on Netflix (season two is coming soon) - he’s so good in that. Also, if you love dragons, check out the 1996 movie DragonHeart - Sean Connery, Dennis Quaid, the late, great Pete Postlethwaite, and a young David Thewlis (Professor Lupin). Such a great story and amazing to see in the cinema. I hope you do consider it! Thanks for a great reaction. ❤
