Eric's face paint is the mask of comedy, which juxtaposes the tragedy of his and Shelly's murder. The mask he wore in the flashback was the mask of tragedy, juxtaposing how happy they were together. His character in this movie is driven by irony, like how only after death, he realized that nothing is trivial. He tells a joke about the crucifixion of Christ, another man who rose from the dead, but unlike Jesus, he's not here to pardon sins, but to avenge them. "I say I'm dead, and I move." The irony drips from Brandon's performance, the mask only slipping away when around his two remaining friends. The movie is a simple revenge story, but it's the characters that make it what it is, and it's why so many people love it. Brandon Lee in particular is a big reason for that. The story is based on the comic by James O'Barr, which was supposed to serve as an outlet for him after the death of his fiancee at the hands of a drunk driver. Though catharsis never came from it for him, thousands if not millions of people connected with him through his story, and that's worth something at least. Tragedy surrounds this franchise, and Brandon's untimely death will never not hang over this movie, especially given the subject matter. But like Sarah's final lines say, "If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."
@0okamino3 күн бұрын
In the graphic novel, the murder of Eric and Shelley is based on a real incident that James O’Barr had recalled hearing some details about (though he didn’t know the victims’ names). The real life victims were James Schmidt and Dorothy Cerny, who were engaged to be married. The gang of criminals responsible had also robbed the couple of what very little they had on them at the time, which included Cerny’s engagement ring. One of the criminals turned out to be Henry Brisbon, known only as the I-57 Killer, until he was caught, and his connection to those murders in that area was discovered.

Brandon Lee was hit by a jammed cartridge, or rather a fragment of it, in the scene with Funboy in the bedroom "look what you did to my bed sheets" Since films are of course not shot chronologically to the plot, that was after more than half of the film. The Funboy actor never recovered from this accident, he always blamed himself for the accident, even though he and no one else had anything to do with it. It wasn't real ammunition, but the blank shell somehow broke and a piece of it still went off, fatally striking Brandon Lee

My ex-wife was pregnant with our daughter when this movie was in production and Brandon Lee died during filming. AT the time we did not know if we were having a boy or girl, but we both decided if we had a boy we would name him Brandon Lee. I was always a big Bruce Lee fan, and hated that he had died so young (I was about 4 at that time), so watching Brandon Lee movies was something special for me. We went and saw this movie on the day of release, and I loved it. I recall the news articles talking about way they were able to put Brandon into scenes he did not film becoming an issue for how they would handle video evidence in court trials. I never watched any of the sequels or other Crow movies, because this one is too important to me to ruin it. RIP Brandon Lee :(

When you add this film (1994) and the death of Kurt Cobain within a month or so, it was a dark year. One of the wads from a blank round was stuck in a barrel and became a bullet at the next shot, or as in the Alec Baldwin case, live rounds were kept on set with "dummy' rounds and there was a mix up doing the loading for the big shoot out on the table scene. The last shot if the film planned after the shootout scene (him running and jumping different rooves) was done with the new CGI tech of the time.

The graphic novel is highly recommended reading. I like this movie a lot, but I love the comics. Just be prepared, because it can be really emotionally brutal. For several reasons, some things got changed quite a bit in the movie, while other parts got removed entirely, and it’s all rather Hollywooded up, because that’s what studios always seem to think has to happen. As I said, I do like this movie, but I think you would also see that it left some even greater potential unrealized, in part due to Brandon Lee’s tragic death.

I'm a bit over 6'2 and that is very tall in an normal society. I've always felt tall and my personality tells me i'm tall. But..i also play amateur basketball (elite/pro 25 years ago). My best friend is 6'8, everytime we go to a basketgame nowadays and are queueing - all my former teammates are shooting the shit across hundreds of peoples in a world of their own. And there i am, standing on the tip of my shoes trying to fit in I would say that the +/- with women is around 6'4. Generally speaking. Aren't you around that height? But we tall peeps better increase our mundane pleasures co's we will most certainly vanish before the shorts. Make every inch count - like my wife says 🤓

Ahaha that's kind of like me with my friends, but most of them are all average height, and I can't hear what they're all talking about all the way up here 😅 I'm almost 6'5". I'd much prefer to be 6'2" though! That's a good height.

@@RyanCarrington I've must have stumbled across the keyboard - i'm a tall 6'3, 193 cm. We are are not that far off experience like. 6'5 is not an disadvantage. 6'8 probably is for my friend..depends on the built i guess. But who cares, we both have a celestial view of the average minion. Let these soaring Harpys reach our mountain if they indeed are worthy of our hypoxemian existence 😌

24:07 WRONG ! cats are actually very faithful. but if they feel neglacted, the will find someone that does not make them feel that way...
@RyanCarrington3 күн бұрын
I was joking about the faithful thing. However, cats are very independent. I've got 3 cats that come into my home. None of them are mine. I just keep my back door open, and they stroll in and hang out. My 25 year old cat passed a couple of years ago, so I don't mind! With the cat im talking about in the video, I once went away for about 5 days and my flat mate said she pined for me up and down the hallway and slept on my bed every day. I still remember when I came home, she did a double take and climbed me like a tree and wouldn't leave me alone. So I think she liked me quite a lot. We were like best friends. She just liked hanging out with the old folks down the road from time to time as well 🙂

Funnily enough, my opening remarks going into this movie was asking if the new movie was worth checking out. I can't remember if I kept it in or not. Might just be in the full length reaction.

Dark City same director and it’s bloody superb. But make sure it’s the Uk version and not the US and the US version has a voice over at the beginning that spoils the plot… studio interference for the win!

I must've re-edited and re-uploaded this about 50 times. Each time, I had to cut more and more out. The original cut was about ten minutes longer, but I had to get pretty aggressive with the edit to stop it getting blocked.
