43:13- I know this scene was skipped, but I have to point out the PURE grace and of Gertrude. Whatever her feelings were, she realized that they didn’t matter because he loved someone else. The simple question asking if he was going to let her get away, solidified their future FRIENDSHIP and her true approval of his love. This is so rare to see in any film, and should be so more common in life.

@@cruzinboscoYes, we often forget that 90% of the world’s population is kind and giving. I am a person who is happy when the people in the world around me are safe and doing well. My great grandfather taught me some very important lessons in life. I spent every Tuesday and Thursday night with him. He had a LARGE fortune when he passed away of around $250 million dollars. This was in 2005. It was interesting to see EVERYone appear in the family when he passed away, people who hadn’t seen him in decades. When his will was opened it was VERY extensive, and everyone was shocked (except for me). He made a list of close family members that were allowed to enter his home and remove “small hand-held sentimental items and photographs”. Everything else inside the home was to be auctioned off immediately. He collected Grandfather Clocks, Old BMW parts, Leather Couches, and the ENTIRE house was covered in Persian Rugs. The house was to be listed immediately. If his son or daughter wanted to purchase it, they could for 10% of the value BUT they had to stay in the home for a minimum of 20 years. (The house was valued at 7 million- so it was listed and sold). He had 7 cars, all (except one) were to be sold. The other car was left to me, I had just come of age to drive. The office buildings, farm land, and stocks he owned were all to be liquidated immediately. Everything was to be consolidated into ONE FUND. Now, this is where everyone was shocked- but again, not me. I knew him and he was a man of “if you don’t earn it, it isn’t yours”. That large fund, less the cost of his burial expenses was to be SPLIT amongst 39 different charities. There were 39 members of the family, he chose a charity that represented each of us and the things we did in life. My uncle is a lawyer who went to Albany Law and received a scholarship when he attended, my great grandfather ‘s donation to Albany Law set up a FULL scholarship in my Uncle’s and His name for kids who couldn’t afford education. There were a ton of people who were genuinely MAD that he didn’t leave anyone in the family a dime. To me, he did so much better- he left a legacy in his and our names. We have no need for millions of dollars, He has been my hero since I was little. He became even more my hero when his will was read. (other things done were: Creating “Evergreen” space, Local Shelter Donations, Red Cross Donations, ASPCA donations, hospital wings being built, etc,.) He taught me to NEVER take more than you need, and if you earn more give every dime back.

This movie got me through middle school. I was so depressed and would watch this multiple times a day and the laughing helped me through it! It will always have a special place in a heart. I don’t know why I hyperfixated on this movie in particular but I did.

I watched this movie when I was 5. I remember thinking Margaret Tate didn't want her secretary to look at her because her tattoo was exposed. Few years later, I learned it's because she's naked. 😂😂

I think you miss the point about the relationship between the father and the son. The father is a mastermanipulator and bilittles the choosen path he has taken. The son says he is happy in what he is doing but the father is very stupid and self-centered only seeing the son doing what he wants. The father is using the businesses as a way to coerce his son. Good parents let their children decide the direction in which they choose to go. Yes they guide them but ultimately respect them because they have every right to decide without the parents using cruel tactics to guilt their children to go in the direction they have choosen. The father is brutal; unloving and calous towards his son. He should be grateful to have a son that could care less about some dumb legacy and money, but would prefer to have a dad to spend quality time with.

Я поняла, что видела русскую версию этой истории, хоть она и отличалась от этой, поскольку действие там происходило не в США. Поэтому там были свои нюансы и отличия. Я вспомнила также об одном из моих любимых фильмов, где в главных ролях снимаются Sandra Bullock и Keanu Reeves. Этот фильм называется "The Lake House"(2006). Он снят на основе корейского фильма "Siworae"(2000). Если честно, то когда я посмотрела оригинал, то он мне понравился даже больше. Но всё равно фильм от 2006 года остаётся одним из моих любимых фильмов.
