For me, eco friendly means the company cut even more costs to give me an even shittier product. For the last 5 years I have only bought from small companies that sell quality at a reasonable price. Thank you Rose Anvil.

I have both the Barefoot African Trooper and the Bearfoot Bruin. If you truly have a wide forefoot and want the maximum room for toe splay, then the Bruin is your choice. Both boots break-in well, and I have put plenty of miles on them both (I am a hardcore bird hunter).

I tried the Jim Green barefoot African Rangers but had to return them because I also have a low volume foot, and they were too wide around the heel and arch as well so my foot was swimming around. I wish someone would make a resoleable boot or shoe using Xero Shoe’s last which hugs my instep and has more than enough room for my toes.
@Psalm91143 күн бұрын
My xeros do fit pretty nice…

You should try duckfeet boots. I have low volume feet, and they're perfect for me. All you have to do to make then barefoot style is cut the heel off. I haven't done that myself but I heard it's pretty easy since the heel is just another layer of crepe
@coffeedudeguy2 күн бұрын
That was initially my issue as well, until I added a 3mm insole which then made things more snug
@joshgies18693 күн бұрын
Been wanting your review since I keep seeing thier ads. Had the BAR since initial drop. Love them and wear almost daily. Super comfortable, however I could go for just a little more room for big toe and started wearing sockless for the extra space. My initial impressions of the patriot are: looks good, but I prefer the lower sides and soft collar and price point of the Jim Greens.

Nice looking leather! I definitely want to see these cut to verify that they are good all the way through! :) Same goes for the norwegian Dundas boots.
@shish_taouk3 күн бұрын
They look good but are quite expensive (575 CAN $ + shipping + tax + import fees = easily 800$ and maybe a bit more). My Jim Greens (I have 3 pairs) all feel tight in the toe box because of how small (height) their toe box is designed. Which also restricts how your toes splay. They would be much ore comfortable with a higher toe box, and a more natural toe box shape (wider). Bearfoot had a few very bad reviews about their newer model, but for some reason they all mysteriously ''disappeared'', hence the perfect score on their website. It's quite a gamble unless your wallet is very heavy.
@dzzope3 күн бұрын
Agree on the toe box on jim greens. Don't have a pair of ATs yet but my AR8's are the same on the JG last as are the ARs I tried but am returning (too low for me) Would love to see a V2 of the ATs with a taller toe box and maybe a slightly more contoured waist to heel and up the back of the Achilles area to eliminate some of the heel slip.. Though I can get rid of it, it requires tying them at least twice and really snugging them down around my ankle area.. Doesn't put me off but would be nice to see another last with JG toe box with maybe 3-5 mm more height and a bit more fitted heel.

I'd love to see these cut in half, especially because seeing the interior volume may solve two questions I always have about these leather barefoot boots. It looks to me like the toes are always really pointy, vertically, and especially since barefoot boots always try to put your toes right in the end, rather than leaving space in front like traditional shoes, I can't imagine how the tips of your toes aren't crushed to powder. And the heels always look vertical on these, whereas my actual heel is curved, which is something traditional boots are really great at accomodating. So it looks like my heel would be sliding all over while the tops of my toes are crushed. But maybe the inside looks different? I'd be curious to see.

This is the Vibram Newflex sole sheet material, its a very expensive rubber material that comes in 5mm or 10mm...I'm using 10mm on zero drop footwear re-soles...it will last longer but not have the ground feel of the barefoot. What we need is a serious consideration of zero drop work boots...Barefoot and zero drop are too different categories. Jim Green Barefoot are not really barefoot, more zero drop...Good stuff but ought to be cheaper.
