I had my yearly clinic day for post leukemia care ( survivor for 25 years) 2 Monday’s ago and I was there for 6 hours - dexa scan, meeting with social worker, blood work, echocardiogram, and ecg. I didn’t have time to eat, and I was so tired. But all the tests came back normal. So glad I don’t have to worry about anything except my daily nerve pain and anxiety/depression that I’m on meds for.

Ugh. Welcome to the big girl hospital. No more being treated like a child. I am in the hospital a lot and no one tries to accommodate my needs. It is such a huge difference and hey! Unfair. I need to be coddled during spinal tap but it's all business. Good luck kiddo! I'm buying 2 succulent shirts. I love them!!!!!!

Love the new design! When my husband (who has CF) and I first got married 13 years ago, I was able to come in the PFT room with him. Now they prefer the patients to be on their own, which I found disappointing too!

When I was in the hospital this past week they wouldn't even let me wear my pull up! Talk about a weird policy for an incontinent person! Not to mention very frustrating.

From being a nurse working with GI patients who experience a lot of fecal incontinence we discourage briefs in bed due to skin breakdown risk. However, you have to take the patient’s routine into account. I discourage use for patients who can’t communicate with me that they need to be cleaned. If the patient requests because they use it at home, or the family requests because it’s the baseline we allow it. However some patients out there will request a brief not because they actually have incontinence but because they don’t want to get up or call for help with a bedpan-I’ve seen it all! Most incontinent patients I have interacted with who have incontinence at baseline have a routine and know that they need to change their products at certain intervals. Blanket policies don’t work out very well. I’m sorry that happened to you. If wearing a pull up is your baseline and works for you, you should have been allowed-but just wanted to give background on the basis for that.

We don’t use them as well unless the patient has to go for a long MRI, or test where clean up would be too hard. It breaks the skin down a lot faster as hospital beds tend to overheat patients as the mattress cover is waterproof, the bed chucks pads are waterproof, so your skin does not breathe well.

I get them when I go with my husband to his CF Clinic appointment, which was Wednesday this week, where we found out that he gets to start the Trikafta medication!!!! I am so grateful and thankful. God is amazing and I praise him daily for his miracles! You all are one of those miracles also. Loving the new designs as well! Love you guys! ❤️❤️❤️

Hey guys... Maybe mention that the paintings used in these designs do not belong to Mary. They were downloaded from Sap G Art's Etsy. Hopefully you guys paid for commercial use so this isn't illegal. But I do think it's important not to mislead your audience/customers, seeing as most of what you sell is Mary's artwork, it would be very easy for somebody to think that Mary herself had painted them. As an artist myself I'm just hyper aware of this stuff, and I think you guys should be a bit clearer about where you're obtaining the artwork you're using to make money from.

Great point! For most of our apparel and merch, we hire graphic designers and artists to provide commercial licenses for our designs. We would never want to mislead people, so thanks for bringing it up that up!

I ordered the bag within 5 mins of seeing it! I have been on a neuro med since the beginning of the year that is extremely pharmacy restricted so hospitals don't even carry it so I have to walk around with a bottle of it on me at all times in case I end up in the hospital because the odds of anyone being able to bring it to me before my next dose is slim. I've recently started another med which is semi-pharmacy restricted that the hospitals can get now that they know they have a patient who takes it (unlike the other med) but it's easier if I just keep them both on me at this point. I've been using an old makeup bag or plastic bag the hospital puts it in when the pharmacy there checks the med, I love this bag more! I'm so excited!

Totally agree. That’s scary. I personally would refuse to be separated from my support person. There is no valid medical reason why an adult shouldn’t be allowed to have a person they choose as support

It’s not mean it is what happens at an adult clinic. It is the same way for their pulmonary rehab program. The caregiver isn’t allowed to hang out in the gym. They love if you have supportive caregivers but they don’t want them possibly interfering with anything. As a patient you tend to want to communicate with your caregiver and less of medical staff when they’re in the room. You need to be able to do things on your own but for certain things they do allow them to be there.

It’s fine if you say your support person stays in one area of the room and you focus on whatever test and if you are struggling to focus they must leave. Otherwise there is no reason to put people under undue stress just because a handful of people can’t handle it.

PotsAndPups I’ve about to receive my second double lung transplant at Duke and been a patient many years. I can assure you that they do not treat their adult patients like children. Duke has some of the most compassionate staff you’ll ever find. If there is an issue they waste no time getting your caregiver who is in the waiting area and would even bring them back if need be. They don’t ignore people’s anxiety and concerns but you also have to let them have room to do their job.

That’s so strange they wouldn’t let peter be there whole getting your tests done. I have never been denied having someone with me for anything. Maybe it’s different though cause I’m in Canada.

Alicia Chenier it’s not bc it’s different in Canada (I’m here too!) but every medical facility in both countries have their own rules/regulations. This rule for PFT alone is odd but I guess they don’t want distractions. I’ve worked as a nurse in both adult and children’s hospitals. Even the various adult hospitals in my city have differing rules for various things. Makes you nuts at times, lol.

Feeling your feelings on transition of care. I just had to move to a new doctor today and it was scary and long and difficult but he was so kind and caring also. I’m thankful for that. Have a few more transitions in the next 2 weeks on my GPACT care team. And you are so lucky to have and amazing husband with Peter. I wish I could clone him. LOL!!! I’ll remain single until I find my amazing person but have my Lord Jesus walking with me and I take comfort in that.

Keep leaning on your faith...you will be fine. Even if a particular new provider doesn't work out, you will be guided in finding the right team members. I am now single, I was not chronically ill/permanently disabled when I got married. I didn't have a diagnosis yet, when my husband decided I wasn't measuring up as a wife. I obviously picked the wrong man, because he certainly didn't measure up as a husband should have either (by not being supportive). If it's meant to be for you...it will happen. Otherwise, you can get companionship in so many ways. It'll work out!

GVGIRL thank you for your words. I’m more than content being single the rest of my life. I was just pointing out how it would take an amazing man like Peter (Godly views and such) for me to even consider again. I am changing doctors due to poor care and still fighting a medical mishap that has almost killed me. I’ve been to close to 25 doctors in the last 17 months and had 6 surgeries and facing many more due to medical error. I just always let Mary and Peter know how inspirational and uplifting they are to me through this journey.

Love the new design! I had to order a short because 1 - I love succulents 2 - My mother's family was Frye which traces back to Frye 3 - Not really a reason but I live in NC. So Peter, you have relatives here!
