Your calculations are quite wrong, I think this video must be corrected or even deleted to remove research errors, cars could deteriorate, get scratched and have the windows broken also in hot pursuit 2. I think graphically what makes Hot Pursuit 2 more pleasant to look at is a more balanced color pallet and contrast. Undercover PS2 always looked a bit overdone to me with saturation cranked up to eleven and way too high contrast. So as though the graphics might be better, the visual treatment looks somewhat amateurish, as Hot Pursuit looks/feels more natural despite the six year gap in graphical advancements.

No its not a cash grab. It reusing Carbon as a base makes it much better than main Undercover release. Its fun to play and succeeds with look and atmosphere that PC/x360 version failed. If Exient had more time and got also PS2 Prostreet as resource it could have quite a bit more cars that PC version has and it wouldnt have any bugs.

Absolutely. Both run around 30 with drops. I like this channel normally but it's missed a lot here. HP2 has damage also. And all games from that era have aliasing issues. It was just hidden with CRTs and flicker filters.

Ha, I was actually going to bring up Need for Speed Undercover on your next first/last video. Undercover PS2 is one those games I consider a backport, where a company develops for new hardware (PS3/360) and ports the new content to and old engine on older hardware (PS2) to play it safe and cater to a larger audience while the new gen is still building steam. In this case, Black Box took all the new cars and levels from PS3/360 and used the old MostWanted engine. Most often this porting is done by outsourcing to a smaller developer. I see no dev on the game case, but according to wiki it was Exient Entertainment that did the Undercover port. I'm actually surprised it came out as well as it did. This scenario leads to some fascinating differences in the game. Depending on how many liberties the port is given, what game engine is used on the old hardware, and what generational gap there is. I'd love for you to compare backports to source material, especially weird stuff like Mercenaries 2 PS3 vs Mercenaries 2 PS2(running on Mercenaries 1 engine). Games like Iron Man 2, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Toy Story 3... Or heck, even Undercover itself!

I dont hate Exient's(ps2/wii) version....i adore it to no end. Its PC/X360/PS3 version that i hate. Black Box failed with main release alot while Exient done their best in small time span using NFS Carbon as a base. In the end is far more unique and enjoyable of a game. It looks warmer and nicer compared to incredibly dull, generic and depressing pc version. Has fun cops from MW05 that are a bit bugged with spawning but not to a point where its annoying it just funny sometimes. Game captured that Vice City/Miami warmth and colourfullness even with traffic having wilder colours(which is also something Carbon or MW05 never had there traffic cars had a single colour per model. Handling model is really enjoyable. And this is the very last release like this with proper splitscreen which was missin on "next gen" releases and survived only for a bit longer on Wii only nfs games. Its up to 4 people on Wii which is amazing for coach play.

NFS Undercover on Wii/PS2 is a different team. But they reused Black Box's engine, as well as repurposed some assets from BB's other NFS games since this version is technically a cash grab since Wii and PS2 are still hotselling systems. Also, from what I've heard, this version was more favored by fans than the main version.

Hot Pursuit feels far more realistic and natural. Undercover huge amount of details makes picture really messy because the resolution is too low for that level of details. But most importantly Hout Pursuit is fun to play.

Great video. Undercover was a very underrated game mostly due to it not ever being finished. Black box should have had 2 years to make it instead of being pushed into an annual release. This game was even supposed to have multiple endings and storylines depending on what you as the player chose. Theirs car damage in HP2. When the cops call in the chopper and you hit a bomb the windshield gets damaged, also dents and scratches. Also spike strips damage tires. You can't total any of the cars, but I can live with that.

What comes first to my mind is the city map in undercover that was reimagined from Most Wanted and Carbon's map. Some shortcuts on the road don't match with the map. They may be shown on the map, but you will crash into the (invisible) wall while trying to ride there. And the customization in undercover is very unintuitive due to the bad menu structure. Some decals and vinyls from previous games were completely cut. That leads us to a game created of the pieces of previous two. Just doesn't feel too good if you have experienced previous games. But considering it as a simple and fun arcade game for PS2 and not taking up the legacy, I'd say it's solid 7/10

NFS Undercover looks excellent on Playstation 2! The other versions, that were made by EA Black Box (PC, Xbox360, PS3) will simply kill your eyes, because of the overblown the bloom is and not to speak of the bad blur effects. The Wii version is sadly quite lackluster in graphic department 😔 Also the gameplay isn't good either, but at least you eyes will not bleed. But never the less, NFS Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2 is an absoluet gem. Excellent gameplay, driving feel, graphics. And if you play it in an emulator and upscale the graphics - WOW! 🤪🙂😁👍 Oh, and there is car damage in the PS2 version I don't know why it doesn't work for you. Maybe it is turned off?

Although Undercover clearly has a lot more polygons/object going on and such, in its environment, I does have more 'dancing lines' and looks a lot jaggier than Hot Pursuit 2. Maybe it's because of the capturing process, but the cars in Hot Pursuit look smoother and less jaggy than Undercover. I've never played Undercover, so also not on a CRT TV, so maybe the jaggies are less of an issue on a CRT. But on this video, Undercover is kind of an eyesore compared to Hot Pursuit 2. Has been ages since I played the PS2 and don't have a CRT TV anymore.

I dont know why EA used engine from previous NFS to do NFS Undercover in PS2, I mean the PS2 was capable to move the Xbox 360 version without, WITHOUT any reflection and shadows but with fully visual damage that make the difference with other NFS for PS2 🤷‍♂️. Like Pro Street but in this case uses the same engine like in the Xbox 360 but without any visual damage🤦‍♂️At least they could have put visual damage in the PS2 versions 👍 Both games are good, but they could have been be better😎

Hot Pursuit 2 to me definitely looks better especially when played with component cable, its almost like you driving through a real world simulator because of the high detailed environments, the special effects and the dynamic lighing and effects that really give you that imagination it is all real. Undercover instead looks straight like a video game because it appears all cartoonish. Whats also to note, when you drive through water, the windshield wipers turn on, yes working windshield wipers! Undercover is only good on the PC, Xbox and PS3. The PS2 variation obviously is a redesigned "Most Wanted" and lacks alot of content that had to be cut due to the age of the console even though Sony did release new models with better tech each year until 2009 when the final slim model was released, but techwise it wasn't a leading console anymore because its legacy was 9 years old and the next generation PS3 was out since 2005. EA Seattle along EA Canada was the original NFS Development team, before Hot Pursuit 2 they worked on NFS Motor City/Motor City Online (1999 - 2003). Black Box additionally was given the chance for the first time to develope the PS2 release of Hot Pursuit 2 and due to its success it became a major part of EA Canada and the further main developer of NFS. Its not surprising that it looks better, at the time the PS2 releases of many EA games were much more advanced and enhanced on the consoles (NASCAR, Madden, NBA, NHL, NCAA Football, March Madness, MoH, SSX 3 to name a few) because not everyone had such a powerful PC, although the PC/GC/Xbox titles look good and like most of the pc video games at the time. I actually have HP2 for the PC and three times for the PS2 (two boxes are still originally sealed for the PS2). Own every NFS title since 1994 the R&T presents: The Need for Speed Special Edition up to NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. Some I own for both systems PC and PS2.

In fact Undercover for ps3is probably the most boring need for speed gameihave ever played. To date myfavorite need for speed game is stil Underground 2. I liked undecover so much that i got it for ps3. Doesnt run well. I always fall through the Map at Random Points (after exciting the menu screen) . Ever tried turning with 180kmh in a curve? Its hard. You know what makes it harder? The Lag. It lags 3 Seconds every time it has to render a new area. Its reeeally anoying. Post Processing sucks ass, i see blue void and nothing more. I actually like the PS2 Version more. Does anyone else have these experiences too? Or is it just my copy?

I love NFS Undercover for PS2 as well! Funny enough, the only two NFS games I own for PS2 are Hot Pursuit 2 and Undercover. The game's just so, so, so, so fun! I still play it too this day. Hot pursuit 2 is definitely a fun racing game and being to play as a cop adds to the appeal. That said, having a good storyline makes a racing game more worthwhile to play. Most wanted (ps2), I feel was way better than most wanted (ps3) cause of the storyline. Free roam on both platforms and obviously, the graphics were better, but it didnt feel the same imho.
