If you’re dicing an onion: 1. cut in half through the root and stalk (like this: 🧅\ not 🧅/) 2. Trim the stalk end (the end that doesn’t have roots) do not trim root end 3. Peel 4. Lay onion half flat and slice along the curve of the onion (like cutting this magnet down the middle 🧲, then down each side like a quarter inch thick) DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE ROOT. Keep the root in tact with the slices. Ideally, all the slices will hold together somewhat. 5. Turn the knife to cross cut the slices you just made gripping the onion root. Then obviously toss the root out. 6. This is still miserable, but I find it easier. You should always just cut the onion in half this way IMO. Much safer than slicing a whole onion because you have a flat side on the cutting board this way.

I use this same method, I also just remove the outer piece of the onion that way it takes off peeling faster & the extra layer of film to Wait to cut the root last thats what makes you feel like crying. A silly tip but it works everytime if someone has issues with watering eyes take the handle of any piece of stainless cuttery & put in between your lips enough to hold in place till your completed , crazy creative but it works.

I love to live vicariously and watch when people are in new areas - this looks fun! But once you mentioned Wegmans I got homesick!! There is no reason on God's earth I would ever move back to the NY/NJ/PA area but, man, I miss Wegmans. If you get a chance to go to an actual Wegmans, do not miss it.
