First week has been an absolute blast settling down and making our small cottage cosy and atmospheric. Now we can finally relax a bit and enjoy our new lives.

The yellow earthenware bowl is called a batter bowl. Used for mixing cake batters, bread doughs and such (pancakes 😋) …I have a few really old ones from early 1800s. I like the tapestry. 👍

My mum had one through the 1940’s, 50’, & 60’s, & used it as her baking bowl. I think it was her Mum’s before that. It started to ‘craze’ on the inside, so my mum stopped using it in the 1960’s.

If I were the envious type, I'd be so envious of that sweet little house! What do we need, as Lloyd Kahn said about his self- built, rustic home in CA, besides shelter, and a place to get well when we are sick, etc. You certainly have a cozy nest to be in when the wind blows, for certain! I was surprised to see that your charity shop choices were exactly what I would have picked, and the entry mat, too. Such a stunning place; that garden will be lovely. Charming cottage. Amazon sells some little sticky hooks to run along the baseboard to tuck the electric cords all nice and tidy. So they don't show and little Velcro wraps to tidy and bundle cords. :). Regards from Texas

Wonderful charity shop. I have my Mother`s desk, which is Edwardian and my late Husband`s Grandfather`s desk. Your cottage is stunning. I lived in a two hundred year old cottage, where otiginally two houses were made into one, with a ladder from the living room to get into the upstairs.

You will end up like me, wanting more beautiful old furniture finds but not having space. My tiny flat is full of mostly good charity shop finds. I had to pass up on a fabulous Georgian chest of drawers with wonderful handles for the giveaway price of seventy five pounds the other day because I simply don't have space. The bed looks great by the way.
