Camera work on this is great, I could really see and learn some things. I'm a Merchant Marine and our license's are the same size, as a passport. I bet if you made a few with the Merchant Marine seal on the outside & advertised in a Merchant Marine periodical or two, they would sell.

Hi Shirley, I include all the tools and products I use along with my PDF pattern and instruction files that can be downloaded from my website at www.fischerworkshops.com These items can be purchased from some online stores or leathercraft supply stores like Tandy Leather Factory. I hope in the near future to be able to supply quality products through my own store as well. Thanks!

@FischerWorkshopsTaiwan7 жыл бұрын
I bought the dispenser from Bob Park's Custom Leather. You can email him for a price at hidepounder@gmail.com. Rivets you can buy from many leathercraft supply stores online. Just make sure you buy the right depth for the leather you are working with. I keep just about every depth of rivet I can in stock all the time for any project.

Amazing work, but I think little bit thick
@prepperjonpnw64825 жыл бұрын
Hey There - being someone who travels 250+ days a year I can honestly say it is perfect. As for how thick it is that’s one of the reasons I like mine so much. It doesn’t hold a cheap pad of paper, it holds your Passport. Arguably the most important document one can possess when it comes to identifying positively you are who you say you are. I also like the weight of it, especially once I have filled it with my Passport and cards etc. if I drop it or misplace it I notice immediately that it’s gone because of the weight missing from my jacket or carry-on. The cause of that weight protects my important documents from being bent or damaged in any way. As I said, I like mine very much and that’s for the best since it will probably outlive me lol. Cheers mate

At 1st it was just a hobby that turned into a full time job in the industry. In addition to Fischer Workshops I work full time in the leather trade profession. It's a great industry and thankfully it affords me the opportunity to continue working with leather as an craftsman.

very cool! Im curious... from beginning to end, how long did it take to make this piece?
@FischerWorkshopsTaiwan6 жыл бұрын
It's been a while since I made one, but I'd say about 16 - 20 hours or maybe a little for just the wallet construction. Sometimes it's hard to gauge because so much additional time goes into the design and art behind the project.
@scorpisces1826 жыл бұрын

Can you use Faux leather instead of real leather for these projects?
@FischerWorkshopsTaiwan7 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Yes, you could use faux leather to make the wallet, no problem. But you can't carve and tool artistic impressions into faux leather. Only vegetable tanned leathers can be carved and tooled.

Aldrin Vargas Yes, you can.
@tissuepaper99627 жыл бұрын
Yes. Good idea. Put ALL of your documents and money in one single package to make it easy to steal. The thieves will thank you. Aside from that though, it's a beautiful wallet. I just don't think it's the smartest thing to keep all of this stuff in one place.
@FischerWorkshopsTaiwan7 жыл бұрын
I'm a very cautious traveler and my work takes me to many different countries, so I like to lock my passport to my waist, where I can see and feel it at all times. Thankfully, I have never lost my passport or information, but most of my colleagues have... mostly because they get distracted checking in, and before they know it their wallet is gone. Once I leave the airport I store my passport and documents somewhere more secure, since I no longer need them. But regardless I wouldn't put all my valuables in one place. I use the card slots for my business cards and contact information. I keep my cash and credit cards in other spots. Thanks for commenting!
@tissuepaper99627 жыл бұрын
Luckily, as an American, losing my documents isn't the worst thing that could happen to me on most trips. I can get most places without a visa, and most major cities have a US embassy. I'm glad to see that you're cautious with your documentation, as I've known countless people who have lost or had stolen their wallets while abroad.

Eric Lovejoy Original one of a kind content is costly to provide and takes a lot of time and effort to make available. I try to provide my designs at reasonable prices too cover my costs in order to make them available. This includes design, materials, filming, editing, photography, publishing, and more. It's a long and complicated costly process. Although I am always looking for ways to make my projects more affordable and accessible to the general public. Sorry for the long answer, but perhaps others might be curious as well. Thanks!
Is animal leather. Vegetable tanned refers to the natural plant based material the leather is tanned in. This is the only type of leather that can be wet molded, carved, and tooled artistically.

You didnt put anything on the back of the leather while carving to stop it stretching (no tape and you didnt glue it to anything)... fairly thin leather too... you are lucky it stayed in shape.
@FischerWorkshopsTaiwan7 жыл бұрын
This particular leather doesn't have that issue. It's a Florentine leather a lot of artists like to use for carving where I live here in Asia. Doesn't stretch or warp from the tooling... Great stuff, but a little pricey!
