i suggest also having a fairly established tank to add a scooter blenny in. not just the mandarin gobies. they love pods

Let me see how fast I can summon the tang police. If it's reef safe and tiny, any fish is fine. I have a 12 gallon 3 feet long tank. I have a tiny blue tang, clownfish, yellow corisse wrasse and a royal Gramma. Of course I know the tang will outgrow the tank. I already have a home for him with a friend's 120 once he gets larger. Also most fish stores will let you trade fish in. The most important thing new reef keepers should do, even for nano tanks, is quarantine their fish in copper for a month. You'll look into this the first time you wake up to ich or velvet.

you’re lucky to have an lfs that will let you trade fish. i don’t, and so do many others. so taking the time to research a fish for the system is more of a larger decision for us. and i’ve had occassions when i thought my friend could take in my overgrowing tang, just to find out he already received another one from another local reefer. namely a powder blue

@@MACNTOSFAM of course your have to take into account whether you lfs will do trades, that's why I mentioned it

Not sure I agree with a mandarin. Good list otherwise!
