I too can remember using bacon rind when I started fishing some 60 odd years ago, and yes it did catch perch etc. The only thing I can fault with this video is that you say that you like brown sauce with your bacon - Get a grip man, have you no class? It's always Tomato Ketchup with bacon. lol Fair play to you for the way you handled and no doubt rescued that baby snake - That is something that I could not do, I am terrified of snakes and have been all my life!

Cool stuff. I'll be giving this a go as soon as the Perch season properly gets going here. Makes sense - the action must be very naturally wormey wavey slithery looking. This channel is just brilliant - look forward to each and every video. I just hope Bacon doesn't displace all the soft plastics I've amassed over the last few years. I've a feeling that although it's kind of limited to white/pink in colour it'll have the action all the soft plastics wish they had.

In your opinion do you think bacon works well as bait? Do you think Bacon could be as good as earthworms as bait? The reason I ask is because I now want to fish ONLY if I don't use live bait such as worms. I just don't want to kill anything if I do not have to. I'm very interested in using Bacon for bait.

I am going to my canal on Friday to start my lure campaign and will try the bacon plus its an excuse to have a bacon butty with brown sauce obviously NEVER red sauce.

when i was a young man we used to cut the full rasher up the middle and use the full length fatty strip, fished sink and draw it was a killer pike bait esp in the winter
@pgruszewski5 жыл бұрын
It's not what you use, it's how you do that 😀 I assume it's unsmoked one in the first vid? Try streaky instead of rushers next time. You could try raw, or cooked prawns too. Yellow patches behind head means grass snake. Adder doesn't have that, has heart shaped head and zig zag pattern on top of body.

I agree always treat the fish with the best care you can, but fish make bigger drops than this when they migrate through rivers, perch can survive a 50ft+ drop into water

@The_ginger_fisherman4 жыл бұрын
Why did i "need" a landing net?
@CB-xr1eg4 жыл бұрын
@@The_ginger_fisherman For the pike? I know you handlined it in but it would have been easier and better with a landing net. This type of fishing means you're always likely to hook a decent sized perch, pike or chub so going without a landing net is irresponsible really, especially as you upload and a lot of people will see it.
