Remarkable, gulp introduced softbait/ soft plastics fishing here in New Zealand in 2007, but we use way lighter gear. I use a Berkley 8 to 15lb rod, a Daiwa certate 3000 reel loaded with 200 yards of 15lb braid, with 7 feet of 20lb fluorocarbon. In water up to 100 feet we use 3/8, 1/2oz jigheads, but we cast ahead of the drift with 5 inch jerkshads We catch plenty of " snapper" like your red drum to 20lb plus. It's great fun, but the key is casting 120 feet ahead of the drift using a sea anchor

Great video, being a native of :Long Island and an avid fisherman it brings back MANY fond memories. I am, now 74 but had the fortune to fish with Frank Mundus several times when I was in my 20's. He was at that time, I believe one of the only captains that made shark fishing a specialty. Both times over several years that I had the opportunity to go out with him we ran into Tuna. The first time I had a hook Pull on a Giant after aprox 20 min. into the fight. We did however have 5 Tuna on the lines and succeeded in landing one of 608 Lbs. As Capt. Mundus remarked, "YOU will probably NEVER see a day like this again". The second time I had the fortune to fish with him, I did land a 604lb Tuna ,as there were very few sharks around, but plenty of tuna. This was in the early 70's. Anyway I enjoy the heck out of your Videos, KEEP it up and GOOD LIUCK !

@@briansupermag3918 yup I had one striper I bonked, stabbed in the brain, and bled and one of my friends they just threw it in the cooler to die a slow painful death. Well we cooked up both and the one he left in the cooler was bloody, meat wasn’t white, and tasted minerally. Needless to say I convinced him to do the necessary work of killing them and bleeding them before just throwing them into a cooler

Come to Florida instead my guy. Copy what rich does and you can get on 30-40 different species (including flounder) from a kayak. No need to pay a guide. Just rent a kayak for your time here and buy some cheap rods to go with your own reels. Don’t need crazy strong tackle, a cheap Walmart 7” inshore rod and a 2500 series reel will get you on nearly everything you can find from a kayak.
