My Pet Alligator Gar Are Growing Up!

In this video I feed my pet alligator gar Trinity and Brazos minnows that I netted from a creek. While catching minnows I rescued a baby possum from the rising water.

A few gar can reach 10 ft and weigh 365 pounds and there are stories of them reaching a monstrous length of 14 ft according to River Monsters when Jeremy Wade investigated the alligator gar

My uncle owns some property by the Trinity River in Texas, there are two massive pools about half a mile each way, one upstream and the largest pool is downstream, one day I woke up at around 5:30Am and from up high I witness two massive Gar swimming downstream, I had my kayak in the water tied to a branch and both fish swam next to it, the largest of the Gar was at least a foot and a half larger than my Pelican 10 ft Challenger. My jaw dropped, I woke everyone but by the time they came to see the fish were gone. that was an Amazing weekend.

@@urekmazino6800 from what I heard but usually gar don't harm people they couldn't fit a human arm and their jaws they can't open them that wide which is why they're Fish Eaters primarily they eat carp and they're starting to eat that invasive Asian carp that's wreaking havoc on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers and the good thing about it is that a lot of the states are starting to spawn gar and they're getting a second chance I've been released in several different states it's great that this fish will no longer be referred to as trash fish they'll be much more abundant than they were over 70 years ago when they were eradicated to Extinction in 1933

Funfact: opossum are one of the few animals that Don't carry rabbies and they rarely bite people. They will bluff though which consists of them making a lot of hissing sounds. Thank you for saving him/her , opossums are one of my favorite animals.😊

I know this is an old video but I caught a gar fingerling today, was gonna leave it but watched a skip jack get after it a few times and it eventually got close enough that I couldn't help but catch it lol. Ran to Walmart and bought a 5 gallon tank and what not. It's just chilling right now. I bought dried baby shrimp and a can of meal worms. Its been in the tank about 2 hours and I don't think it's eaten anything yet. Temp is at about 72. I've never had any pet fish before but I've raised just about any other animal you can find hers in tennessee lol. Do have any suggestions or recommendations for caring for the little fella? I've wanted to make a little freshwater fish tank for a while and I guess today my impulsiveness got the best of me lol I work on the river so I've always got my eye out for baby snakes or fish etc that I could sneak home without telling my wife lol it's only about 2.5 inches lomg so I'm worried I need to find even smaller food for it but not sure what I should try. Any help would be appreciated!! Edit: (it's a longnose gar btw)
