actually i assume he knew what he was trying to do i have to hand it to him what he did was realy clever. Id say 9 out of 10 people wil say live bait is better than fake bait and he assigned live bait to "Like" and received many likes over dislikes. He manipulated the system, he encouraged people to interact with the like and dislike system and in the end received what he realy wanted wich was likes.

minnows? get off the rocks...follow the shoreline...find the seams...the perch are a lot closer than you think...regular steelhead pole and spin reel work just fine...jeesh...bait choice? there are other berkely products that work well...and chunks..not whole baits are just as good...altho saltwater, i find for some unexplainable reason..gold hooks work wonders...if fishing like i explained..use sliding egg sinkers(2 of them above a bead above your swivel) you can double up a leader with a drop loop if you prefer, but a single hook works better in my opinion.. if questioning me...im 52 years old having fished for red tailed surf perch my entire life...last tip sir...incoming tide per my findings is always better than an outgoing one...west coaster.....

just a little tip which may or may not be of help, here in Australia we have a worm called a tube worm which looks very similar to the pile worm. instead of cutting the pinchers off thread the worm through the mouth and it will bite down on the hook and sort of lock onto the hook meaning your bait is much more secure and won't slip as much. I don't know if it will behave the same but it's near identical to a tube worm so I'm only assuming it would! God bless

I often recycle some soft plastics in the gulp juices too :-) -- Synthetics are convenient and practical for hard core hobbyists that do not plan, or have time to catch their bait. Many of my buddies from the northeast have switched from squid to gulp... for convenience alone. --- valid experiment.

Appreciate the experimentation and sharing it with us! For future experiments, consider all variables to ensure reliable conclusions. In this case, the Gulp bait was always on the bottom hook. Perhaps most fish were cruising low and that's why they went for artificial. Some variables can't be controlled, but occasionally reversing the bait positions or better, fishing with TWO rigs close by, with reversed bait positions, and the conclusion is more reliable. Polite suggestion only- it's hard to criticize your entertaining and informative content. GREAT JOB!!!! Chris

In the UK, those things are called "Rag Worm". I have dug more than enough of them that are thicker than my thumb and its only the biggest which can cause a minor stinging sensation as opposed to a bite. Sure, it can make you jump sometimes (surprise) but that's the worst I have experienced of them. Now although use both of those worm baits (Gulp and Rag) I have yet to experience a day where the artificial has beaten the real thing. Try them suspended under a float / bobber, but assuming the worms are 6" or longer, hook them an inch down from the head, thread them on carefully so as not butcher the side of the bait, fill the hook and cast out gently. Current and tide will take your gear where it needs to go, so be prepared to let out more line. Best of luck mate!

If I'm not mistaken, the Berkley Gulp Sandworm has glitter in it, hence it creates the shimmering effect under the sun light. That itself improves the bite chances
@fredflintstone15474 жыл бұрын
live bait or cut bait is virtually always better than artificial bait, unless you are fishing for farm-raised fish that have never had live food. However the Gulp-sandworms are pretty tough. I've caught three or four fish in a row on the same rubber worm and then put it back in the pouch.
@marvicty7 жыл бұрын
That big rock you were fishing at used to have a pathway that went out to it and fisherman would throw bugeye jigs for stripers. If someone hooked one, someone else would have to hold the fishing line on the northside of the rock while the fisherman would run down the path to the little beach you were on and land the striper. Once the fisherman reached the beach, he would signal the dude holding his line on the rock and tell him to let the line go. It was crazy because I remember a dude from Brisbane fell off of the front side of the rock. The dude used to drive a Corvair I remember.

You are my first subscription for surf fishing. I liked to watch the comparison. I use both. I tried my own comparison with the sand worm and lug worms. I could get 3 lug worm sections per worm.12 worms in a container. I can't remember how much. Went to seal beach. Same as you top, bottom rig. Surf was perfect. I fished sand worms on both hooks, then live on both hooks. At Seal Beach I caught a few with sand worms but killed it with lug worms, Thanks for the vid. I like the way you took the time to explain everything. No matter how small. The reading of the surf to explaining the moss on the rocks. You just taught me how to put both on the hooks. I think everyone has their own style. I was just surprised at the exposed hook. They still hit it. Thanks again.

These artificial worms would be a good idea when I'm fishing with a three hooks setup. Usually its the bottom hook that catches the most, so I could use a real sandworm on that one and use fakes on the other hooks.

@cbr600rrgraffitti4 жыл бұрын
If you tease the worm to make the pinchers come out then jam the hook between them, it's a really strong hook up. The pincher appendage is a super strong "sleeve" of tissue.
@Rygoat5 жыл бұрын
Not going to lie didnt really expect the fish to pick a gulp you've already cast so many times on over a fresh worm. That has convinced me to just go the gulp now I guess, longer lasting and if I dont use them all I can store them for later

Guess the deep part in the surf is actually the current of water outflowing from the shore, it has usually more fish since the out current brings food in form of crustaceans , smaller fish and plants from shore

I live on the Central Coast, and the Gulp bait has ALWAYS produced. The perch went off last year like crazy- it was actually difficult to find the Gulp sand worms in some stores because it was THAT good. Admittedly, I haven't had a chance to get out and fish this year (crying on the inside), but I would bet that the Gulp would produce just the same. Also, based on what I have seen, I think the Carolina rig produces far more than the 2 hook and sinker rig- no hard proof to back that up, though. All that said, I would absolutely rather spend money on the Gulp than pile worms any day of the week.

I have only used the Gullp white twister tails (little white nymphs) for bluegill and crappie and they worked great but I don't fish freshwater too often so I am not the guy to ask for sure....
