You should try a topwater spook jr I have had great luck with them at every dam that I have ever went to, and if there are stripers or white bass there you will Catch fish guaranteed plus you also will not get snagged I used to get snagged up every cast now that I have switched to a topwater it’s amazing you cast out and just crank em in with a high speed reel and to you won’t lose a single fish it also works alright for stripers in cold conditions like you are experiencing

618 fishing. Use a treble hook. Before you put it on, stick a tube jig over the treble hook. Then tie it about 12 inches above your weight. Use 1 ounce or so. Then jig it and make sure you keep it off the bottom. Or you snag all the time. And on east side. Cast straight out of the shelf about 100 feet. You shouldn't snag. Thanks for putting me in the video.
@robmartens83145 жыл бұрын

A good tip...Spillways always hold good fish lots of food coming in well oxiginated water....tip. Use a mojo weight on top of Barrell swivel...mojo weight is kind like a pencil lead but hole goes through the entire weight...a lot less snags ups....tip two fishing Spillways....Rapala Minnow deep diver... Minnow rap! ....
@rfire7315 жыл бұрын
Great video! Little tip I learned from an old timer, while fishing at a spillway just like the one your at. Try using a float, i.e. a bobber in the slack water. It keeps you from snags and works great!
@TeamActionAngling5 жыл бұрын
Another fun spillway video, good stuff. That spot reminds me of a few spillways close to me here in Canada. Because theres so many people fishing them the snags pile up. I suggest using a float set up or a drop shot with a lighter line going to your weight than your hook. That way the weight can break off but you can still catch the fish.
@GrnThmbAqua5 жыл бұрын

A suggestion, we have a species in the UK called the chub that is notorious for diving into snags, a tactic that can work if it reaches the snag is to slacken off for a few minutes, the theory being the fish doesnt feel the pressure any more and leaves the snag.It does work sometimes and its certainly better than pulling lol
@ethanstukenberg27285 жыл бұрын
Use a spoon and play it right over the bottom and you will catch quite a few fish

If you are fishing rivers and spillways, you have got to switch to braid. You can get super light braid that has a 2lb mono thickness that is 10-20 lb test, break offs will be over. Then you can horse through those snags and even pull those wads of old line or break through them.
