The only way to stay committed while throwing a swimbait is to only bring that one rod, only bring your swimbait rod and a few swimbaits. Then you'll start catching em.

My first hudd fish was 9 hrs on the water of throwing it all day. My nephew was done and it was one of those last cast deals. Hooked into a 10.1 and she had 4 with her that were pretty close to her size. Just have to stay committed.

If you're gonna fish the hudd, fish the 8" and leave all your other rods at home. You have to put it in your mind you're fishing for a few bites (depending on the body of water) and those are quality bites. And if you fish were they stock stay close to the ramps where they dump them and adjacent areas. Keep your head in it. I've never caught anything on the 68 but multiple fish on the 8.

You had a Weedless 68. Drag that thing through the junk. Swimbaits have "draw power", and those bass will come out of the brush to look at/eat it. I've seen it happen hundreds of times in my lakes. Keep that in mind, and good luck next time out with it.

Instead of dropping a finesse bait into the grass just drag that weedless Huddleston thru it. Isn't that the reason you got the weedless one? I've yet to try the hudd but I have been using a 8 inch line thru trout lure the last year and I've caught hundreds of bass on it all from my kayak. Just sticking to it and it's paid off. Keep at it. Make it your confidence bait.

Greg, you are going to have to explain your drag settings while dropshotting?
@GregBlanchardFishing4 жыл бұрын
referring to why it's loose? mainly the light line and the potential for a big fish to make a run or be skin hooked and pop free. I used to keep it pretty tight and I lost way more fish. I think folks get annoyed with how lose it is but i'd say might hookup to land ratio with these settings are >98% so why change ya know
@LillyLegacyWWOD4 жыл бұрын
Greg Blanchard, thanks for the response! I’ve always fished mine very tight, usually just assuming a if the fish was big enough it would pull drag but I had never thought that about losing ones that might just be skinned hooked. Thanks for the info, as always love the videos!

Slooow down there buddy. Reeling way too fast. 6 seconds per handle turn. Plus you are in open water... why are you using a weedless bait.. the hook up percentage is very low on that style so why use it now? The hudd rolls over rocks easy with the top hook.
@GregBlanchardFishing4 жыл бұрын
yep, gotta slow down. I was throwing it in and around submerged bushes/trees for part of the day
@jacobbean69264 жыл бұрын
@@GregBlanchardFishing I would also try the 8 inch rather than the 6 inch. I understand that most people think going smaller will get you more bites and sometimes that is correct. But you are mainly trying to present a big meal. A slow moving big meal. The 8 inch has more draw power and 2 lbers can even eat it. Thanks for the reply and Im a big fan of your channel.
