Another fine painting, Patrick! One day I'm going to try one. I really love the new sparkle, looseness and vibrancy we're seeing in your work lately. So relaxing to watch you paint, see your process, hear your voice. I love that you don't try or pretend to be perfect and show us where you had problems and what you loved. I love that yellow boat so much!

Just came in from shopping, and was very happy to see a new video. You are so right about keep going to the end. It’s great how the boats blended so well with the background and it all came together. I will bet you will really enjoy the new turquoise paint. Thank you so much for the video, I need to try boats again.

Thanks Essie I’m pleased you enjoyed it. It was a very satisfying painting to paint because it was so loose and impressionistic I could just go for it. I felt myself hesitating at the start of the painting but freed up as I went along. 😀

Pure Watercolour Patrick Ley-Greaves I wouldn’t call it hesitating, lets just call it making adjustments as the painting progressed. That’s an important part.

Hi Patrick. I really appreciated when you talked about hesitation, trying to decide what you were going to do. It was helpful that the footage wasn't sped up so that I could see your hesitation and wonder along with you .... "Why is is hesitating?" Terrific teaching video! The dry brush turned out really well. I'll look forward to hearing about how the turquoise works for you, especially how it mixes and the results you get. Thanks for another really fine painting.

Thanks Patricia I’m pleased you enjoyed it. I felt myself hesitating a lot in that video. I think we don’t realise how much thought goes into our painting. Many small decisions are made with each stroke. After a 4 hour painting session I can feel quite tired! Looking forward to seeing more of your work when your ready.

I always wished I’d videoed the first few paintings, I thought it would be helpful to others and hopefully now I’d realise how much I have learnt. Everybody on KZbin is accomplished.

Really enjoyed the freedom of the painting, something I am going to try as I tend to want to paint every single detail. Very refreshing. Thank you.

Very much enjoyed watching you paint this scene and I’m impressed with the quality and rich colour of the cotman paints, I have a similar cotman palette to yours but havent used it in years, will give it a run I think. Having said, I too have had a break from painting for a couple of months, always hard to dive back in

I’m finding the Cotman tubes just get better. I hope you find them useable. I hope you find your way back to painting soon. Your a talented artist who creates beautiful work.

Enjoy your Cotman turquoise. I think it is a most lovely and useful color. Cotman turquoise is my favorite. I add a drop of vegetable glycerine to my cotman colors that I dry down to keep them from cracking and help rewet easier. Cotman are good paints no matter what the watercolor snobs say. 😉👍😁

I agree totally. Cotman paints are superb. Thank you for the tip to I’m sure to use it.

Beautiful painting Patrick; thank you! I learned a lot. I was surprised to hear that you like Cotman paints. I have some Cotman pans, but don't use them very often because they are more difficult to activate, and they don't provide a richness of color. Do you use Cotman from tubes? If so, they must be much better. Have a blessed day!
@PatrickLeyGreaves5 жыл бұрын
Yes I love Cotman paints I start with pans and refill with tubes. I spray with water occasionally if they look as if there drying out. Thank you for commenting 😀
