FISHING ESCAPE to the Wool Bay Jetty, YORKE PENINSULA

Great video mate, just recently found your videos, enjoying watching all my old favourite haunts, and how much the jetties have changed in 10 years since I left sa, your right about Tommy ruff, 10 years in North Queensland some great fishing but miss the Tommy best tasting under rated little fish. Scaled gutted floured cooked whole or fillets but of butter salt pepper under the grill or fillets packed in salt for 2 weeks then rinsed of into container add canola oil to cover cup of vinegar few pepper corns half chilli leave in fridge for 2 weeks then eat them with cold beers

@@MattsFishingEscapes came up as a KZbin suggestion, I watch any video showing York peninsula, used to fish it most weeks, was a chef at the seagate in moonta fished that jetty every day, then I worked at the ardrossan pub Thursday through to Monday night I fished the jetty every night after work. Then go home Tuesday night, caught lots of good mulloway of ardrossan even some snapper

@vasilisouris4853 ah cool. Yeah I live between the Barossa and Yorkes so it is my go to destination... need to book a long weekend there soon. Have some RDO's banked up and want to hit some winter salmon. Just respooled my 4000 Stradic with my T Curve surf ready for it! Love Yorke's!

Hey Matt, I reckon you had a sneaky cormorant steel your squid teaser . Or salmon maybe small shark. I was fishing at Parara campground beach a 3 of us got reeled by something big. Lines snapped off. No idea what it was . Ended up with good size King George whiting and squid and Tommies high tide 5pm. Happy days. Cheers for your great channel.

Cheers Stephen... didn't feel like a shag and I hadn't seen any around. A small bronzey would make sense given how it moved. Though was middle of winter which is strange. Thanks for stopping by!

Have you done much fishing in West lakes? My son has had some good days there with king George whiting and got a big leather jacket there also.ppl that can't get to far away might be interested

I have fished there a couple of times. I prefer to drive to Yorke Peninsula where I'm guaranteed more to actually catch something edible... 😆

Hey Josh thanks. I was on Port Noarlunga jetty for about 5 hours Sunday. Lots of salmon around my burley bag. None on the lures... def want to do a beach session! Waitpinga def on the list!

@MattsFishingEscapes yeah I personally find at port noarlunga there's not much caught down there but there is always fish around the jetty lol, Yeah definitely worth a fish at waitpinga caught like 40 with a mate a little while back!

@@JoshFerguson-jl7vy will definitely want to give it a go. I just re spooled my 4000 stradic that is paired on my 11" 3-6 KG TCurve Surf... Should be the perfect setup for the job! Hopefully, I can get a video out of it!

in my opinion the fishing on the YP gets better the further down it you go Wool Bay Giles Edithburgh (get whiting off the jetty) fishermans jetty (small jetty in Edithburgh) Troubridge point for rock and surf fishing all the way down to Marion Bay and Stenhouse bay the surf beaches around the bottem end Point Turton is worth a shot for a kingie in summer

No doubt.... hard to do some of those more southern destinations in a day trip from Barossa... but will look to get over for a longer trip.

Definitely an opportunity. Many of my trips to Yorkes are generally day trips. So Berry Bay and Lower Yorkes is a bit far for 1 day. Hoping to be able to spend a few days over a weekend at Lower Yorkes soon! Thanks for the tip!

another great video matt, the fish were really on again! we don't scale the fish at all, just fillet and skin them, give it a try next time, no strong flavour, and they freeze OK also, see you next time mate!

Great session Matt. Good fun and a good feed. So many great places on Yorkes. Was this on the long weekend? We usually just dust in flour and fry. Can't beat the flavour of fresh fish.

Yes Kevin this was on Saturday of the long weekend. I was going to go again Monday but didn't want to deal with the holidaying traffic. Yes, I love them with Tandaco fish coating or salt n pepper coating on the BBQ. Nice crispy skin. It's a pity there weren't more squid as Wool Bay has a reputation for squid. But not on this occasion.

Iv used a Weber or a hooded bbq to smoke them the main way we do them but r good in flour salt and pepper
