We used to climb back up to the carpark at Locks Well with 3 - 4..... 2kilo+ Salmon rope strung through the gills, before the stairs were built...I bet you had a hard time going back up ..I know you did..:).....the best thing to do is to take a minute break every 15 metres going up....

We got spooled here one night ..mate was using a 80lb fully rollered rod matched with a Penn 12/0 all attached to a shoulder harness....could not tighten drag at all, unless you wanted to end up in the drink....we think it was either a ''huge'' Black Ray or a ''huge'' White Pointer shark

I go down to the rocks at Marino regularly mate and i always caught squid but not much luck with anything else rock cod and stuff! I’m trying to get a snook or something on the lure but no luck yet 😢
@MattsFishingEscapes13 күн бұрын
They are definitely there... at Port Vincent off the break water, the snook seems to be more active near the bottom of the low... so that may be worthwhile trying... but I don't know if I have the budget to lose too many more lures 🤣

Hey mate, where did you get your berley bag?
@MattsFishingEscapes13 күн бұрын
Most tackle shops have them. It's called a wash bag I think. I think this one was from Gawler Outdoors, but sport fishing scene and others would have them too

@MattsFishingEscapes13 күн бұрын
Yeah this is my second one now. This would be quite versatile as a rod. I caught a snook on soft plastic after I ended the recording and it handled it really well! I could see this being great for whiting on the flats too!

Hi Matt, geeat job on keeping your channel going, being a challenge for land based fishing footage. just a tails up about an easy way for telling Tommies from salmon trout. Tomies have a dark/black finish on the tips of their tail, where S/Trout do not. Keep it up, and keep it in!

You were exactly on my favourite spot at my favorite place. At 66 now that walk home is bit taxing. As a passionate keen scuba diver 25 years ago that was an insane jetty dive. Got underwater photos. Can't dive it now since they electrified the pylons and you can't go as far out as you used to be able to. Living over here means I get to go there as often as I'm willing to do that walk up the hill🤣

Just seen one of your videos and you speak of fishing and mental health. My 27yo son suffers anxiety but we have never been able to get him to talk to anyone about it.i think at his age he feels it embarrassing but he says when he is anywhere fishing by himself it calms him right down and he says its the one major thing that relaxes him. I've never been a keen fisherman I wish he could do a trip like you do.thanks for your videos
@MattsFishingEscapes29 күн бұрын
There is no need to be embarrassed about mental health. He'll be surprised if he starts talking about it how open people are. Talking about it and being vulnerable is a strength, not weakness. The first step is to see Dr. and get a mental health plan. But yes, fishing is a great outlet for my anxiety, too.

I think a ban zone around St Kilda would be good to stop all the small fish being caught and released before they reach breeding size as their survival rate is very low after release. to catch your 10 legals up there you work through 40 odd fish that very few oif survive, in all reality you might as well just take all 40 as the same damage is being done to the fish stock. Its like "upgrading" a just over legal fish to a bigger fish, the survival rate is low and the practice should be banned I m a keen fisho and believe mother nature needs respect - it isn't a theme park out there still appreciate your videos boyz ! but reckon you need to move away from the nursery not sure that a 3 hook rig is legal - id look up PIRSA!!!! TOP HOOK- I loop a hook through the top eye that you connect the swivel to if fishing tall weed as the tingas take them better and less snagging tight lines lads
@MattsFishingEscapesАй бұрын
Hey, thanks for that... how do you find out about survival rates? That's all new. Interested to learn more. Re the 3 hooks, the PIRSA website says: "Rods and handlines Each person can use up to 2 rods or 2 handlines or one of each. Each line can have one of the below: up to 3 hooks attached up to 5 hooks joined eye to shank or threaded together (this is considered as 1 hook)." It's always worth checking local regulations... Appreciate you taking the time and your tips!
