I’d love to get an update on the chemical dump in the creek. If we don’t do more work to stop large corps from ruining nature, we will lose it eventually. I’m glad you guys did the right thing and reported it, and no I’m not a hippie or anything but I love hunting and fishing and it sucks to see it getting ruined!

@Jon B. ...former cast member and fellow fishing enthusiast here ...tips for a fishing spot at Disney World. I worked at Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom WDW for a little while and there is a creek that runs behind it and the new Tron coaster. There's a million places to fish on Disney World property especially Gonzo style but I'm really only intimately familiar with this one cuz as an employee I wouldn't risk losing my job over it when I could go fishing in million other places in the Orlando area but it was discussed among the other enthusiasts I worked with LOL. There used to be some great spots behind the Living Seas at Epcot where I worked primarily at but I think those are gone or mostly not accessible now.... anyway I am not sure what the condition of it is now specifically in the aftermath of the Tron construction next to the Mountain, but when I was there several years ago which is before the new construction it was in really good shape being full of fish and other critters including a 5-6 foot female alligator that we called Trixie. When we took clandestine "smoke" breaks in particular it was behind the Mountain....we used to walk back there and visit with Trixie who was very mellow and used to people. I have seen maintenance casting rods in there on occasion though it didn't always go well for them cuz Trixie would pay a call probably looking for food as I am certain people threw their lunch leftovers to her. LOL Disney goes out of its way to try to preserve as much of the watershed as possible whenever they add new construction. I can see them having to divert some of that and perhaps relocate Trixie especially during the process, but my point was that a lot of it is beyond the burm and fence and reachable if you parked at the Contemporary's convention facility across the street from Space Mountain along the monorail maintenance track that goes back to the barn looping around to the cast member utilidor entrance and parking lot. It's viewable on Google. The only people that regularly drive that route beyond the convention area are cast members and occasionally locals that lived north of the Magic Kingdom. However there isn't hardly any housing that way for quite some distance. I think if you went on a non busy day or time of year especially if it was icky outside cold or rainy you can probably sneak back there without getting noticed especially now that Tron is open and most of the vegetation has been replanted and starting to regrow. I'm not sure how long you'd have before you'd get spotted and told to vacate because none of Disney World as you know is public property. If they haven't f***** it up too much it should be excellent fishing. I would be on the lookout for cottonmouths of course especially since it's not disturbed by people much. It really just depends on how long it's been since there's been a lot of human activity behind there. I could imagine that those would return especially with the good fishing and little normal disturbance except the background noise. Feel free to drop me a Gmail if you have any questions about behind-the-scenes cast member tips for exploring less than public areas at Disney World... though I imagine you probably know other people that are more familiar with the recent changes. I purposely don't like to share a lot of this publicly as some people aren't very responsible at respecting the nature that is everywhere that the public don't go at Disney World. In some ways it's a giant Nature Preserve. It's clear they are a lot more responsible than Six Flags and its water park are there in Arlington. PS if you were thinking about trying to fish inside one of the parks I wouldn't bother as they search bags now when you enter so it's not like you could hide a rod which is something I'm certain they wouldn't let you bring in and even if you did manage to like hide it in your pant leg or something if they caught you they might also tresspass you and earn you a Disney World ban. The days of the light touch from security within the parks is gone... that said just outside the park perimeters on Disney World property is another story... you're mostly going to deal with Reedy Creek Public Safety and Disney security and not Orange County Sheriffs(which do drive that route on a rare occasion) if you do at all ...with them most likely just warning you and telling you to leave.

Great job, JonB, for reporting that environmental hazard. Its a shame that corporations dump chemicals into waterways and they need to be held accountable. Here in North Alabama, 3M regularly poisons the Tennessee River and most times without being fined and they have no regards in continuing to do so because theres no harsh penalties that qpuld discourage them. If you could only smell the air around 3M in Decatur, AL.
