Field Trips with Robert Field

6 жыл бұрын

In this episode I’m in central Georgia chasing a subspecies of bass only found in 3 rivers in Georgia: the shoal bass. These bass look like a cross between smallmouth and spotted bass, and they’re known for their strong fight in swift current. We land a few MONSTERS.
Watch until the end for a funny request from me. Comment below if you saw it!

Hahaha as I travel the country, I think there will be more and more fishing outside of the kayaks. Some areas and some fisheries just lend themselves better to bank fishing or boat fishing or whatever. I'll adapt where I need to to give myself the best shot at whatevre fish I'm chasing!

I fished alot on the Flint, mostly at Flat Shoals and Dripping Rock. If you like this area thank then Gov Carter for requesting the Corp of Eng to stop the building of a dam at Spewell Bluff, if you fish there try using a lure that imitates a crawfish, I always found them in their stomachs when cleaning those small mouths... and the red belly bream are great there also especially with a flyrod..

You definitely want to do at least 2 days on the Buffalo. The northern half of the river is more rapids and the fishing isn’t as good but it’s absolutely beautiful. Towards the middle of the river the fishing picks up. It’s a great smallmouth river!

Shoal bass fight harder than strip bass. 5lb shoal fights like a 10lb striper. I live local and float the upper Chattahoochee. Mossy creek to belton bridge. Early summer after 1 week of non rain is best. Water is crystal clear. Chatter bait with a white fluke is the lure of choice

Rob, i really enjoy your content, videography skills and the excitement and enthuthiasum you bring to the show. I think what you are doing is an amazing adventure that i wish i could be on as well. The one thing that is a real turn off for me, and maybe it's just me, is the length of time you keep the fish out of the water while talking. I want to hear you talk, but if you held the fish in the water or just let it go, it would make me feel much better. I can see the fish forever just by pausing the video! Thanks Rob, felt I had to share my thoughts on the only way I see that your channel could improve. Other than that, AMAZING!

Hey man quick question. Did you park your truck at the outdoor center down the river? If so how long was the float? Group of guys and I are doing the Flint shortly and I'm trying to figure out the logistics. Love the channel by the way. Been binge watching all your content.

Ummm I’m not really sure. It was right there by the campground, maybe even in the campground. I don’t remember

Ocean Kayaks makes some solid boats for a decent price offshore. I prefer the Hobies but they aren't cheap.
