Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

Back in the day when I went fishing I used Abu Garcia bait cast reels and grafite rods. Used Strike King true turn hooks and purple tail worms. Throwing into a brush pile, letting it sink. Waiting for a minute or so and gave a small twitch, seen my line slowly move setting the hook caught a 5lbs large mouth bass. So exhilarating. So I understand. Keep up with the videos.

I always thought fish would get spooked by seeing a fish get caught and torn out of the water… but then I spot fished a bass who would not take the bait. I put it in the bed, right in front of his face. Wouldn’t take it. Then another bass came over and says “you’re not gonna eat that?” And swallows my lure. I threw him back, right on the fish I was trying to catch. Didn’t even spook him. Next cast, same cast as before, the dang fish hit it so fast I didn’t even know what happened. He just hooked himself and that was that. Lol

I never have long term luck with ponds and the people that live around them…..Igor kicked outta my honey hole right beside my house. I caught my PB (5 pounder) largie out of it. Went back a couple weeks later and some dude said he’d call the cops. I left peacefully and won’t ever be going back. Some people just HATE when others have a good time. I would even pick up trash and unwanted debris as I made my way around the pond. I wasn’t too sad about it. Caught the biggest bass in that little pond for sure. On to the next honey hole 😊
