I love the fishing mechanic! It's chill but still requires some focus. I also like the idea of crafting bait from bugs and how the froggy says "Thanks, I had my eye on that, ribbit!" when you sell something. So cute!!

@@realdevfrog You could add a nursery at the ocean and players can sometimes fish up tadpoles an any fishing spot that they can then grow at the nursery to get a new ocean/water based design frog. I think frogs stay temporarily right? So once its grown up then itll stay for a while but become permanetly unlocked to be seen again in the future.

When making a store that sells and buys the same items, it is generally a good idea to make a fish more expensive to buy than the amount of money you would get from selling the fish. Thus keeps the player from using the shopkeeper as a “storage system” for the item, and selling every fish that they catch and buying them back if they have need for them. For example, if a swordfish sells for 15 coins, make it so is costs 18 coins to buy it. This way, the player will be encouraged to keep a stockpile of fish so that they have some in hand if they need them. It would also be nice if you could collect the shells on the beach, similar to animal crossing, an maybe the palm trees could drop coconuts? Just a few suggestions. Have been around since about devlog 2, and have been enjoying seeing the game progress! Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much!! Im so sorry I forgot to clarify in the video, the fish in the shop are just placeholders for now and will be replaced with ocean-related toys and items! I definitely agree it would be silly if the player could just buy fish instead of catching them :) And yes, I 100% wanna add the option to shake palm trees (and other fruit trees) for coconuts, and let players collect seashells among other foragables!

Great devlog! The water animations are super pretty! And the angler frog, well, if it was forcibly turned into a marketable plushie, I would buy it. When it comes to fish, a large variety of visually unique and creative fish that come out depending on time of day or other different factors (like maybe the bait implemented in the mini game) keeps the fishing fun and unpredictable. As somebody who enjoys fishing in games, that’s what really keeps me going (and yes, I’m the kind of insane person who wants fish up sea dragons). This has got to be probably one of the more unique fishing games I’ve seen in a game and it seems quite fun!.

It's so hard to believe it's been a year! I absolutely love these fishing mechanics, but I have one issue. If you can just buy these fish, why would you go fishing in the first place? I think the fish you can buy should either be pretty expensive, and/or have a limited stock- Just want to say, the art and gameplay looks like it's really coming together :)

I love the fishing mechanic! It looks so nice, and even though it's probably just about the same as Stardew's mechanic under the hood, the way you designed it where you have to focus on the line tension instead of a fish that's flying wildly up and down makes it so much more relaxing! Suggestion: What if there were several mini games for fishing and with the base pole and nothing else you had a 33.33% chance of randomly getting any one. But with purchaseable add-ons you can rase the chance of getting a specific one or that one exclusively? The fishing looks really fun. Yeah, it feels Stardew Valley-esque but I think its just different enough to be its own thing. But the 3 bait types currently all do/feel the same. You should make all of them different in some way, so the Player can choose their own fishing style. (I assume you have that planned) An in-game describtion would also help. And when hovering over bait in the fishing minigame, let the names show up, bc I will forget what is what.

Right now the only thing that differentiates the bait apart is the increased chances to catch rarer fish/items, so it would definitely be cooler if they did more than just that :0 By own fishing styles, do you mean levels of difficulty? Because I was planning on leaving that for the different types of fish that can be caught rather than the bait themselves And yes a lil description that pops up would definitely help, I'll be adding that!

It's so great to see another update :D Fishing is my fave activity in Stardew, but it is true it can be frustrating at times... your system seems to be really simple yet fun :) Do you plan on adding finish levels as all or is the bait the only difference? It might have missed it, but I don't think you explained how they are different from each other, if you did I'm sorry, English is not my first language :( Also, have you considered adding a fishtank or a small decorative fishpond? And maybe a special dialog if the player caught more rare fish and is selling it? (The Angler Fish is adorable btw!) Watching progress of your game is amazing, I simply love your artstyle! I wonder if it might be nice to add a toggle for making fishing more simple or not. Having your minigame be the default, and an option to add a more animal crossing-esque click to reel-in experience? Just a thought since fishing mini games can be polarizing, so having options might be neat :)

Are the different baits for different fish or do they shorten the wait time between fish or? Also, why would you buy fish? Is that for the cooking minigame? I also feel like the animations of the fishing rod are a bit too slow and they could be punchier and more satisfying. That's polish though but thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't though of it. The game is looking super cosy and cute though! I love the variety of frogs and the art style feels like a warm hug!

Oh this sounds pretty similar to the way spiritfarer (which I liked) when the line goes red you need to stop holding down and just click/tap to keep from losing progress. Will that also be part of the mechanic? I'm relieved it's not going to be like stardew because as much as I love that game I Struggle with the fishing lol Also would you consider putting in fish tanks/ponds so we can keep a few of the fish we catch as friends? (maybe as like a later update post release)

It will!! Players will have to keep tapping to keep the lil fish icon above the seaweed at the bottom or else the fish will escape :) And yes, I have plans to add fish tanks and ponds to add fish to!!

Thank you!! I think for now, the only purpose to fishing would be to make money, do the daily fishing quests (to also make money lol), cook seafood dishes, complete collections However! I plan on adding some secret sidequest-related items that will require the player to fish up certain objects (pendants, treasures, bottles), and even aquatic seeds that can be planted on the farm that can only be obtained via fishing :) If you have any other suggestions do let me know!

Very nice. Only thing that is a miss for me is the twitchy water graphics. The game overall looks very calm ale fluid but the water is not making me feel that good. I dont wanna be a buzz killer, but are yo sure you want fish to be fish ? You are a frog after all, what frogs eat out of rivers? Larvae? Small swimming bugs, maybe just the littlest of fish.
