Easily one of my favorite ways to fish, I really got into the spotties last year at the beginning of the pandemic. Kept me sane during the lockdown, plus they are so tough. Especially when you get into one with some size. Keep it up Benjie.

Agreed Rudy, the bigger grade spotties are no joke and truly pound for pound fighters. Plus, there are so many techniques and applications to experiment with to keep things fun.

Man, those inflatables look fun! Interesting that even with a motor they're cheaper than a kayak, which says to me that kayaks must be way overpriced. The only reason I can think why is that kayaks are so trendy right now. I can't stand paying a premium just to be trendy. Also, I'm not a lazy guy but when I'm focused on fishing and getting to where the fish are I'd much rather have a motor than have to pedal/paddle to get there. Great and informative video as always, brother.
@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
If/when I do invest in a watercraft, it'll be one of these for sure. With that said, there's pros/cons to both options. I'd say one benefit of a kayak is there's no threat of leaks. While these inflatables are super durable, leaks are always a possibility. But for me, I simply don't have space in my garage and the transferring of these from house to water seems to be much more efficient. And yes, I'm just like you....I'd much prefer a motor compared to peddling lol!
@twinfinG3 жыл бұрын
In all the time I’ve been using these boats, leaks have never been an issue. 1100 denier PVC is pretty strong stuff.

Hey nice video! I’m thinking of getting my inflatable boat with a little motor on the bay too. You needed to register the boat with the dmv right? Did you also need a boating card? What else?
@BenjieKimFishing Жыл бұрын
Yes to boat registration. I recommend getting it done at AAA, way easier. I believe no on the boating card. According to a quick google search, I'm seeing that you only need one for motors of 15 hp and higher. Mine's a 3.5 so I'm in the clear. Tight lines.
@thatonebeone3 жыл бұрын
will that boat with 6hp be fast to push 2 people quick around the bay or maybe even la jolla to catch yellow tail? how fast you going with that set up with you and gear on it?
@twinfinG3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Although these boats are not built for speed, 6hp will push a single person with a days worth of gear 14mph. My 2.5 does 6-8 mph and I have fished lajolla with both.

I’m thinking about taking the leap from kayak to Scout. How did you like it? Worth the few thousand bucks?
@twinfinG3 жыл бұрын
You can actually get into a Scout for less than a few thousand. A boat and a new motor will run you around 2k. If you can find a used motor, you can be in the game for much less.
@myotherlinefishing3 жыл бұрын
@@twinfinG right on. I was thinking about $3000 out the door. Thanks!

@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
haha, thanks for the comment Devin, appreciate it. Spotty culture is catch and release only, kind of like largemouth bass. They are legal to keep if 14" and I'm sure some do, but its not ever gonna be my thing.
