Hi mate. Planning to go fishing in golden bay this long weekend. Is kingfish already in the shallow in this time of the year?

Hey, I think it's still a little too early for them. The water is probably still too cold. I would stay it starts firing up in December.

@@Fishingreminder where is the good spot for rock fishing here at nelson? I just moved here from auckland.
@Fishingreminder4 жыл бұрын
@@akomamasolay5574 Not too many rock fishing spots around. Cable Bay is probably your best option for rock fishing. Further out around Kaiteriteri are a few rocks as well.

I had a bit of luck kayak fishing out at the headland on the left hand side of the beach. There is a reef not far out from the point.

Where can we buy your book.
@Fishingreminder3 жыл бұрын
I bought mine years ago from top catch in Auckland. But if you Google spot x books you should find it. I think marine deals sells them for example.

Don’t give all the spots away let people find it for themselves next time you go back it’ll be fished out!

Thanks for the comment. I can see your point. I'm more worried about trawlers cleaning out the place though. I've seen quite a few and after they've been through the fishing is pretty bad. The recreational fishing spots are publicly available anyway and those are only the main spots, there's heaps more to explore. I do hope people fish sustainably and only take what they need rather than taking home their limit each time they go fishing. Me and my wife can feed of a good sized snapper for a whole week and eat everything from head to tail. I believe it's still more sustainable than going to the supermarket and supporting the commercial fisheries. Plus it's still not that easy to catch a fish. Location is only part of the equation.
