This spot is ok for kids, if they are very young do be careful as it's an easy spot for kids that are too young to fall in the water. The small pier maybe a good choice. Course if they're not that young it's indeed a great place! No shade cover though.... parking is $5 and weekend/holidays is $6. They check the cars parked everyday to make sure everyone paid. Letting you know cause they get upset when people don't pay the parking fee. Wish you the best, and let us know how it goes there! Ken & Lea

Good catch of different fish always like that. Two best parts of the video was in the beginning Lea carrying all the gear and you have the empty bucket, and then she using the bucket as a net. 😆😆

Yeah I enjoy multi species days! Kept some variety going heh. Funny thing is, with all that top water action I expected more. Perhaps we needed to toss out some Top Water Lures. Sighs... David, I'm shocked you didn't mention when I was helping that guy get his Bass off the hook, when the Bass shook that top Treble hook went right into my finger, past the barb. Somehow got it out quickly and minimal damage. Not as bad our 2 trips to Miller Park Striper fishing, Lea was casting with a 3oz weight. During her cast her line got stuck on a branch. When she casted it pulled hard on the branch, broke loose and that 3oz weight broke off and flew about 20' right into my right eye socket. Within 1 second I fell to one knee grabbing my face. I thought and it felt like it had broke my eye socket. Even my eye didn't feel correct. Alas in a week's time the eye feels fine and don't think it fractured any facial bones. Yes... it hurt. @@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 Fishing is a blood sport . You were lucky that treble hook came out so easy. Last week had a catfish fin me in the palm of my hand and was stuck there. Had to grab the catfish and gave one big F bomb and yank that fin out. Made me real sick for about a hour. Very hard loading the truck and driving home. Soak my hand for a few days and ok now. I was worry about infection . Keep the good videos coming

Thanks boss means a lot! Too sweet. We don't target Bass much anymore (mostly Trout, Striper & Sunfish) but we do at times. Lea still does. That's a HOG to be sure! At times miss Bass fishing... but Stripers & Sunfish at times bring the action! Man 6lb, that's a BEAST! So what do you like about fishing Westgate Landing boss? Ken & Lea

You mean him not throw one? Well moments after he caught it he was so excited and I was right in his face trying to film and aid him. Didn't really give him a chance to free it. I knew it was unwise of me, but always lived it a bit rougher. Btw the Barb did go into the finger. I used some technique to free it past the Barb. Been known to go with broken bones at times. Till pain became unbearable. Once that was 2 weeks. Still the smart person would go to the ER heh. Hope you're enjoying the vids! Ken & Lea

@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 I’m not talking about him freeing it I’m just saying being able to take out the treble hook, because treble’s are hard to handle if you don’t use them. If he would’ve just lipped the fish he could’ve easily taken that out or could’ve helped you take it out. As soon as you got hooked he was scared to grab the fish still. I’m just saying for a person that is not comfortable with holding/handling a fish to not throw a treble bait if they can’t get a hold of the fish and risk injuring themselves or in this case, somebody else badly. I Love the videos though man, hope to come across you guys one day !

@@onefaith487 Yeah that's kind of what I thought you were saying. Again he was excited, also seems a bit young. I do agree with the firm and quick grasp of the lower lip. I knew when I made that move good chance if the Bass put some efforts in shaking I'm liking to get a hook. Was willing to help the guy out, really though I could pop the hook quick enough. Should have masked my movements from the fish. Funny thing is the day was slow for everyone think most of us went into lazy mode not paying attention. He was stunned when he hooked it, think we all were. I had JUST tossed about 50 casts in the area with 2 different lures. He was about 15 casts in. My bad long winded. Right on thanks for that! Truely an honor! Btw.... the hook did indeed hurt.

@@onefaith487 Hah, man that's pretty much what happened. Just wasn't thinking much on it. Had the film and bad fishing on mind. No joke a moment before I reached for that hook I considered it. SOOO thought I could clear that hook quick enough! Still a great spot when the bite is on! Can get HOT out there though. Got next vid coming out very soon, didn't go as well as I wanted. Hope the vid will still be entertaining. Got next trips in the works... thanks boss again an honor! Without you all we'd just stop posting the vids. P.S. from time to time even we watch some of them, perhaps to find how that time of year previous years did. Also if we forgot a set up we had used. My bad long winded. Ken & Lea

I stopped there while visiting a cousin in Terminous. I parked and was walking just to get a look over the levee to see if I might be interested in going there sometime. Some older guy claimed to work there and was giving me a hard time for not paying to park. I wasn't carrying any gear and I told him I just wanted a peek at the cove. He wasn't having any of it and demanded I leave. He was friendly like a rattlesnake. I would be afraid to leave my vehicle unattended there.

Omg sorry about. Fairly sure that is the "Grounds Keeper". He has a Wife there with him and their pet dog. They make rounds a few times a day to check if people paid or breaking any rules. They do have a "short fuse" when it comes to people not paying. I think they are too harsh! But have seen some people "willingly" skip payment. So hard time for them. I feel the cars are fairly safe there. Mainly cause nothing else is really around there and fair amount of people don't know or can't find it. You can also fish JUST after the stairs on the Pier or Shore. So you can keep an eye on your car. Hope this helps, we also hope you enjoy the videos! Comment any time we don't mind! Ken & Lea

Yeah we weren't "racking them up" and not the sizes we were looking for. But the bites were there fair amount, felt like so many different types of fish there at the moment. The little top water shows I did enjoy! We're actually heading out tomorrow to film the next episode! Bit of an extra bonus in the next video... so we hope heh. Getting a chance to go out yourself? Camera tells all, perhaps a Draw String Curtain in front of the lens? Use that when we pull up those 5" Bluegill heh

@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 I fish for everything. Start the year off with fishing for trout then when stripers rolls in I'll go strictly for stripers. Since stripers slowed way down I'm targeting panfish or cat now. It's been pretty slow on that front too. I don't really eat the fish that i catch. If I do it'll be the stripers and panfish. I mostly fish to give to my parents. There's no such thing as a bad day when you got lines in the water. It's better than sitting at home. Good luck on your next adventure

@@KnightOfZero117 Right on about fishing for everything! Recon not like us or yourself to be limited to one type of fish. Funny you say that, we did Striper today and was a bit slower. We figured would be. I'm thinking water temps around 70 and Sunfish should be coming closer to shore for spawning? Around summer/fall I think. Sounds like you know the deal. I hear you on eating fish! Lea eats them more than me. However, I do eat some and also fond of Sunfish/Striper meals. I'd add to that Salmon, Trout & Sturgeon. Glad you're getting some fishing in to, keep us posted on any nice catches!

Me personally? I feel safe enough. I stand my ground very firmly and have the experience to make that point. However, is it safe there in general? I'd say fairly yes. It's a bit harder to find, so less people go. Most boats are just worried about boating. Many show to fish. Also at time's you'll see the "Managers" there, often with thier large dog. As you know... no place is totally safe. This place shouldn't be too bad. It is a little unsafe for younger kids. Many ways to fall in the water and the shore is full with those nasty rocks.

Heh yeah Greg I hear ya. Often times I don't think about it as I normally don't like using them as live bait. Now a spider I'd step on (hate those things). Still we did a FEW times and I'll probably/maybe do it a time or two more. Now cut meat I'm with heh! Which brings up, you think the bites would still be decent enough with fresh cut fish meat? I'd guess yea, it won't have that "Triggered Strike" affect from a live one.
