I don’t own a boat so do mostly land based fishing. Living in NE Florida gives me access to either beach, inshore and pier fishing. Lately I have been doing more pier fishing and really have been enjoying it. Like you I bring a few different rods and set ups. I really think my skills have been getting better because I have to be more dialed in while on the pier. Thanks and great video

Great video Brant! Lots of great catching going on in this one. Certainly one of the calmest pier videos I’ve seen in a long time. Love the whole bake on the mackerel. And here in Atlantic Canada, loved going fishing for our mackerel and pan frying in butter with a light dusting of flour. Just like we did smelts. Thanks for sharing!!!

Wishing I was there, it seemed like a fun day to be on that pier. Florida law says boats including personal watercraft need to be at least 300 feet away from structures designated for fishing.Swimming is another matter. It's up to the local municipalities to enforce the distance, usually the lifeguards.

Being new to the area and a freshwater fisherman, I normally use bait casting reels and occasional closed face spin cast reels. I see most people use open face spinning reels here. Are they better for saltwater fishing? What rod/reel and line would you recommend for someone wanting to start saltwater fishing? Lastly, how do you rig for both live and lures?

I tried to explain to my sister, who has told me she is a fisherman, that the reason you need so many rigs is because the wide variety of fish that you may possibly be fishing for. You also need something for bait. I have found that you can clean the live bait fish, put them on a stick, tempura, and deep fry. Eat bones and all, and they are quite tasty, depending upon the variety of bait fish that you were using.

Swimming, paddle boarding, and surfing near the FISHING pier looking to get treble hooks in your body is like playing basketball in the middle of a busy interstate. Dumb on steroids! They walk among us…🤓 This day would have been great to drop your cam beneath the waves! Please, next time!
