The wind knots come from two factors: 1- line twist. 2- line memory. Line twist comes from spooling the line incorrectly from the package to the reel or the lure is spinning around. Use a swivel to prevent the lure from twisting the line. To prevent line twist from the spool use a line spooler device (piscifun makes one) or usually its label on top when spooling. The line memory comes from the line being on a large spool and you put it on a small spool but the line wants to be on the large spool. You correct this by spoiling the reel then soaking the line in hot tap water for about 30 minutes.

They all work really well in small creeks,you can even fish the jig head with the grub under a float & experiment with the depth fish are holding & speed. Also the fire tiger inline spinner/rooster tail bait 1/16 ounce works great for multi species including bluegill,crappie & I've even caught bass & channel catfish off of them. As far as micro rod & reels I usually go 4 pound test or 6 pound test,whichever seems to cast better,hope this helps & hope you catch a mondo.

Creek fishing is so much fun!! The creeks in Northern California are gorgeous and produce some amazing native trout! Panther Martins are my favorite to use. Low resistance for maximum activity, you can get the slightest current to do the work!

Rooster tail is very dependable no matter where u are. they create a very distinct vibration frequency that attracts fish in the same way that a bumblebees wings vibrate on top of the water. Which is why bumblebees are fantastic bass baits.

You might get these knots on spinning reels because the line has memory of the spool it came off of, and/or you have to reel the line on in the same direction it spools off. Hopefully this helps out my Favorite KZbinr!! You're super awesome Lojo, keep up all the good work man!!

Berkley Trilene XT Extra Tough 6lbs-4lbs test is the best “light” line. Caught big bass, turtles, and sticks without breaking off (surprisingly)! Also, use swivels for inline spinners so that it doesn’t twist your line and cause that backlash.

Trilene XT is my favorite line, I love the solar color. I use 12lb on my baitcast combos, 7ft med fast action. Casts like a dream, backlashes never go super deep. Fine the lb test and color you like and stick with it!

Swivels are great, but that backlash was caused by the way he spooled the line on his reel. If you let the line come off in coils like he did it will do that. You have to roll it off the spool... many line boxes have holes to put the line through so it will roll off the spool

When using inline spinners on spinning gear use a small black swivel, it keeps your line from twisting and creating wind knots. All I use is spinning tackle literally I've never ever used a bait caster. Yet I do everything you do with spinning tackle, I used to get wind knots every third cast when using Mepps, rooster tail, panther Martin, until I attached them to a swivel. It really does help. I use black because it doesn't scare the fish.

Just so you know... Hooking and playing gar is a boatload of fun... Fun to get them to bite but they get off often... Their mouth is all bone. You can play them for a long time then get off. Nice work man...Really enjoy your vids .

Tangled line is very common on spinning gear . One thing you can do is hang the hook on something outside then back up while letting all your line out , once you’re close to the end stretch the line pretty tight for a couple of minutes and that does help but after being on the reel for a while the twist will stop.

Ultralight spinning gear is a fun way to fish! I use 4-6 lb mono usually. Trout, panfish and pickerel for days!

For the beetle spin take off the grub that comes with and put a small curly tail worm on. That's what I do at the river in my town. You can catch different kinds of fish that way

I recommend that when you use any kind of rooster tail lure to use a snap swivel because those kinds of lures can tangle your line very easily.

You can always tell when someone grew up with.try to put it on a spinning reel , you need to put it on in the same direction it’s spooled on the plastic spool . this little creek we had branching off from our local pond would go on for miles and i remember walking it with a little black fury lure

To avoid the "wind knots" put a screwdriver through the middle of the spool so that it spins when you put line on the reel, it keeps the line from twisting

For creek fishing I go with a mepps baits series either the bluegill color or crawdad color depending on what color the water is

The reason you’re getting tangled man, is because you’re not spooling your real up correctly. Loading off of the top of a spool just twists the line up, especially lighter lines! Ideally, you need to put a pen or screwdriver through the bulk spool, and load your reel that way. Hope this helps man (and makes sense...), and keep the content coming. I’m a relatively new sub, and I’m loving it. Congrats also on becoming a Googan! 🤩👌🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥

My ultra light set up has a 1000 size reel loaded with 5.6lb braid and a 3 foot 2.9lb fluorocabon leader with a 6.6 foot 0.5-5 gram rod. Lovely little set up, you can feel everything and so fun to fish with Fishing in the UK

I knew the gar was going to come off!! Replace the treble hook with a single hook for better leverage! Use a net to land fish rather than fighting them! Use monofilament backing with a fluorocarbon leader so your line has some stretch when then jump! Ditch the fast action ultralight and buy one with a medium/slow action to absorb shock!!

The rooster tail is what I always start with creek fishing. I'm exploring a portion of a creek, I haven't fished before tomorrow and I will have the rooster tail rigged first. I always have rooster tail, trout magnet, a micro crank bait, and a 2-3 soft swimbait with me for small creeks.Also that was my ultralite rod for the 2019 season. Caught a lot of trout, bluegills, and smallies on it. But the reel is the weakest part of the combo. The bailer wouldn't close all the way after about 3 months of using it and i would lose a lot of hook sets because of it.

Beatle spin first, then move to a rebel noisy cricket that’s what I use when fishing a new small body of water. When it comes to Gar live bait works the best the smaller the hook, the better due to their mouths being very narrow. A hook for a bluegill will work. When you find the Gar: cast your live bait, grab a drink, wait.
