Foul language and emotional outbursts validate the human side. I like it. Competition raises the natural level of things. Breaking rods, having a physical fit or being abusive to others should carry a penalty. Professionals should keep the young fans in mind.

@GetUrFishOn I don't think they should block it. Especially a league where its entire existence has been like a scam. Hiding the real frustrations of what a bass fisherman goes through is part of the sport. The pros already feel disingenuous when they take the podium. Almost like the democratic party speeches. Rinse repeat.

Glad to see someone addressing this! My opinion is it’s too for over the line. I’ve followed him for several years, stood by him a few years back when he was DQ’d. I don’t mind seeing frustration during a highly competitive event. He had a mental breakdown and got me wondering if something else was driving his out of control behavior. Addressing Thrift like that and throwing equipment and broke rods at the weigh masters feet. I personally think he should’ve been disqualified to learn a lesson or get help. 🤯

I like the honesty as well! I’m of the opinion that the camera operator should do some editing in a lot of situations, if it’s live, stop filming. Let anglers vent in private, don’t publish it just because it gets views. I think a lot of people were used to Ray Scott’s ideals of the “Professional Bass Fisherman” but control of what made it to the public back then was much easier. I totally understand losing it in tournament situations. Just give the anglers some room!!

The worst display I’ve seen was Iconelli at one of the Bassmasters Classic where he lost it and kicked the graph off the console and broke the stern light, with the American flag attached to it, and threw it in the water. That was a disgusting display!

personal accountability is important! Bottom line is if you’re prone to over the top freak outs then you are accountable that fans and sponsors may not being on board with it! Lord knows I can get rather over the top on a bad day. To me going IKE is fabricated, but we are all human and have bad days. Relatability of an angler having raw emotion on a bad day is rather refreshing!

With everything being live I don't think it's practical to think you won't see this type of stuff. I do agree that some of the over exaggeration of emotions is annoying and fake but it is what some people will do to get noticed or try to get more air time. I know there are times they are expected to spice it up, even told to do so. I don't agree with that type of stuff, but the raw emotion, yeah that is good stuff and I think it shows that these guys are human and have bad days. I don’t really care about people swearing or getting mad when things go bad, but there is a line where things turn into poor sportsmanship. IMO when you get to the point of breaking your equipment and throwing it into the lake THAT IS POOR SPORTSMANSHIP! I do appreciate that these guys aren’t being paid, and they are paying to be there. But BASS and MLF are funding stages for these anglers to promote themselves and they absolutely have a say in how things are presented, especially on live broadcasts. And isn’t Sprague a known cheater!?!? Why’s he even fishing professionally? I don’t know he has any sponsors for that let alone this poor sportsmanship…

I think when it comes to swearing, a word here and there doesn’t really matter to me. Constantly speaking that way in public or on camera is probably not good. I started watching bass fishing on TV around 6 or 7 years old and I’m sure there are still a lot of kids watching. As far as anglers being loud, aggressive and emotionally charged or acting dumb on camera? I personally don’t follow those anglers. Doesn’t matter to me if they are on camera, some people like that so I’ll leave those anglers for the people that like it. I’m a live and let live kinda guy. To each his own, I just choose to follow anglers that are in control of their emotions. The fighting, arguing or freaking out breaking stuff definitely makes me turn away. Unfortunately the tournament organizations love it because drama makes people watch their program. When drama shows up, I go elsewhere. I’m that way with everything in my life.

A lot of people get their feelings bruised over his classic blow up with dead fish in the live well from several years ago. He broke the running light pole off that happen to have an American flag on it and vented a few choice words. Well that flag pole could of had a picture of his mom, dad, wife kids, Jesus or anything and its still getting broke. It was simply an inanimate object he took his frustration out on but the PC people see it as an attack on the American flag. Although he was in a classic supplied boat buy Trition his current sponsor of Ranger got their feelings hurt so bad they dropped him. This was the start of a long successful relationship with Bass Cat. Ike does go over the top sometimes for me but I had rather him be natural than fake it. I have a lot more respect for being ones self verses being a fake even if I may not fully like your natural self. There's one particular closet smoking, drinking, cussing Elite angler that crosses the stage praising god and squeaky clean but I know he is a fake. I had rather see someone be natural even if its something I may not be a fan of.

Unfortunately I can relate, the mouth gets foul sometimes. However, that was not just some cursing fit that's random. That's happened before but wasn't seen . I don't think a penalty is necessary, but making him get some help should be. Again, been around this sorta thing in my life a bit with family, and struggle with some mental health stuff at times . The man is having some internal problems...I'm not a mental health professional... but that display was obviously not the first rage out , and this is actually bad for Him if left unchecked and not addressed .. and not just for his public image in bass fishing alone. Being passionate about something like fishing, golf is fine. When you are on camera though, keep it in check at least a little bit. Don't be a poor sport, but by the same token, we also want to see some emotion. Don't be a robot, but especially on camera, keep it in check. Stepping on a rod, or throwing a putter in the lake is fine even though it wasn't the rod or putters' fault. Get over it, and move on. Thanks Steve.

If its just a guy then it is what it is. Who are they being emotional towards - another person? If its a tourny angler, they have sponsors and their reputation with them to maintain. Ike's sponsors know what they are getting. But so do say Ott's who is very religious and is the polar opposite. For me it would purge pent up bad day emotions if I'm not cussing AT someone.
