Love this method, just started using it this year. The sequence is a great idea for soft beads. I can’t believe I used rubber bobber stops/rubber pegs/etc. before and adjusted the bead after almost every cast. With this method in the video you get more fishing time!

T stops suck. For soft beads I now use 20lb mono uni knot. Works great. I use 8-12 lb leader but for the bead stop uni knot you need stiff line so 20lb works. Just tie a loop of 20lb test over your leader a couple inches above your hook. Trim the lower tag short but leave about 1/4" of tag on the top of the knot. The tag keep the bead from sliding down over the knot cause the tag and your leader create a V shape your bead sits in. Up side to this is if you need to you can force your bead down over the knot and off your hook if you want to change. Just slide a new bead, different color or size back over your hook and over the knot and your good to go without re-tying anything or needing to cut your leader off.
@FishingTheOdds2 жыл бұрын
its funny you do that! i did exactly the same thing before using the method in this video. it works well!
@deanazarnush8842 жыл бұрын
ive tried this, i used 6lb leader and if i tighten the bobber stop knot too much it damaged my leader, if i dont, it slides down after a while. i even tried a dab of uv resin on the bobber stop knot but still no good. i now am experimenting with a simple figure 8 knot to act as the stopper. and using with and without t stops, adding a dab of uv resin to the figure 8 knot to make it larger but still clear, so far im breaking off at my swivel. i would break off on the death roe micro beads before even though i tie the same knot every time it breaks sometimes. so im on the quest for the best rigging technique for soft beads and id suggest trying the figure 8 knot method, with a t stop you almost need all your force by hand to slide it over
@robertmcgaughey17342 жыл бұрын
That is genius !!! I got so frustrated with the T stops … I tried supergluing them bead to the T stop and it would still blow out … this year I was trying banding the beads but now I’m going with your set up truly genius bro!! Have you ever tried banding ??
@FishingTheOdds2 жыл бұрын
Banding? what do you mean? believe me man this setup is killer and the knot does not weaken your line . i just recently fought 4 steelhead on the same bead and same leader!
@robertmcgaughey17342 жыл бұрын
A bead company called creek candy makes a banding tool and it is a a needle with a tiny little hook at the end and you attach your bead to the line with a rubber band … the line is never actually threaded through the bead … and when you want to switch out your bead you just cut the rubber band and band another bead … it works really well too unless you lose the tool

Hey man, great video and a super technique for soft eggs! What size beads and sequins do you use for this setup? It seems like the sizes would be pretty important so you don't have the bead slip thru the sequin and then the egg. Thanx for taking the time to do this!
@FishingTheOdds10 ай бұрын
idk the size exactly but they are the same size as the ones elevated tackle sells on their website. they sell a red small glass bead. you can also use my discount code "FISHINGTHEODDS" at checkout on their website for 15% off. not trying to sell shit to ya i just know there small glass beads are the same size and used for the same thing. sequens are about the diameter of an 8 mm bead.

Cool, I have a serious question. How is the knot strength at the small bead? When you are down to 10 lb or 12 lb leader knot strength matters. The egg loop is a very strong and reliable knot, does the bead knot weaken your leader? If so buy how much? Thanks. :)
@FishingTheOdds Жыл бұрын
I was nervous about that as well honestly, however if you go back and watch some of my videos i have caught some BIG steelhead with this knot. also Pull on the leader super hard and you wont break it. after fishing this way a couple of years i stand by it and never get nervous about the knot. i do however get nervous about the fish coming off cause bead fishing has such a small hook haha. this is why i run size 2s for everything as oppose to size 4 hooks
@allancrow134 Жыл бұрын
@@FishingTheOdds Know what you mean about hook size, I run size 1 to 2/0, size 2 is two small for me, mind you my local river(on Vancouver Island) is a pretty decent size with lots of colour so often a bigger presentation is better. I don't really get a chance to fish any clear or low water so I'm not having to dial it down much. Cheers. :)

nice, i tried this but it still slides over the glass micro bead, perhaps its because i went through the soft bead with the hook and slid it over the bead, and somehow it breaks at the micro bead i do the same knot every time. so i now do a figure 8 to act as a stopper, and a dab of uv resin, then either t stop or no t stop. i find the the figure 8 works and my line breaks at my other knots and not the figure 8 knot
@FishingTheOdds Жыл бұрын
