Just started fishing again since my childhood and I'd like to know how to determine where and how to find the surest perch spots. Haven't caught single one this season which makes me a bit sad since perch is supposed to be the most common species around where I live. Any tips on that? And other species as well for that matter. Boat would probably be great to reach more spots, sadly I don't have one, at least yet. Also, great video! Thanks for taking the time to make this!

Hi guys, please help me. I tried drop shotting and like you say, it was incredible for Perch! My problem is that I get a lot of deep/gut hooked results. Can I still use a disgorger to unhook in this instance or will the softbait get in the way? Also, to clarify, it's cast and retrieve like a spinner but slow? A little retrieve to remove slack, a little wiggle, a little retrieve, a little wiggle? I'm not sure if I'm just lucky or if I have good technique... Thanks!

I am very curious to know if that is a different sub species of yellow perch that is found in North America. The world record Yellow Perch is 4LB 12ozs caught in 1924 in New York. I personally have caught 2 lbers here in Michigan but they are rare. A 13"-16" 1.5-2.5 lb is considered a big perch. There are a few western lakes like Devil's lake N.D that produce 3-3.5 lbers regularly. That lake has a huge forage base of fresh water shrimp and minnows as well. I have seen videos of 7 lb perch caught overseas. I would appreciate if you could give any info on this matter.
@noblestsavage17422 жыл бұрын
These are the same family as your yellow perch but a different species. The family has just the two species; the yellow perch (perca flavescans) in North America and the Eurasian perch (perch fluviatilis). Our perch go up to around 7 or 8lb max whereas yellow perch go to about 4lb. 👍

My problem with perch is that many times they get deep hook the lure . Any tips to combat this?
@9oozFgl84 жыл бұрын
I feel like a lot of it is timing. Striking quicker and harder as soon as you feel a bite can help prevent the fish swallowing the lure? I'm not quite a beginner but not as experienced as these lads but I've caught enough Perch to know they're buggers for swallowing tackle. Hope this helps somewhat :)
