Nice fish Kitty ! That's how memories are made! They kinda stick with you for Life . Well Done . When I get a hit , I go to the reel , it just saves the hassles of mending and stepping on the line in the boat , perhaps losing that big one ! Buy Hey you do it how you like and R used to doing it. main thing is to have FUN.. Enjoy All Thanks for Sharing!
@FishingwithRod2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Murray. You're right, line management would be the easiest if it is kept on the reel. The reason we strip in first instead of playing it on the reel is that we do get into a lot of smaller fish at these lakes. It'd be a lot more efficient to just strip. This was the first fish of the day, so you can imagine how surprised she was lol.

Enjoy your many videos Rod and Kitty. I want to get a Jon boat like you have because it's wide and stable with the flat bottom. What is the length and brand of yours Rod?
@FishingwithRod5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Frazer, it is a G3 1442 jon boat. 14 ft long, 42 inches across at the widest part. This is the boat I totally recommend people to get as two people can fish very comfortably in it, and can fish up to three people without problems. There is a separate video on my boat setup in the channel. :)

I just starting watching your videos and enjoyed all the trout fishing ones. I am impressed with the fish that you catch in this video. But I have to say you should give it up as to the name of the lake you were fishing? I hope you will consider this. I would love to see my son catch one of this monsters. Thank you and keep up the good work with the videos.
@FishingwithRod6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Gerry. The main reason that we don't publicly name these lakes is that it is our responsibility not to do so. These videos are watched by tens of thousands of people. By drawing attention to one specific lake, it would create enormous amount of traffic to it and it does not have the facility to handle it. That would ultimately ruin the lake. Most of these lakes along the Fishing Highway 24 produce fish like these in the video. Timing of the year and what they are feeding on are more important than the location itself.

Ok, I understand your reason for this. Thank you for replying.

Loved the video Rod and Kitty. Just one question. Why are you always eating steaks and not some of those fish you catch? Much better for you! Anyway, keep putting out the good content!
@FishingwithRod6 жыл бұрын
Because we love eating steaks! :D It's the first choice whenever we are heading to a cabin which has a BBQ. :) We do eat fish, but usually saltwater species like salmon, lingcod and halibut. I know, a little spoiled... ;) Thanks for watching!

Two of the most unfriendly ppl I have run into at a lake! Seen a few videos in the past thinking they were nice friendly ppl.. wrong! The way they drove the boat into the Lilly pads and tall grasses around the shore line pissed us off! Show some respect and preserve the beautiful natural habitats. Also I’m the gentleman that she referred to when she catches her big fish. I told them what depth to be in and what fly to use only if they wouldn’t say the name of the lake.

That's how Kitty reacts when she catches a big fish. It's natural, being herself without worrying about what others think, and why I enjoy fishing with her and letting her to be in these videos. :)
@bikedeefer6 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I find her extremely obnoxious. I liked your content much better back in the day when it was just you, or you and your Wife and a little one. I tried to give this video a go as my folks live up that way and wanted to see what lakes you guys hit up. Alas my un-subscription from your channel was the right decision.
@FishingwithRod6 жыл бұрын
CSL And that’s ok too. I’ve never expected what we produce is for everyone. In fact, it is meant for a pretty specific target audience.
@bikedeefer6 жыл бұрын
Sadly "target audience" is the problem I have with your content these days. Now its all about making money, "shill videos" and that can't be denied, your "Fishing Essentials" videos for instance . Add a decent looking girl, and change the content to appeal to people who want to watch a "show" instead of its original premise of raw teaching and learning along with you. I get it that things evolve but I watched you originally to learn and really enjoyed watching. What did I learn in this video. . . Sadly, nothing. I prefer a channel like Getting Spooled, or BC Fishing Addicts, as the content is more raw, but well put together, and has the day to day fishing struggles most people can relate to. At the end of the day please don't take this as a slam but constructive criticism.
@FishingwithRod6 жыл бұрын
CSL Well it is my full time job lol.... you don’t totally have the goals which I hope to achieve with these videos but that’s ok, I’ll respectfully disagree.
