‘You can’t have a portrait like that and then bring out a birthday cake that looks like a big whoopie pie!’ - followed by monumental side-eyeroll. I had no idea what a whoopie pie was, but the delivery had me guffawing. The zingers were definitely coming at us fast in this review. Thank you, once more, for taking one for the team by enduring a badly made bad movie. Also, that focalisation problem mars so many films: ‘who is having these flashbacks’ echoes a question I often have-‘Whose point of view am I meant to inhabit here? Which character is seeing this from this angle?’ 🤣

there are several things in this movie that do not make sense. -the wife tells her father he's the real monster... what does that mean? We see no evidence of her dad being anything but kind. That whole thing is never followed up on. -you pointed out the bloody blanket... where did the blood come from? -what's the deal with the pig? they were setting that up to make us think that was his food, but if he's not a werewolf, that doesn't make sense.

I feel like the dog and pig go hand in hand. If the father was abusive it wouldn't be a stretch to think he killed the puppy or enjoyed torturing/killing the pigs. It does happen when there is a violent father in the home.

@@kmw992617but why does he have to be chained up to beat up a pig? Also how can a small child with breathing issues walk miles into the woods at night without bringing her air tank? Just to see her dad fight a pig? Why hint a silver bullets if the dads not a werewolf? If she assumes he has a gun because he intends to kill her abusive husband then why do the bullets matter at all? Why not just be upset that he has a gun? And what did the mom want to tell her daughter? They were arguing about it being time to tell her… tell her what? You fight pigs at night because you mad? I’m sorry, this movie just annoyed me so much man

Exactly, such a copout, if I wanted to watch that subject, I would've picked something like that. Just horrible and the pacing is too slow for North American audiences, besides them making awful, frustrating choices.

So sick of the "We're subverting expectations" and "Let's use it lycanthropy as a metaphor, but not actually have the werewolf be real." I like films that can use it as a metaphor but actually have the person really transforming. I enjoy films like Good Manners, Bloodthirsty, When Animals Dream, Wildling, and Ginger Snaps. Heck even Bad Moon used lycanthropy as a metaphor for addiction/abuse but still managed to give us a great werewolf (cheesy transformation).

I was so sad, I love a good werewolf movie like the Howling. A mental condition that has been around is that ppl think they are a werewolf, they don't physically change, but they become wild and wolfish, so thats my thought on the whole chaining etc. As a die Hard Kit fan from GOT and Pompaii. he is so ripped in this movie I'd rate it 5 stars just for that.

I was so confused about the movie I couldn’t even finish it they were literally draggingggg it omg when the mother ran out to get the oxygen tank and had a scream match I was done I was like let me go see if I can find a review to figure out wtf it going on ….I’m so glad yall could break it down for me; it was very funny and informative didn’t even wanna finish the movie what a waste 😂

The movie was good to me. It helped me understand how mom and kids feel living with an abusive dad. I'm glad the mom and daughter got away, and it didn't end badly. If ya didn't get it, that's a You issue. 🤣

Listen, as a werewolf fan I’ve seen them all. The good and the bad. This film was horrible on so many levels, it was waaaayyy to slow and broke any expectations of being a good film when the daughter caught the mom chaining up her dad. Apparently a small child with breathing issues can walk over a mile into the woods to find her parents that drove off ahead of her. While hailing her air tank as well… to arrive at the exact moment her mom is putting the collar around her dad’s neck -_- . I said yeah… there’s no way, also how can you explain this scene if the dad wasn’t a werewolf… does he go out into the woods to fight a pig while being chained up at night because he’s so angry? What did the parents have to tell her that they wanted to keep a secret? A fake story about a werewolf that didn’t exist? Or how the dudes in her family tend to kill themselves or their wives because… family trauma or something. Also, what age were you when you realized how to make a flame thrower ?

I just watched it and they had everything they needed to make a good film it was shot well the location was awesome but the script was boring. It should have been a straight up blood and guts werewolf movie. Also the werewolf didn't look good luckily they didn't show it until the end.

You know what really sucked about it? There was some great acting in it but the storyline was horrible! That little girl did some great acting. Everyone did. If it weren't for the great acting I would have just cut it off and never finished watching it. The acting was phenomenal but the storyline was anything but that.

He was thinking that she is cheating on him with some other guy. Later in that scene you can see the actress saying that she is not seeing someone it was just a day out with the daughter that's why she wore the dress.
