This is probably your most viewed Fisker video. It tells how much value this particular video has. It is such a complicated process just to get to a fuse and you make the very painful process fun to watch and follow. The moment we discovered the efforts just to open the frunk, we could tell this is one of the most complicated vehicles to work on. Looks beautiful on the exterior but whoever designed the internal components sucks!

My Fisker Ocean Extreme is supposed to be delivered in a few weeks so I decided to attend a Fisker Ocean owner’s meet-up in Southern California over the weekend. There were maybe 20-25 current owners who attended and almost all of them had minor issues but still loved their Oceans. Like any new car company (including Tesla) there are going to be kinks to work out at the beginning but the Fisker should be fine moving forward.

After about 5 months with it, my parents are considering getting the purchase annulled. Each time you drive it it's a dice roll what systems will be down, the radar system, the regen braking, blind spot system, parking sensors either not active, or permanently thinking somethings close so it beeps every time you go slow, backup camera not working, keyless not reading etc. Probably don't help that Fisker has no good answers on just about anything, emergency kit that was ordered is still not delivered, and the winter tires were so slow to be delivered that the car had to be parked for 2 weeks, because it was.. well, winter. Oh and the heating is at best wildly misscalibrated. Drove it to and from the mountains over christmas and had the heat turned up to 30c and it was maybe 15c in the car. But it drives nice.

Wow, sounds like your parents are having serious issues. I’ve had my Fisker Ocean for about three weeks now and I haven’t had any problems. @@peterchang3513 yep, in Norway. It is less fuzzy when it's warm out, and car is not full of salt and road grime, but that is a 30min drive before it's dirty again. This is a Ocean One, might be more buggy than an extreme, but in theory they should be the same. Bit of a shame that jumping into my 2011 vw feels almost like a relief because it just works. Nothing special, new or fancy, just everything where you expect it doing what it's supposed to.

This is really smart, but honestly we shouldn't have to do this keep the car running. Also, when I first saw a video of someone demonstrating how to open the hood, I commented that it was potentially an unnecessary obstruction to doing basic maintenance to the car. This is a case in point.

I installed such wire connection to my 12V battery in my Tesla Model 3, so I can leave a phone or a laptop in the frunk to be charged, because the 12V auxiliary plug inside the car is de-energised when the car is sleeping. Or also I could connect an accessory, such as a tyre air pump. Note: But recently, the ODBC2 plug is providing a constant 12V even when the car is sleeping, so I don't need to access the battery any more.

I have seen where 2 Ocean owners have had coolant pumps fail and their Oceans go into limp mode. Maybe a video on the coolant pump location. Hi, Matt - update: took my FOO in for service at the Fisker Service facility in Huntington Beach to address a number of open items, one of which being unable to get the car to do a “deep sleep” reset (charge point light kept blinking blue for over 30 minutes, after doing the protocol steps). Their tech told me that the battery charger lead I had installed (to use the trickle charger on the 12volt battery) was bypassing the 12v battery sensor, preventing it from going into deep sleep. They removed the lead, charged the 12 volt battery to full, re-calibrated the windows, and took care of the other service items. Don’t know if it made a difference, but I had connected to the positive terminal on the opposite end of the cover from what you showed in the video. Just an FYI..

You should first have use a 12V battery monitor with a bluetooth connection to check using a smartphone App the charging status of the 12V battery. This would help you to determine how often and for how long the DC/DC inverter is charging the 12V battery. Typically, for my Tesla Model 3, when not driving, the DC/DC inverter runs every 3 days for 2 hours, and the High voltage battery consumption is about 3% a month. So using a battery charger is basically useless is you can plug your EV. However, I use a battery charger for an ICE car and charge the 12V battery for one hour every night using a timer. I used a 12V battery monitor to determine how long and how often the battery charger was needed. The battery charger has a charging limiter but I noticed that the charger was running longer than necessary and was constantly charging to the max and stopping for a short time and charging again all the day long, and I don't think thois was good for the battery. My strong advice is to get a 12V battery monitor with a bluetooth connection.
@MTNRanger
@MTNRanger 8 ай бұрын
In part three I will cover the battery monitor. Yes, you are right about checking the voltage. I have received three low battery warnings in the past six days. So the HV battery is not correctly charging the 12V. It’s a known issue that Fisker is working on. I started tracking it tonight and will gather a few days of data for the next video.

Nice job. The other option would be to connect one end of a charger extension lead to the car 12v, leaving the other end accessable from outside, then connect another extension to the car, so you can keep the mains and charger in a garage and just run 12v charger extension to the car. I did this fir a 2020 MG ZS EV, where I could fish out the connector to the battery through the fake grill at the front.
@MTNRanger

Yes, you can connect an extension cord to the lead. I did leave the end of the cord by the wiper blade just outside the hood so you can attach an extension to it.

When the alarm goes off like that, it's an indicator of a 12V battery issue. By using a battery monitor, you can see how low the battery gets before the high voltage battery pack charges it up. There may be something going on where it's getting too low. Do you know if the negative terminal has been adjusted on your car? The best for Fisker is to sell this business to Magna or whoever wants to take it over. Regarding to the subject - discharged 12V battery. 1. I agree, that it they should have designed the hood to be more consumer/service friendly. However, after opening it twice now, I can do it under a couple minutes. Frunk storage seems to be highly dependent on the company's goals. A small frunk area would have been nice. I test drove the EV6 and the tiny storage spot just seems like a waste of time. I have removed the trunk tub in my Model 3 and it looks like they could have made it even larger, but they want to give clearance around the coolant system and other things just to be safe.

@MTNRanger at least my smart has straps to keep it from being dropped 😆. Really like these and reservation holder but I need the product to be worth it.

@@nosoupforyou425The hood is held in place with a latch on the driver's side support. In Fisker's defense, the hood area is not supposed to be accessed by the owner. Similar to Mercedes Benz and other car makers with locked hoods on their EVs.

I am not a handyman nor mechanic; not savvy w this sort of thing at all, but where did you get the little plastic pry bars ? My Fisker's battery seems to work fine but I just started driving it & so any standard tips or pre-maintenance advice is welcome

@@MTNRanger keep up the Fisker videos. I don’t know where I would be without them. Regardless of the FOO issues we have to date, you and Fiskerati Forums give me confidence that I can drive, but if something goes wrong, the community is standing by.
