I decided to stop competing in 1994 when I realized naturally was only going to get me but so far in the industry. I've never stop working out and training people but I definitely decided bodybuilding was not going to be my future. It's pretty much a simple decision if you want to compete you will take it, if not there's really no need to unless your a social media influencer and you use your body to sell your products. Doesn't matter if you're natural or not no one's going to believe it. I am 53 years old and people still accuse me of taking steroids. It was rough when I was younger having to deal with the accusations but as I got older I just take it as a compliment.

@@TerronBeckham exactly, you keep it 100 with the audience so when everything is said and done you can look back and say you never cheated your followers. Personally, my favorite part about your channel is your personality, I just love how fun and goofy you are. My problem is that I don't like the videos you make (typically), like the ones with "Bench Pressing X weight" or "Training with X person". It's nothing to do with you, my mind just naturally filters out those types of videos. That being said I usually tune into your vlog videos, or the videos you did with your girlfriend on that other channel. I think your main issue is a marketing one, it feels like you're trying to appeal to the general lifting community as opposed to building and growing a niche that come to you for content only you can provide them.

Tbh I watched you both but as I subscribed to more channels it made it harder to get past the algorithm. Gokuflex I noticed I watched more when he was doing Buu to Broli but I think since I slowed down watching because of the toys and unboxing anime stuff even though I watch anime. I think it messed up my algorithm. Yours… idk why? It could be all the fitness channels got pushed out because there were 2 other fitness channels I missed like 20 vids. Another genre of channels I missed several vids.

I prefer the overall athlete. Don't care one ish who's bigger or stronger. The overall athlete is more prepared for life's battles and there isn't a situation they can't get out of. These Larry wheels type of guys, say they got lost on a hiking trip and fell in a hole...can they climb out? No. Will they have the endurance to find they're way back... probably not. If there's a predator can they make it up a tree or boulder...no. Life even's out the playing field and I don't see the Larry wheels type of guys as on top the food chain. If we are forced to go to war the guys like you, overall well rounded I would bet my money on every time that they will survive. Simple!

disagree, jay cutler for example doesnt have a ton of views yet he's still massive, but then you have someone like maxx chewning, who has a solid following and is in decent shape but far from so many other channels. Then you got someone like Guzman, he has always been popular because he's such a nice guy, he had big dreams and made them come true but i truly believe it was how nice he is that got him his following. Larry was strength based he put up freaky lifts travelled to dubai, lived there got into armwrestling etc, its fun to see his vids. Russ swole is massive an absoloute tank of a man and natty, best powerlifter at his weight class yet although the views are decent theyre not always huge. So its content and how people click with you, trust me you do gear and get massive yeah the channel views might go up a bit but not what you think. I dont watch anyone based on them being shredded or big
@TerronBeckham
@TerronBeckham Жыл бұрын
So everyone you named owns companies now and honestly those companies help push them further for example Russ or Maxx people love their brands.. and people are interested in starting there own business and learn from them also.. also the amount of shares they get because of their brands is more than there actual own content because they have something from them they supported with to show a piece of them. So it’s kind of hard to use those specific names because these people have actually accomplished things at a very very high level of fitness or even outside of fitness that benefit them. Now for Christian out of all of the names you said he’s content and views and all is at the lowest despite him having the biggest brand out of all of them and yet a lot of people don’t even know Christian owns alphalete and alphaland haha… So again there are many outside factors that help them. But as for Larry yes out of everyone he does have very good high quality content and does alot with people but iMean it’s Larry haha bro risked it all and came out big so he can kinda do whatever he wants with whoever.
@boneTHUGS111
@boneTHUGS111 Жыл бұрын
@@TerronBeckham yeah but to get those brands going they had to be succesfull on here first, the sponsors they got from the youtube success and the youtube money was what got the ball rolling. Guzman probably isnt as popular as he once was because he's been on and off youtube , its like ogus making content now, he's not going to do the same numbers as the newer generation doesnt know him like the ones from 10 yrs ago. But Guzman is at his biggest muscle wise, he's been on gear since last yrs summer shredding to from what we hear, yet like you say his numbers are down.

Hey Terron. I hope you read this , been watching you for years. Love your channel , and appreciate that you put this perspective out there, but for a while you have been falling off , and I think its important you don't just have fans gassing you without giving you the necessary criticism to grow. 1. The fans aren't 'losing trust' in you , your videos have just gotten bad in quality. that is probably what is reducing retention and people from clicking on your new uploads. When you make good videos , people expect the next ones to be good as well and so on..(like jesse james west for example). 2. Your thumbnails have gotten terrible. How do you expect to attract new people or even subs to click who arent your core fanbase if your thumbnails and titles aren't attractive enough to be clicked on? You have to balance exciting titles thumbnails and also ones that hold secrecy and make you want to click on the video to find out more. 3. Your topics have been weak , and it seems as if you are kind of just cruising along. In the advice of HillierSmith (i recommend you check out his tips on mistakes that make your videos bad) take/steal content ideas from what is popular. straight up. when you put your twist to it , it becomes your own. You should be on top of shit that can easily be consumed. For example that submarine news that was all over the place, you should have been on TOP of that shi with a reaction , you FUNNY asl what are you doing? Don't put yourself in a box , that will kill you. 4. You have a bad habit in longer edits of not killing your creation (another thing mentioned by hillier) , which is when you put too much of what you record in your videos. You need to chop down a lot of these videos and make the pace better, cut out all the garbage that isnt exciting. when you don't it bogs down the video and makes people want to click off and watch something else, and youtube notices this and punishes you for it, making your video less noticeable and less promoted. A prime example of a perfectly paced and chopped video you made that told a story was "upsetting 800lb deadlift attempt' at zoo culture. Perfect cuts , straight to the point , zooms on your expression , zooms on everyone uplifting you to lift the weight , and you eventually failing and it zooming into your pain , and then a perfect transition into your "everything doesnt go as it seems' intro , but as an outro. Perfect story telling that held retention and good views. Ultimately you make your own grave, if you get lazy or stop daring to be great the audience can see it. You have to understand your strengths and accept your weaknesses to get better. God knew you before you were born. You have many talents and you need to play by them and expand , not be a one trick pony. That is why Larry Wheels , Bradley Martyn etc get to where they are , not because they are the best , but because they show you who they are and create a name for themselves regardless in a way that shows their strengths and weaknesses in a consumable way which make them idolized, and consistently , which is something you do lack , consistency. They also hop on popular trends, collaborate with well known or interesting people a lot more , and have the best of the best editing behind them. You need to unbox yourself and experiment , and be free. Shit even a video thats just comedy like 'ketchup packets under the toilet seat' prank in the gym would be hilarious as a series , or doing crazy lifts in commercial gyms and getting reactions , working out in a green man body suit , just shit thats different would be crazy. "curling random women' , or even telling bad relationship stories. You have the capacity to be even greater and deserve a lot more of a following and success, but ultimately you handicap yourself and you're the cause of your own monetary losses, because you gotta do for you as well , and people understand that , as long as you are giving them good enough content as an exchange. I wrote a lot but hopefully you can learn something from it. Just want you to do well my nigga.

I appreciate you so much for taking the time out to break this all down. I agree with a few things for sure like thumbnails titles can be better but that’s subjective because there are plenty of people with super trash thumbnails but yet they get 50k + views it’s literally KZbin not pushing out my content anymore and my viewers outgrowing my content which is messing up my page. My KZbin is 8 years old I went threw massive growth fast and in the end that hurt me because those people are interested in the old me with football and hoping I still play and also the people who are here for my strength stuff but my strength just now has grown but they haven’t seen much development these past few years and got tired of me getting nowhere. I don’t think my video quality at all is bad in fact I Believe I have the top cinematic high 4k quality content but in actuality no one cares because those 1080 kinda low quality videos have done alot better for others for example Leah beef patty simple cuts with some funny edit here and there.. the problem is I’m not reaching the pipeline that appreciate the high quality cinematically stuff that I like vs the more childish entertainment type videos like Jesse has ..Larry probably has the best but they are still simple raw cut videos with no extra edits or anything so at the end of the day it comes to how much the viewers really like the creator and sadly my time had died over time.

@@TerronBeckham Hey I can definitely see your points , and you do have some ground with certain things being subjectivity but hear me out. Ultimately I think you are in a bit of a defensive state which I can understand , but as you stated yourself , one thing that bothers you is people being overly positive , just glazing you instead of being critical when you need it , and an important part of that is the other side of the coin. You have to have a receptive nature of you where you can sit back and analyze that criticism , and crucially. You may come off to people as intimidating or the type that can't handle criticism , but I see you as a grounded , pure natured man that can handle it , you just seem to have been emotionally tramautized by the nfl journey , which is ok to admit. It happens in life. But you can't just blame the algorithm. 1. You stated KZbin is not pushing your videos out anymore. This is true and also not true. Just a month ago you had a 50k view video 'taking her through the pump'. 3 months ago you had the 100k video with your girl. These views simply wouldn't have happened if your channel is shadow banned. The true part is that if your videos don't perform well consecutively , KZbin will kick in and not give you as long of a run on the home screen or other areas. But you can personally check your analytics and see how many impressions youtube gave you. KZbin did this specifically because creators were complaining about shadowbans and it simply was that people weren't clicking on the video or not watching it all the way through. Check your impressions , check your click through rate and see how many people are clicking when youtube promotes your video. then see how long people stay and watch your video. IF you have literally no impressions other youtubers have stated if you contact youtube help and ask if you are shadowbanned , they will fix it , but I doubt that is the case. 2. You stated you have an 8yr old channel and grew too fast. This is entirely not true. The truth is that you didn't adapt fast enough. But you still ultimately have that chance. 2 MAJOR examples. The hodgetwins , and the channel "whatever". They are both still thriving , both have been around since OG YT , both adapted and did something else , Hodgetwins created 4 different channels all with over 1M views, and they made a conservative channel to mix it up. Whatever started as a PRANK channel in 2005 and they literally turned in a relationship and drama podcast now. You have to adapt and you can't give up. You have to be brutally honest with yourself. 3. You didn't interpret what I said about Quality correctly or you skimmed it. I didn't say anything about literal video quality like 4k or 1080p , I meant the content of the videos which I explained. Me and a friend watched your recent Power athlete video for example. Bad lighting off the jump. lots of talking that makes an audience uninterested. lots of things that should have been chopped out and made into a more fluent and appealing video. and this is a 30MIN VIDEO. If people are getting bored and clicking off the video , your retention stats are going to be low , and yt just going to stop promoting that video as much period. Did your editor change from when you were in NY back then? (larry wheels collab era) While thumbnails and titles may be subjective , you can't look at larry or jesse's recent thumbnails and say there isnt a clear difference. But ultimately that is not the most important part, the topic is and what you do with it. Jesse James puts out netflix quality videos that just appeals in a mainstream way, with top of the line editing. Larry wheels editing isnt as good , but his topics and people he collabs with are interesting , paired with the thumbnails , that people are invested in wanting to learn about the person he's collabing with. And Lean beef you can't even put in the convo bruh , women have it way easier than men in anything being viral , she has an army from IG that worships her , its a different world respectfully. People will watch her videos literally just to see her body. But you've made it far you just gotta get out of this mental rut you're in a keep moving.

Why even explain yourself about being natural. Nobody will know anyway unless someone close to you expose you. I follow you because your channel is different than the other fitness channels.

I don’t explain myself about being natural anymore unless someone tries to call me out also it was for those coming into this industry thinking being natural is an advantage that I was touching on because I use to think that way but in all nobody cares likes that

I wouldn’t say the fitness industry is out of wack, Everything is unfortunately like that. How many music artist are trash but selling more than others with much better talent. Grind hard and make no excuses, if you ain’t got what you want, and you’ve tried everything to get it, then you haven’t tried it All.

I like this video. This whole fitness phere of KZbin is a weird cespool because what's "the hot topic" can vary from Drama to a new experimental supplement. Its a cold world out here. Take care bro! Keep making content to your hearts content.

Should make video of how is it like being and working out in alphaland, I feel like everyone is just forcing or making content just to blow, doesn’t help the fact tick tock,instagram are just filled and filled with people trying to be an influence and I see a lot of repeat Trends etc, and everyone just seems like they are an influencer especially with Alphaland, all I see there are peoples showing off and filming etc. doesn’t even feel like a gym it feels like social gatherings for clout.
