When you really care about the right size for your fitted caps, it's easy to notice when an aggressive haircut changes the fit. This is a simple suggestion for a temporary fix when your head size gets just a bit smaller.

This weather seal tip is gold. I've watched a ton of videos and asked a ton of people and everyone just used paper towels, paper folded up, spray bottle and hair dryer or hot water and oven. I wanted a way to temporarily make my hats smaller in case I grow my hair out again. Thanks!

Yep, I have to also credit a consistent viewer/commenter with that suggestion - although he goes for the foam weatherstrip while I prefer the old-school felt type shown here. Felt is easier to remove when you don't need it... and you are welcome!

Interesting idea. The felt could also be extra in soaking up sweat. No matter the season (and I live in Chicago) I absolutely will sweat from the top of my head.

I used to use the felt strip, Doug, then I got lazy and cheap; now I use a folded kitchen paper towel. Disposable, two cents, I always have them. Last many months, but I change them every couple weeks in summer. ☀️

This is why I mainly wear adjustable caps. The 39THIRTY is the only fitted cap I wear, because the stretch fit material makes it easier to stretch the cap out if it feels tight around my head due to my hair growing.

My hair makes me a solid 7 1/2 but with a buzz underneath my long hair, I’m in between 7 1/2 and 7 3/8 leaning towards a small ish 7 1/2 as in its just made a bit smaller

Haha. Between my small head and undercut its a pain to get the right fit even though i wear snapbacks. Its like im in between sizes. Also i try to put things in the sweat band and its still tricky

Can you test shrinking it in the oven and make a video if it works? I've seen that recommendation but I don't know.

There's a haircut problem with those too - if your hair is shorter, I find that the plastic feels terrible on the back of the head. So you can fix the size but not the comfort.

😄😄😄😄 Well you may know I’m a long time user of FROST KING weather seal Doug. It’s my technique de preference to tighten up the fit of my caps for my hairless dome. I’m normally 1/8 but I’ve discovered I can satisfactorily wear a 3/8 cap w/ a thick strip of 7/8-inch thickness weather seal. Not for everyone but It works for me. I will say it has saved me a lot of caps. I’ve got a drawer stuffed with FROST KING. 😄😄😄😄😄.Keep spreading the word.

What is the size increments by inches bc I seem to need to go up a size or two? Meaning by inches what are the hat different sizes? One inch or half inch? Not sure why these hat companies don’t got s m l xl sizing to make it easier.

Hair almost half way down my back at this point. My 7 1/4 hats leave a nice line on my forehead unless I bend the brim. I am not a sinner, so to 7 3/8 I go.

Hey i need help. First of all ive never had a fitted or literally never wore a hat in my life. Second, my face shape is oval and my face is pretty small overall. I think my hat size is 6 7/8 or 7 after measuring a couple of times. I have no clue what hat would fit my face and im scared to buy one because i have to do it blindly buying online. Idk if retros or low profiles would fit, i feel like normal 59/50 would look big ash on my head

My best recommendation is to get to a store - either a Lids or a sporting goods/fan shop that carries Fitted caps. You'll only know what looks good if you can try them on, especially if you can compare a standard with a low profile 59Fifty. IMO, Fitteds are now too expensive to take chances with online, unless you know exact size and style.

Snapbacks actually have a haircut problem too - but it's related to comfort instead of size. If you don't have a little more hair length in the back, you can feel that flat and sometimes sharp-edged plastic all day long.
