Thank you! Yes, the Byrd blade is just a bit thicker, I thin it down a bit to fit properly. No play at all in the tools.
@tikkidaddy
@tikkidaddy Жыл бұрын
Quick question, while these tools aren't pry bars or dedicated drivers, I can see a need to drive smaller screws perhaps even with the bottle opener socket bit trick where a commonly available screwdriver bit is used. I was wondering about stability of G10 as opposed to aluminum. Personally I would prefer a 300 series set of stainless liners in these knives as weight isn't much of a concern when carried on a belt sheath😂
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive Жыл бұрын
The G10 is actually very rigid. And the major advantage that it has over aluminum is that if you do bend it, it will return back to true. Whereas if you bend the original aluminum liners, they stay bent. I haven't seen stainless steel liners yet, but I have used titanium, brass, and copper for liners before.
@TheJesterOAO
@TheJesterOAO 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome work, altough I don't get these conversions. Won't those g10 liners wear to much or abrade the steel? I wouldn't like glass debris in friction points.

Thank you! I haven't had any trouble with the G10 liners so far. They are actually smooth like plexiglass and not abrasive at all.

Nice work! If there is a reason why the knife cant be in place of bottle / can opener layer (1st layer but on the other side)? It would allow one hand opening for right handed person. Also 2nd question - if there is a chance see you modifying some victorinox multitool like Spirit X? Acid wash, blade replacement for one hand opening etc.
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I can not move the knife layer to the right side because it's back tool is the corkscrew. The corkscrew protrudes into the cutout on the back scale. That is why the knife layer has to remain on the left side. I have not tried modifying a Spirit X yet. It might be possible to do.

Do you re-use the old rivets, are do you get new pins and new rivets?

Apparently I've become obsessed with the cyber tool m. Can an awl and the multi-tool can/bottle opener live on the original knife layer and can you drop the can opener bottle opener layer and put in a dragonfly blade? I also noticed that the multi-bit is centered on the Cyber tool lite. Can the pliers and the multi-bit change order to try to center the screwdriver better?
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive Жыл бұрын
The "multi-tool can/bottle opener" AKA combination tool can be placed on a Cybertool with the Dragonfly blade. Adding the awl might be difficult though if you were to remove the can and bottle openers layer. Yes, the tools could be rearranged to get the bit driver as close to the center as possible.

@@FittoSurvive I was hoping to not have to reprofile a dragonfly hence having it on its own layer. And I was under the impression that victorinox made an awl that flips out 180 at the end of the tool and not in the middle. I thought it replaced the pen knife

@@FittoSurvive I see, I just did an acursory search. The awl that I'm thinking of is on a smaller platform. Maybe I would go with the combo tool and an electrician or a pruner. Idk the awl has so many random uses.

Do you have any How I mades not featuring a blade reprofile. I have a Dragonfly 2 & a 91mm Victorinox Compact I'd love to undertake this project on, however I really don't want to lose the blade profile or finger choil of the Spydy. I know they can be put together without a profile with some down sides, but I don't know if the process is different?

@@FittoSurvive Ah, bugger, have had no luck finding one so far, I'm right in saying your 3-4 minute long videos are typically reviews/showcases & your 15-20 minute long videos are normally build logs? If I search your video log for "How I made" there are very few results unfortunately. Gotten as far as drilling out the brass rivets on my Compact & removing the blade from the dragonfly, trying to figure out the next step in placing & adapting the blade to fit into the victorinox spring seat & figuring out what sized round standoffs/bolts I need to put the victorinox back together.

@@FittoSurvive look forward to them, been wanting a one handed opening SAK since seeing a picture of one a few years ago, possibly one of yours, or SAKology’s. Love the concept as I love SAKs but the primary blades are generally pretty poor. I’ll keep your email in mind, it’s greatly appreciated, wasn’t wanting to push for info you didn’t have on your site as it’s your business making them, if you have any specs for the standoffs/reassembly bolts you use to replace the old brass rivets that’d be ideal. I’m also trying to figure out the positioning to sit the unprofiled blade in so that it folds in smoothly.
