Bishop Barron truly expresses his faith with such passion, beauty, pragmatic rationalism that is truly infectious. As a Word on Fire member, I thank God for gifting this marvelous evangelist with the ability to excavate through our spiritual barriers and plant the seed of the good, the true and the beautiful. It was through Bishop Barron that my journey from being a Protestant Chaplain and Pastor, to rediscovering my childhood Catholic faith was possible. It was through his unique mixture of intellectual gift, theological depth, rational thought, and heartfelt faith that my deep-seated knots with the Catholic faith were loosened, and my current path in the faith became a reality. Thank You Bishop and God Bless You...

Great insights on evangelization Bishop Barron. As a laity, I would add the sharing of personal conversion testimonies as another tool for evangelization. This Priest is a Dr of philosophy and probably the Pope's next pick for the Curia. Give him the respect he deserves by either Reverand, Fr, Bishop or His Eminence. That's the proper way to address him. He gave up his life for us. just a little respect for the priest, prophet, and almost a Saint. He should be USA's most influential man for everything he does. I am sorry if I am offending you. Bishop Barron saved me from myself and I am just vert grateful. Do the Rosary friend.
@ABB14-11 Жыл бұрын
@@Wakeup382 I’m glad you feel so much love and respect for the good bishop but I think your comment is blown out of proportion here. A simple correction would’ve been enough. I think you missed a lot of the admiration the original comment was showing for Bishop Barron. In a lot of contexts saying “I love this guy” isn’t disrespectful at all (it took me even a few seconds to understand what you were so offended by). The word ‘guy’ is usually used as a friendlier version of “man”. So there’s that. Also, it’s not wise to tell random people you don’t to pray the rosary and say ‘friend’ at the end after that kind of comment. Sounds like you are just ordering people around.

May this translate to a tangible movement in society. This is a great movement towards the existential peripheries, but I think most people do indeed respond to beauty…but the simple and powerful beauty of Christians showing Christ’s love to their neighbors. This was a great talk, but so often the intellect objections to our Faith come from excuses because deep down we either feel intimidated by living out the Faith, or we see Christians living like hypocrites…and there’s little motivation to learn more about what they believe. If we have beautiful churches but they’re mostly empty and no one inside welcomes the odd visitor, we become museums and tombs.

Thank you for the wonderful Holy Spirit led good counsel, Bishop! Too, could the Word on Fire ministry consider including/providing it's own captioning? It seems necessary; for instance check the transcript/captioning between 3 and 4 minutes, where you use the word "radiant", and the word "greedy" is showing up instead. Many times even elsewhere, the word "world" shows up in captioning instead of the word, "word", this during daily televised Masses from different parts of the world. And while most people are probably aware that technology isn't perfect, it is probably best when God's teachings are conveyed to the best of His Church's ability, accurately.

Just a layman’s perspective, but to me ‘apologetics’ sounds very similar to apology. I don’t know if I just have an unusual appraisal of this word, but to me it implies that someone did something wrong and now they need to apologize for it; explain why they did the wrong thing. So ‘apologetics’ gives the underlying impression of needing to explain something because you’ve done something wrong. I’m sure there’s a long and storied history to the term, but as someone who didn’t grow up with it it sounds like admitting defeat. I apologize that I only tend to leave negative comments. When something goes right I rarely feel the need to comment, when something seems to be wrong I want to fix it or figure it out. I watch many of the videos and I appreciate them.

Summary: 1. The Irenaeus Principle: Stems from the theological teachings of Saint Irenaeus, emphasizing that the glory of God is a human fully alive. It rejects the notion that God and humans are rivals, highlighting that God's presence enhances human flourishing rather than diminishes it. 2. The Augustine Principle: Rooted in the writings of Augustine, it acknowledges the universal human condition of having restless hearts hungry for God. It points out that individuals often seek fulfillment in things other than God, leading to frustration and addiction. 3. The John of Damascus Principle: Inspired by John the Damascene, who defended the use of icons in Christian worship during the iconoclast controversy. This principle underscores the importance of beauty as a means of transcending to the divine, advocating for the use of the visual and artistic to access the invisible aspects of faith. 4. The Thomas Aquinas Principle: Reflects the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas, promoting the harmony between faith and reason. It advocates for intellectual engagement in religion, rejecting the idea of dumbing down faith and underestimating people's capacity for serious theological discourse. 5. The Fulton Sheen Principle: Named after Fulton Sheen, a prominent American evangelist who effectively utilized modern media like radio and television for evangelization. This principle encourages the use of modern tools and new media to spread the message of faith in a substantive and appealing manner, reaching a broader audience while maintaining the richness of the tradition.

Dear Bishop Robert, historically you have cited Saint Irenaeus as “the glory of God is man fully alive." I have hard you speak thus. But now 'man' is changed to human being. Why have you changed the meaning of the translation? It gives the appearance of acquiesing to modern feminist language which seeks to expunge the term 'man' from the Western language even though this term encapsulates both male and female. Genesis 1:27: PS You are a magnificent gift to the Church. I watch and listen to you constantly.

Evangelization may depend on the Church obeying the direction given at Fatima. If the world is in danger & according to the Atomic Scientists it is in danger, then when the Church is given the means to prevent a dark future & won't do it, then nothing else will work as well as obeying the Mother of God. All Israel left the cisterns and followed Jonathon when he lead, and faced the danger of his day. Jonathon did not get people to follow him from teaching Israel in the cisterns. Teaching is great, but it is not the same as leading.

I don't know why we should listen to this man speak of Evangelization when he believes that female-bodied sapiens are inferior to male ones, and unworthy to serve God and their Church by administering the Liturgy and the Sacraments. Last I checked, the Cardinal Virtues were Wisdom, Sound-Mindedness, Courage, and JUSTICE. The way that the Bishop acts about a 50 year old problem that still hasn't been addressed by the Church, I'm not certain he's cognizant of any of the four. (The only thing that contradicts my statement is that he does seem to aspire toward wisdom in his brilliant phraseology, particularly concerning what it means to be pro-Life, and about the nature of God. Aside from that, he seems more wowed by Cathedral Architecture than the Glory of God which Irenaeus said is the human Fully Alive, which he purports to be an adage of his own.)

"First, Christ instituted the Sacrament of Holy Orders. According to His plan, He called 12 men as His apostles. Nowhere in the gospel do we find evidence of Jesus giving “orders” to women to baptize, to anoint the sick, to confect the Holy Eucharist, or to forgive sins as He did to the apostles. Some might respond, 'But in Jewish society at that time, women were not considered equal to men. Women were seen in a second class way, and that is why Jesus only chose men as apostles.” To some extent, this statement is true. However, Jesus was not constricted by such social custom. Even His adversaries stated, 'Teacher, we know you are a truthful man and teach God’s way sincerely. You court no one’s favor and do not act out of human respect' (Matthew 22:16)."
