Literally while I was watching this video, I went online and got Vol 1-3 of Liberty meadows for £29 ($35) from Ebay, and vol 4 from Amazon for £12.99 ($15:88), I also got the Edgar Allen Poe books Vol 1 & 2 for £25 ($30:53), So all very cheap, I was familiar with Liberty Meadows I think I had some floppys of it back in the day, so thanks for reminding me, and I've always love Frank Cho's art, the Poe books were new to me but they are very much up my alley, Thanks Omar!

Anyone that wants to read Tillie Walden's "a city inside" I would recommend you pick up her short story collection "alone in space" it has that story and lots more for a decent price.

Their is a great book that just came out that I haven’t seen anyone talk about. It’s called Mamo, it’s a dark horse book I think. It’s about a witch becoming friends with a girl, I really dig what I’ve read.

Liberty Meadows is a hidden gem?! HOW? I love this strip and need to re-read it. I love Frank Cho's work, but his humor is the best. I think he just got the full rights back if memory serves.

One of the hidden gems for me is the red lantern series from the new 52, the first 2 volumes are written by Peter Milligan and vol 3 to 6 are written by Charles soule, the later stories are the best, has some great scenes in it.
@NearMintCondition2 жыл бұрын
I’m a big fan of that series and have it custom bound. I believe Milligan did the issues and then Soule. Great stories

A book I have been really digging for it's production and humour is the 'Forming' series by Jesse Moynihan. This guy worked on Adventure Time for years and quit his job a few years back to focus on his own work. He has two beautiful hardcovers out that are some of the funniest books I have ever read and it seems nobody has ever heard of them. Based on his Patreon it seems like the guy is really struggling and that's just a travesty. Omar, or whomever, if you're interested in a beautiful Independent book by a creator that has a true passion for the craft, I highly recommend these books. They look amazing on a shelf and will have you in tears with laughter.

Hidden gem candidate: "Wasted space" by Michael Moreci and Hayden Sherman by Vault comics, it's a mix of star wars in terms of world where story is happening and preacher in terms of plot and it's not taking itself very serious, it's finished story in 5 tpbs, I highly recommend

Now I've only read the first arc across the first two albums so only a quarter way through but I'll give a shout out to Orbital available in English from Cinebook. Buddy cop SF, great looking, four stories as pairs of ~50 page albums and I believe it's all done at the 8 books. You don't need selling on Dan Abnett and I know you already have Brink to get into but The Grey Area, also from the pages of 2000AD, is well worth a look. Near future alien immigration actioner. Currently on long term, possibly permanent hiatus but stops on a logical end point.

When there are creators who have committed bad acts, it should be mentioned when their stories are recommended for readers/buyers to be fully informed, eg Brian Wood and Warren Ellis. There are other creators Involved in the making of the art so the stories shouldn’t not be recommended but all information should be given.
@NearMintCondition2 жыл бұрын
I try to stay updated and mention exactly what you said and leave it to the viewers to purchase or not. I did on the Moon Knight video I mentioned Ellis. Now, Brian Wood I was told had been cleared of everything after the last time I mentioned Wood in a video and I mentioned accusations. A few people in the comments told me he was okay now. So I looked it up. So if you know something recently, I don’t. Let me know. But It’s impossible for me to keep up with everything, I hope you understand.

@@NearMintCondition whoawhoawhoa, don’t want to cross beams here haha! Jokes, we’re taped a whole month dedicated to Warren Ellis and having dug deep on him we had zero problems doing so and in either case I made the decision that we’d see the art as separate irrespective . Was of general interest, not a gotcha, chum. Specifically with Wood, controversy does not make good bed fellows with accuracy and doesn’t necessarily recede in the face of it either.

I understand and honestly, it’s impossible to keep up with all that stuff so sometimes I really won’t know.
