I recently started learning how to hand embroider. My best friend sent me a few kits in the mail & encouraged me to give it a go! My mom passed away 7 years ago, when I was 20. She could sew anything! She made me clothes, costumes, Afghan blankets, she made all of my siblings a quilt with pillows to match! She just had a real talent. So since I started, I keep thinking to myself, if only my mom was here to teach me this stuff, it would be so much easier! But then.. I found your channel! I cannot tell you how helpful it has been! I’m awful at understanding what the instructions say and you always show things to clearly. You seem like such a sweet, insightful lady and I’m so grateful for your videos!

Good for you Taylor! Learning to do something your mother did and enjoyed can be thought of as a way to connect to her now... a way to spend time enjoying a shared hobby. I do this when out hiking in the woods enjoying nature, collecting rocks, watching a water fall or the sounds of waves, I never feel alone. My father enjoyed these things, he graduated this life in 2005.

Hello from Dallas. Sarah, you sure taught me a lot. I was sick a lot as a child so we had to wait in busy corridors a lot. Mom taught me a lot of basic stitches. I loved embroidering and mom kept telling me how good I was at it. I’m 65 now and adding yet another medium to everything else, I am excited about embroidering again after so many years. Grandma taught mom and mom taught me. Now it’s time to teach my daughter. She never taught me how to do the chain stitch, but I have a set of pillowcases that grandma made for me 60 years ago. They are hand-tatted too. Thank you for teaching me one of grandmas stitches. You’re a sweetheart Sarah.
