In this video, I find five aircraft wreck sites on Kinder Scout and wild camp on Edale Moor on the Kinder Plateau close to Crowden Head. I also have a closer look at Four Jacks Cabin (twice!) as I head along Grindsbrook onto Edale Moor.
I had planned on completing this in one trip with an overnight camp, but the water situation on Kinder was very dry! I visited Four Jacks Cabin once again, and made the mistake of sitting on the seats inside, I got eaten alive by all the midges in there!
I cut short the first visit with a very dark walk along the Edge Path then down Golden Clough and the Nab. I made sure that I had a water source on the second visit by climbing Grindsbrook Clough where I knew the spring close to the top would be flowing freely.
Walking across the open moor is tough going, but I found the Avro Anson wreck before pitching on a lovely site near Crowden Head. The next morning I was able to find the De Haviland Dragon Rapide on my way back to the Edge Path. I followed the gradient downward, meeting Grindsbrook, then turned left and followed the fairly clear path. I passed Four Jacks Cabin once again, this time avoiding the midges!
There was one last wreck to find, just fifteen minutes along the edge path from Grindsbrook.
I dont think the Wellington wreckage above Grindsbook was visible (it may be under the heather), but I did manage to find the plaque attached to Upper Tor above Grindsbrook.

I have to commend you Phil on your videography skills. Some fantastic editing and the drone work, particularly walking up to the De Havilland site, brilliant. The short history of the five crash sites made the vid very interesting and how you found the plaque of the welly, well. All in all a great vid Phil. Keep em coming.

Thank you Shane, I really appreciate your comment. Im enjoying this process so much, the camping is really worthwhile, but the production of the video is a close second!

Very interesting video , and it's great drone footage. I liked the alterations made to your cooking system. I laughed at the teacher's dream story 😅... great that you found all the wreckage spots 👍

Another great campspot. You must know kinder like the back of your hand. Each crash site has it's own story. There must be lots of others scattered across the hills, As for the dreams..... Ditto. Weird isn't it.😁

@@huntonthetrailsI think if you camped there every night for a year, you'd still find new stuff Andy. I do love it, especially if you can find a spot where you don't get disturbed. There's another half dozen wrecks up there, might need another trip!

@@thepeakdistrictviking Thanks Stu, Edale Moor is hard to get to but I'd recommend it for a very isolated camp away from all the visitors.

Excellent vid, thanks for this Phil. Loved your camping spot on Edale Moor, I'd have picked somewhere just like it if I were in that area. You did well to find the aircraft wrecks, always fascinating to see them and find out about the type of aircraft, who was aboard and what happened. Those downdraughts must have been very strong, especially to take down that Avro with it's multiple engines.

@@Glossopwildcamp yeah, I can't begin to imagine how frightening it was flying at night, zero visibility and then the dial tells you that your dropping out of the sky. At least the Wellington crew didn't know what was coming, small relief though. Thanks for the comment Brian.

Hi Phil, Ive been waiting for part two. Eagle eyed spotting the plaque on your footage. I really like the dramatic drone footage following you across the top with the music, Oh and then there was the gratuitous nudity 😮😂😂😂

@@GoneWildCamping892 haha! Almost nudity! It was speed up quite a lot. I did a similar drone shot last time I was up there but it didn't work that time. I think it's gone quite well this time. Thanks for the comment.

Hi Phil, even though I've only been up kinder 3 or 4 times, ive never had a good look around... I've seen the Bleaklow & Mill Hill crash sites.

@@The_Versatile_Camper there's quite a few up there. It's such a big lump sticking up from the lower ground that it was easy for lost aircraft to get caught in the downdraft and crash. The Heyford is the easiest to find, but Hengist Wild Camps visits some near the East end that might be easier to get to in his latest video.
Looking for the Kinderlow Cavern.
