I thought deal breakers are healthy so that I have a black and white approach to certain circumstances that I know I don't want to spend time adjusting to regardless of the other positive aspects. Like someone smoking or being narcissistic and abusive
@sumari9722 жыл бұрын
I see it the same. Everybody has her / his dealbreakers, he might just want to tightly close both eyes about this in order to say look you keep the shit going and I get the checks for helping you about it...😉 Why on earth should a woman who was beaten by her husband keep a strong relationship with that guy...?!
@LiveOnPurposeTV2 жыл бұрын
Definitely when there is abuse, but I find people are quick to cut off others.

@@LiveOnPurposeTV it seems to me you are a very kind and respectful man to your lady. But you will surely know that in a relationship where there is real abuse going on, the woman (in most cases) will try to fix anything even her partner. Some of the people listening to your videos are those abused women, and it would help to clearly draw a line for those who cannot do it themselves yet.

@@LiveOnPurposeTV I see, it makes more sense now! We need to ensure our deal breakers are based on deep understanding of who we are and want in life rather than fleeting emotions that are used as an excuse to break up. 😉

"I've been a shrink?" you said! Gotta like it!
@sumari9722 жыл бұрын
can you please explain what that means? English is not my native language, but I'm willing to learn ☺️
@espressocoffeeshine43462 жыл бұрын
Shrink is a slang name for a therapist of psychiatry. I'm not sure, it possibly even is or began as a derogatory term. It shows here that Dr. Jenkins has a sense of humor and is very comfortable in what he does and what he has accomplished. @@sumari972

Espresso Coffeeshine did a good job explaining the term. Just slang we use in the USA.

Real abuse should always be a deal breaker. Often its not what the abused person does. And even if they falter it still doesn't justify it . Violence, intimidation, verbal abuse- all not okay and its not about your interpretation of it. No one deserves that. I hope you don't take people's money and tell them abuse is all in their head.
@LiveOnPurposeTV2 жыл бұрын
Abuse is real and should not be happening. Often it is sad that people don't see leaving as an option and it really isn't an option until they see it is.

Hi Doc I just discover your channel and watching some of your videos to learn and educate myself. I have a 16yr old teenage daughter who love to go clubbing, drinking and smoking, she got caught by police because she showed a fake IC, now she had a warning and on going for counselling session. But the problem is I overheard, not intentionally, she’s still planning to continue her wrong doing. Please advise or any possible content that I can show to her, to feel what I feel as a parent or atleast for her to realise to find a good direction. Thanks and best regards

You can't control your daughter's behavior at this point. All you can do is love her and let her know you have some ideas for her and will share them when she wants to hear.

I don't understand what he is speaking about. When he refers to deal-breakers. Of course there are negotiations every day in relationships. They don't run as business meetings, but there are things to come to terms with in relationships. I wish he could tell on the international women's day to the women who are abused in relationships some empowering words. He preaches humility and forgiveness and could use some of those to tell that everybody should have so much humility towards her life to not stay or seek to keep the bond with abusers. Happened once, it might have been weakness, more than once it is cruelty. Yes, we all who were badly hurt could use forgiveness toward ourselves for indulging in abusive relationships for too long.

I hear you, Sumari. I try to help people to see what their options are and help them discover the options because until they see it as an option, it really isn't.
