I still remember the first day the FNAF hit the scene on Steam. I sat with my friends on Skype and browsed the recently released titles and there was Five Nights at Freddy's. I always thought the designs of the animatronics were creepy looking and only got less creepy with each new title.

As someone who fell down the FNAF lore rabbit hole, i can say that the movie lore is pretty accurate to the video game (So bonus points for that.) Some exact details are a bit off, but that comes with the territory of it being an adaptation.

I only counted three jumpscares myself, and I didn't feel so much like it was "Hey, it's a horror movie" as I did it was a joke on the nature of FNAF. I jumped, but I also laughed a lot all three times. And those were the only times I jumped. I didn't find the animatronics scary at all, but that was true of the original games as well. I don't think it was great, but I had legitimately good time with it. I laughed, I had feels, I got apprehensive. It did the job, and that's all I really wanted from a movie like this.

The characters were annoying, the threats weren't really threatening unless you did something really stupid, and the twist was so predictable I hesitate to call it a twist? My knowledge concerning this vidgame franchise is almost non existent , and i'm nowhere near the target age group , i'm aware of it of course but i never played even one second but you had to have been not using the internet to not about it's existence and all the memes it inspired . So i went in as a casual observer , almost militantly indifferent but very curious because of the aforementioned secondary exposure , and i genuinely had a great time with it , and although i normally loathe an excessive running time in a film i feel does not require it , the running time in this one felt justified and never overstayed it's welcome , i was having so much fun it didn't matter , i would have been fine with an even longer running time . I do have to say , keeping in mind i don't know anything about these games , the story is absolutely ludicrous in the most entertaining of ways , it really did feel like some cheap STV horror movie with a big budget , although the tone is a bit more serious than would be found in a silly offering such as those . Seriously , the plot is so convoluted it had me in stitches , the machinations that have to transpire just to have particular events unfold strains credulity on a massive level , we're talking TDK level of happenstance here , but for that was part of the fun , the absolutely ridiculous nature of the narrative . What really got a howl from my friend and me was how they try to frame the drug addled loser brother as the best option hero level character for his sister and the Aunt who had the means to take care of her and was obviously concerned for her well being , as the antagonist , okay so there was a reference to her smoking habit , but really , the kid was better off with her , but they made her out to be some cruella de ville character LOFL . It kind of makes sense in this fantastical universe and the time period it takes place in , it's supposed to be irreverent but ultimately this ancillary antagonist is kind of pointless but hilarious nonetheless . Judging by the audience reaction i would say this gave them everything they wanted , they were losing their minds , screaming , yelling , hanging on every moment the animatronics were involved , they loved it , that was the most raucous i have seen a crowd since i saw Dawn of the Dead 04 in the theater , and i have to admit , it added to my enjoyment , the feeling was electric . I'm going to say in general , Willy's was the slightly better film , it was more direct , visceral , whimsical atmosphere ,had the great perf from Cage , and the animas were way more menacing , but this one was just about as good in a slightly different way , it's more meandering with the narrative but it looks and sounds great , i like the time period setting of the 90s , lighting is excellent , set design is appropriately moody , and i did like the characters , for me this was a great one , which one is the companion piece , i would say Willy's , it could easily fit into that lore , i can imagine the events in that movie taking place after the ones in Freddy's . I give this one an 8 out of 10 , forget streaming , see it in the theater

They should kill him multiple times but then whenever he dies he wakes from a dream or something (or maybe groundhog day reset where he learns to survive longer and longer), simulating dying in the game. Would give room for more kills and scares when there's only 1 char.

I just finished wathing Five Nights At Freddie's and I agree it was a lot longer than it needed to. I figured out who the killer rabbit was, I mean are they really gonna hire Mathew Lillard and not have him be the killer, and the fact that the police woman was his daughter about a half hour into the movie so no big surprises at the end. I kinda wish they would have revealede what happed when the cps found the aunts ody in the apartment. I'm sure he would have been arrested and jailed seeing as his little sister was the only one there at the time and the police sould have had enugh evidence that he could have killed the aunt to keep her from taking his sister away, but some mvies never really follow practical knowledge and skip over how auntie got killed and how the cop got stabbed when Mike was the only one around and I am sure the cops wouldn't have beleied his The animatronics where possesed and killed everyone story.

This IS the movie that should begin at least 3 movies in the franchise, so they can not really dive too deep in the lore. And too deep into the scares. Gotta ramp them up in the 2nd & 3rd movies, though. xD lol But yeah, I think that if you were a real FNAF fan, you'd see it all with more enthusiasm and also see details in the movies that reference back to games and the lore of the games. And maybe even see things that could lead you to a bigger mystery and everything. But we'll see with Movie 2 how they are going to expand on this. ^^;
