Seems to be a case of the movie not knowing what it wants to be. It wants to appeal to new fans but also leaves references for older fans. Yet, because they want to include everyone, it results in a tonal whiplash where it is uncertain what audience they are trying to appeal to.

That in my eyes is why I hated the pg-13 rating, cause while I didn't know deep down I knew from that rating alone that something was gonna be off, why? Cause unlike in the games the movie was not gonna be able to hold a candle cause the games are both scarier, and a whole hell of a lot more brutal, but I haven't seen the movie yet and I'm just going off of word of mouth

Oh yeah, it's clear that this first movie followed along the lines of the first three games. Missing children's incident, Springtrap's creation. Something tells me the next one will be the movie's take on either fnaf 3 or sister location.

Great review 3C and I also completely agree. As a hardcore fan and this being my second favorite franchise, i gave it a 9/10. But as someone ignoring that biase I give it a solid 7. I will say I don't feel like this movie was trying to have a big twist. If you pay attention near the beginning when William reads Mike's last make you see him thinking and realising something. Anyone with a brain would be like "oh... That means something" and then when we reveal Mike has a brother and someone took him I feel it's safe to say most people can get that it was most likely him who did it. So I personally wouldn't count the twist thing as a negative as I feel like it wasn't trying to be hidden. Also I feel the PG13 ranking was well used and I'm not sure what more was needed? Like I get people love rated R but I don't see why that would have been needed. I mean we see a bloody head and a girl's chopped off legs. Not sure what else was wanted. Also I do like the fact that this would be a starter horror movie you show to little kids. As I feel most of the fan base is kids now and I doubt that's gonna change. So if you think about it while you said it's gonna have a smaller audience, show a kid this and they will most likely love it. So in the next couple years we could see a bunch of fans popping up since they watched the movie when they were kids, got into the fan base then went from there. But anyway great review per usual and I can't wait for the sequel.

With this movie coming out with all of its reviews, Blumhouse and Scott could take the criticism and wants from people from the first film and if they do make a sequel, they can add it to the next film while turning everything up to 10 with the horror or the action. But thats just my way of thinking of it.

If you ever feel like someone’s ruining a movie in the theatres, remember my story: I sat next to my friend in the FNaF movie. He would lean in centimetres away from my ear and whisper shitty jokes, using a Walt Jr impression. For example: when Matthew Lillard appeared on his office desk… “Is that the dentist?!” It was grim; he did it every few seconds. He would gasp cartoonishly to the ENTIRE audience with each scare. He’d yell out unfunny memes. He made “jokes” about the animatronics having sex with the humans. When a certain cameo appeared, he announced the same catchphrase to theatre THREE TIMES. All my other friends could barley stand it. I know this sounds made up, but seriously, it was the worst person I’ve sat next to watching a movie. ⚰️

Spoilers: Do NOT read More if you have not seen the Fnaf movie your only warning So my personal rateing [ 8.5 / 10 ] The movie had a lot of cool moments aswell as the characters used in it so let’s begin there. The main character is named Mike at first I thaught he was Michael Afton but turns out he wasn’t his sister has a strong connection to talk with Ghost but at the beginning had issues getting along with people. Honestly the movie was pretty good it had what all the gamers saw in the franchise and it delivered but if I were to say one thing they should of changed it should’ve been the resources they used with the jumpscares I feel like there wasn’t enough to make the movie scary for a horror movie especially knowing that fnaf is most seen for their story and horrific Jumpscares. Even though William Afton was only seen once and that was at the end of the movie it fr made me mad knowing that they completely shut him down for only the conclusion which is so dumb even knowing how good of an actor he is but yk they had limited resources so honestly if they do plan on making a sequel hopefully they give more of a story behind William Afton giving everyone the understanding of the Games timeline. Now we are going onto The best features of the movie. I love the Game Theory Matt Pat Cameo at the dinner fr made me scream that he finally got a lot of credit for all his fnaf videos he did and never once gave up on the franchise. Also I love the fact they gave the idea of turning people into Animatronics it fr gave it saw vibes . Another of my favorite scene where all the Ghost of the dead kids were actually as they were described especially knowing that Casity “The one you should of not Killed” is finally confirmed to be one soul instead of two aswell as seeing a glimpse of Golden Freddy to bad it was only during the End where he killed the evil aunt but it all understanding she had it coming to her. Lastly the thing I love is the scene with taxi driver where he’s just chillin and just casually gives the little girl and GF and ride to the Restaurant 😂 especially the end credit scene he was sleeping and got spooked by a miniature BB Figure. But yea besides it all great movie and cannot wait to see what happens next honestly if u ask me they need to make a series of this where we actually can see the true meaning behind the games def would be an amazing idea to look at Scott if u ever come across this but besides it all I hope you all enjoyed the movie :)

As an OG fan since the day it launched (Markiplier’s upload) and now an avid member in the community, i LOVED this movie. I’m in the UK. it was a love letter by its creator and amalgamation of many unique references. I went in expecting more laughs than gore because i know how modern fnaf is (Security Breach) in its gore levels compared to back in the day. That being said, I was satisfied to basically every degree. my cinema was fully booked and everyone laughed, gasped & cheered together. my cinema clapped! for what it is, and what it took to get here 8 years later, i have no complains. just add a lil more blood next time Blumhouse 😉❤

My only complaint is that Vanessa being Williams daughter was really not needed. I mean, sure there could be an explanation, but it seemed out of the blue. Then again, I did expect the movie to be canon, so I could be wrong. Also, that reference to sparky the dog made me stand up and clap.

Warning minor spoilers ahead: I've been a fan since the beginning of Fnaf in 2014, and when it got announced there will be a movie about it in 2015 I got excited and waited alllllll this time for this movie to come out. I know the lore for the most part and had an idea where this was going. But the whole dream thing was kinda annoying because it was a big chunk movie and could've been cut short a little bit, and I was hoping for more animatronic action like we saw in the first few games and that our main 4 would've gotten some individual personalities and voices to connect more with them. Let's be real... that ending felt super rushed. I feel like the movie should've been at least 20 minutes longer to fill in some of the things that we should have gotten more of like cmonnnnnn Blumhouse 15 MINUTES OF ANIMATRONICS AND 5 MINUTES OF AFTON?!?! Nonetheless I still had my fun with it and got the fnaf vibe but I'm far from satisfied. 6/10. Also loved the MatPat and Corey cameos :)

I remember being a huge fan of the game as a kid. However, in my opinion, I don't think the movie enticed me the hype to see it theatrically, especially the trailer, to be critically honest. I feel like the movie itself lacked the horror suspense opportunity it could have and it's pretty much predictable. I will go for Peacock on that.

I am a major fnaf fan, but it was hard to enjoy a fnaf movie if there were some annoyances or problems during the movie. I don’t blame the critics this time. These could be the reasons probably: -the lawyer lady was dramatic as heck , and did not lighten my mood -matpat being matpat -Vanessa’s tone is like an anime’s English dub -some things feel forced, like Mike punching a kid’s father.

This was a very well made critique. I honestly think this movie (and yes I have played and am a fan of FNAF games) stuck really close to the games story and what changes were made were not drastic enough to make it terrible *cough* Warcraft *cough*. I do agree with you that it is great to have new people fall in love with games and movies you enjoy as well I would say that when it comes to video game adapted movies they have to stick with making it for the people who know the games. Its honestly a trap because if they don't make it for the fans then they lose on all fronts because new people either wont like it or wont understand and the fans who know where it comes from will be angry too so its a loss overall. That being said I do believe this is an excellent example of that middle ground where yes critics don't care for it much but they made changes where it is accessible for new people to understand. Hell it took 3-4 games for the original FNAF story to be told, they made most of it make sense in just 1 movie. Video game adaptations are getting better, look at Sonic, Mario, and Last of Us. Things are getting better. Though I still hold the opinion that the only live action video game adaptations that will interest the general public are games that are more serious and realistic (we'll see how the upcoming COD movie does). I feel like if there is a touch of fantasy it has to be animated and geared towards kids because if its sold as a live action fantasy show it will flop (lookin at Halo). But again overall I enjoyed the movie and thought that it truly was for the fans and it did extend a hand to new potential fans. Hopefully the sequels will come and be just as good if not better.

I watched the film on Wednesday and I gave it a 8/10 which I still stand by. My best way to describe the film is a "aftermath of a horror film" type of deal The bad and horrific stuff has already happened, it was what happened to the children and to Mike's brother back in the 80s and 90s, and this film explores the aftermath of tragedy. The concepts are horrific when you think about it, and the film goes into those ideas. Yes it's still a horror film, and yes it could be better, but the problem I've seen some reviewers do is compare it to other horror films. Really this film to me feels more like a mystery and drama in the clothes of a horror film. It has its scary moments, but the true story is about the life of what happens after the murders. I think perhaps its marketing maybe should have focused on this aspect of tragedy, but if you go in with this in mind, it's a really great film. Great review 3C as always

The best way I've told myself to ignore the harsh ratings is to look at the Super Mario movie. Granted, that's on a much, much grander audience appeal, but the way that movie had me feel as a fan of the games, finding easter egg after Easter egg. Video game movies never really get good rating critically, but if the fans enjoy it, then I find it a success. With that said, I understand 3C's point on casual fans or people unfamiliar should also be able to enjoy the film, even if they don't understand the story. If the film struggles with that, then sure it may be a little concerning. But this movie was in production hell for an eternity. Give them time to clean up some things and keep Scott as part of production team and I think we could get a few more movies
