Some history: I recorded this episode when I was FIRST playing Five Nights at Freddy's back when I only had the demo. This was before I really knew the game at all. Before I discovered the dark secrets. Before I conquered the toughest challenges. I never released it because I thought I had beaten the game and only after I had finished editing did I discover that the full game had been released, and a new destiny lay before me. With Five Nights at Freddy's 3 on the horizon, I think it's finally time to unleash this long-lost episode to the world... Enjoy! :D

What Five Night's at Freddy's does so well is that it removes your escape mechanic. In Slender, Amnesia, the SCP series and most other horror titles, you can run and hide from what's coming after you. But this game doesn't let you do that. You're immobile and surrounded with no chance of escape. This game locks you in place and let's the horror come to you, and the only thing that keep you safe (momentarily) are those doors. You can't run away from the animatronics. Yeah you can close the doors. But then what? You're draining power and it's gonna cost you. There's no real safety set. This is just my opinion.

That IS the…horror "mechanic" for the gameplay aspect - and it's very well-done, and a completely new take on horror after the many, MANY Slender games that happened when that game "revolutionized" horror…HOWEVER, many people say, and I can't exactly argue, that after a while, the novelty of the mechanic wears off and the game just becomes stressful and eventually boring. What makes the game scary even after the effectiveness of the game mechanics wears off is the backstory - true nightmare fuel, and only hinted at, never fully told, and you have to go out of your way to look for what is even there. It's the exquisite subtlety of the stories of the games, and the horrifying nature of said stories, that have me utterly enchanted by all of FNAF, even when the LP videos themselves start to blend together with same-ness on the surface.

Excuse me, but I must go disinfect my brain after the realization that after Mark became E-famous, some real scum drifted to his channel and ruined this community. I was here quite a bit before 1 million, probably near 7-8 hundred K, and I have seen this community degrade into nothing more than us true fans and supporters of Mark, in a sea of 10 year old FNaF fanboys and trolls. I am disappointed in the fact that we can no longer be considered good as a whole community, and that likely under 500k of us 5 million+ want to keep this the most loving and caring community on KZbin. I discovered mark around 1-2 million and fell in love with his videos. He can go from intelligent conversation to screaming nonsense in the span of .1 seconds. He's genuine. I still think that this is one of the better communities on KZbin. There's the good guys and true fans, and thanks to this game in particular he's gotten more popular amongst some real jerks. But that's ok. They will leave eventually. So just keep on keeping on:)

I always wondered when he switched from the demo to the full game. I’ve never seen this video before. I remember thinking “huh” when in like the first 2 episodes he’s clearly on the demo but later on in the series the “demo” titles are no longer on the Home Screen & he can progress further than the demo would’ve allowed without any explanation. I’m glad he did actually finish the demo instead of just chucking it in when the full game was released. 👏
