Lord of the Mysteries will always be my favorite fiction novel I've ever read. Klein exploring the new world, discovering hidden, yet dangerous secrets, and combating against unknown organizations, eldritch gods, and cosmic horrors all while maintaining his humanity and fooling the world of his identity was extremely exhilarating to read. I felt emotions that I haven't felt in a long time including new emotions such as genuine fear. The suspense, the occasional slow-paced slice of life, the worldbuilding, and the characters are just perfect for me.

The first webnovel I read was Lord of Mysteries and I'm still obsessed. It's SPECTACULAR and basically everything I like in fiction and stories. It's mysteries, insane worldbuilding and power system, steampunk, good characters, it can be funny and DARK and keeps you on edge the whole time with seriously unexpected plot twists. Also insane antagonists. Fights are damn impressive, and the STAKES. It's also super creative. I couldn't stop reading for two months basically and I'm so glad it's so long XD So now of course I'm reading the second ongoing part as well. And I have so high expectations from the animation now, even more if they follow the insane level of the trailer. So now I have a hard time getting into something else aha XD I do want to read Shadow Slave because it also looks totally like my jam, but I will maybe wait until it's finished. And I'm keeping these recommendations because they look super good, thank you!!

My favorite is omniscient reader viewpoint... This story about stories itself is the single greatest concept used in storytelling itself. I love lord of the mysteries and shadow slave too but somehow omniscient reader has everything and more to offer. Sss grade suicide hunter is good to. Really underrated one is "the main heroines are trying to kill me" I personally loved this one too

I don't really think ORV deserves the peak fiction title. I've read the entire novel, but it's just so hard to visual some parts. The manhwa does a great job at this. It also gets good only around the halfway part. Before that, this web novel felt like an average fantasy Protagonist novel. However, I will say that this novel is great at worldbuilding. Despite some plot holes, it's really interesting how the main character levels up with an actual game system and slowly reveals huge plot points. Overall, I would give orv an a tier

@@solanaceous I disagree! Because I have read many stories... The concept itself drew me in. I knew in few chapters the potential of this story because of the concept it was playing with. "story about stories" means it has potential to explore everything. And I was right. It has everything that other many stories had and explored it further in meta narrative sense. I don't personally think there are plot holes at all....i have read it many times. Paradoxical? Yes but that's because the concept itself is paradoxical. I think it is one of the most unique story to ever exist because the concept itself is unique.... It being "story about stories" "humans relationship with stories" etc So it does deserve to be called masterpiece and a peak fiction. I would say it's better than shadow slave and lord of the mysteries for me personally. Cuz on the criteria I rate stories... Orv is at the top of web noval mountain.

I'm not a fan either of school thing in such history, usually they are all the same, but the begginer made it fast enough for me to not drop, and after that the history gets waaay better, and it gets even better when SPOILER!!!!????!!!!;!! Arthur get to a new "realm", the history before it is very good, but from this point onwards.. it gets its peak Both the begginer and shadow slave are pretty good (I didn't get to the weekly on shadow slave yet), but until the cap 1400 where I'm the history is awesome

They're both time-loop stories but I'm more satisfied with the way MoL tied up it's story. I've since started reading a new on-going series though, it's called Apocalypse Redux. It got stubbed but I started reading from before that happened so I'm quite okay with it. It's on Kindle now I think.

In my opinion, SS's biggest flaws are that too few characters (ones that matter and have not been around for only 15 chapters) die and the chapters are too short.

nah there is so many other flaws power system, characterization ( we have 5 POVs that take less than 15 chapters in a span of 1600 ), pacing at the start of every arc besides antarctic and the first arc, writing being subpar having walls uppon walls of forced exposition, over explanation, there is a bunch of chapters where there is no dialogue what so ever, just explanations of whats going on instead of letting us know through conversations, we only ever get two types of convos, useless ones or very particularly important ones for the plot, not to say that there isnt good dialogue, there is, for example when noctis was around, but its so far in-between that it can not be used as a argument of success. i think this novel suffers from the authors own choices of releasing 2 chapters a day, you cannot make a good book doing that, it will suffer with quality drop, i can see how ingenious he though with the power system, how the world he build is stellar, but he fumbled it by making all that quality become intellectual fast food. at least the world building is still stellar

@@isaac15752 Yeah as far as POVs goes g3 doesn’t differentiate much, kinda isolates sunny. And I agree I think there are quite a few chapters where it just feels slow and like theres nothing happening due to explanation of things that aren’t really relevant. As far as pacing goes I don’t think its that bad at the start of arcs, perhaps the Third Nightmare was a bit boring at the beginning but thats a buildup for whats to come later. Honestly it is an issue with the chapter release schedule, but thats also a result of g3s way of planning. He states that he just sets up keypoints for what he wants done in an arc, and just writes on about things he thinks of. Im sure if he gave himself more time the novel would be a lot higher quality

I have read hundreds of webnovels. The best and most impactful was "Will Eternal" . I have reread it 3 times (2 times full and 1 time half). Shadow slave and LOTM can't even come close to this masterpiece. Though I have to admit, LOTM has a very unique premise and story compared to "Will Eternal". When you read hundreds of same old cultivation and leveling novels, a unique story like "LOTM" stands out.

Well, there's hundreds good novels in Webnovel (and I only read chinese/korean novels, no originals), not only the well known, like Release That Witch, Way of Choices but also a lot of hidden gems, like 'My Girlfriend From Turquoise Pond...', 'My Wife Is A General Who Killed Tens Of Thousands On The Battlefield', 'I Turn Out to Be a Grand Master' and others. There are a ton of problems with the site, though. There's a lot of good abandoned translations, like Sword of Dawnbreaker (wich has an anime), Heavenly Dao Formula (from the author of RTW), there's a lot of atrocious translations (specially from not so well known novels), the site is chaotically organised, making it difficult to browse unless you know exactly what you are looking for, and it gets extremelly expensive if you start reading a lot of their novels. Liked your list, I hadn't read any of those novels.

1. The second coming of Gluttony (Absolute No.1 for me) Well written start to finish, Not too long nor short. Cant emphasize enough how much I love this novel. I’m a bit biased here since I relate with the mc abit. 2. Tied between LOTM/ORV 3. Release that witch 4. The Beginning after the end 5. I am the monarch/Overgeared ( Both got pretty repetitive ) Honorary Mentions would be - • Soul Station Necromancer ( Better Solo leveling imo ) • Warlock of the magus World • Moon Labyrinth ( The first 20 chapters only :) The prologue would itself make a fine short story. The rest is pretty cliche ) • First Immortal of the Sword. ( Went downhill after he got revenge or some shit. Think it was chap 200ish, Been a while since I last read it. ) • Monarch of evernight • Memorize ( Same author as SCOG, There’s no TL for this, just MTL) These are all the good ones I can remember at this moment.

I stopped reading SS before they entered their 2nd nightmare, I'm surprised that I got that far honestly because after the author put such a unique and punishing thing for his flaw and for it to be used for what it was used for and that a person who never even exited their Nightmare could divine the moment when he said it out loud (considering his rank and everything) was just a cop out in my opinion from the author. It had sooooo much potential to be such a debilitating thing for the readers emotionally and for the story to potentially take a such a drastic and unique turn, but he decided to just fucking throw it all away. Gonna check out the Forty Milleniums of Cultivation tho sounds super cool first time I heard about it.

I became the pope now what. Power system has issues but the story is good hope the author gives a good ending. 4. The primordial record New story kinda like infinite mana but i prefer this way more. 5.scholars advance technological system Even though its heavy with nationalism what i liked about this story was that it made me appreciate maths and science and the people behinds these fields. Forty Milleniums of Cultivation borrows too heavily from 40k, and also probably Remembrance of Earths Past from what I've heard. The execution is fine, but one can't just rewrite the Horus Heresy and use it as a piece of history in a novel...

throne of magical arcana is my favorite so far, i have put a stop on lotm (at the midle of volume 4, didn't like dantes that much) and ss (a bit before 2nd nightmare), i am waiting for both of them to be finished. I dropped tbate, just after his training in the dragon realm, i found it bad honestly, i don't like novels where the drama swallows the story, that's why i dropped orv too. Forty millenniums of cultivation, i had read the manhua i stopped when he had to leave his planet/galaxy (don't remember). it's been a few years, don't know if it is still in continuation.

Bro, everyone talks about LOTM. I've had it on my list for years and yet I never seem to be able to get past chapter 1. Two days ago, I got into chapter 2 and I slept off. Yup. LoTM is arguably greatest webnovel of all time, with RI being it's equal or greater. The likes of Shadow Slave and others mentioned in the video can never compare to these two no matter what. So yeah, you should definitely read them Ps. LoTM gets very good at chapter 180

on my first try I also couldn't get past chapter 1. a year after that I tried again and finished the whole thing in under a month. idk why but in my first try I just felt "nah this is too much words nothing stick to my head" but on the second try I actually got immersed, the wordy details made the world more alive. what you feel like just mundane trivial stuff actually set the atmosphere of the book. I got hooked after Klein got in touch with mysticism and (spoiler ig?) tarot club gatherings.

Shadow slave is too slow for me tbh he didnt level up that much other than getting more cores in so many chapterd and it doesnt scale that much.The mc is also not op or the best among his peers which also makes me like it less since the mc is supposed to be the protagonist who reaches the peak alone in all novels i read. Throne of magical arcana had an awesome and unique start but i lost interest after that just because the scaling of the world was too low and it seemed slow. 40 milleniums of cultivation also interesting start but got boring later it just seems too big of a haste for me to read 3k plus chapters. Lord of the mystety is also too slow and complicated for me to read. All in all these novels are alright but definately nowhere near my top 10 list.
